From our family to the Brooks & Ravens family our sincerest and heartfelt condolences. This brings into clear focus that football, while important, is still only a game and that real life will intrude and remind us all to clearly what the bottom line is all about. RIP Mr. Clarence Brooks

Condolences to the Brooks family- RIP. One of the reasons why so many undrafted and mid-round guys became starters and Ravens defensive front has been good for so many years. (Kelly Gregg,Douglass, Weaver, Guy, JJ, on and on.) Ring of Honor no doubt

Something is sitting with me on this note of CBs passing ,  Last week it was mentioned in the locker room about his health being in decline .  It was mentioned at the openeing broadcast  ,   I know our players the way they look at their coaches , only one way for our D this year Light that board up for CB and hoist a lombardi Hardnosed D in his honour.

ECAN sends deepest condolences to the entire Ravens family. Esophageal Cancer sadly steals far too many lives - especially of American men. It is the fastest increasing cancer diagnosis among American men today. It is why the Esophageal Cancer Action Network (ECAN - www.ecan.org) works tirelessly to inform the public that reflux disease can cause cancer. Sadly, this is a disease that produces few recognizable symptoms until it is too late. That's why we beg those of you with persistent heartburn, or heartburn that has gone away for no apparent reason (this can be a bad sign), sore throat, cough, hoarse voice, choking upon lying down - even hiccups - to see your doctor about a scope to check your esophagus. If caught at early stages - or even treatable pre-cancerous stages - this disease is survivable and preventable. But for most patients it is not caught early enough. Esophageal Cancer will kill four out of five patients who receive this diagnosis - mostly because their cases are caught too late. ECAN sends condolences to all who mourn the loss of Coach Brooks, called "the sweetest man in football." Since we are based in Baltimore and count many Ravens fans among our supporters (including me), we have our own personal sadness about this tragedy. Esophageal Cancer took the life of my favorite Ravens fan, my husband Monte Mordecai. His death, like that of so many American men, could likely have been prevented with early detection. Show your loved ones how much their lives mean to you by making sure that if they suffer with persistent reflux, they get checked.

This is so sad.I loved watching Ravens training camp videos and behind the scenes sideline videos and seeing him interact with our D line.I definitely remember hearing that voice ringing out at practice and his energy as the article said. RIP CB!

Losing Coach Brooks after losing Tray Walker earlier this year really makes you realize that life is much bigger than football.

God Bless and condolences to the Brooks family!

I am deeply saddened hearing this. I had the privilege of speaking with coach Brooks briefly after a preseason game a few years back. He was genuinely a nice person and loved everything about football. You could see it in his eyes and hear it in his voice when talking about coaching challenges and his love for the Ravens organization. His passing is a great loss to us all. My prayers to the Brooks family.

Jeeez. I am saddened by this. My heart goes out to all that are affected. And to those that have passed away that we do not know. This is part of life for all of us.

Mindy sorry for your loss, my father in law succumbed to ECAN in 1996, he fought hard to see his last son grandson, who he was convinced I was having a girl.

RIP Coach Brooks you will be missed, Prayers for you and your family.

sad day for the Ravens nation; one of the finest and great coach to ever been coaching for the Ravens. Not knowing him personally, his results from the players he coached were outstanding, and the players he coached talk about him like a father, a friend, and a beloved coach. RIP C.B! lets beat the Browns for Brooks....

"Great players make great plays in big time games"

It's hard to imagine a man that was as great and big for a football organization, he exemplified what Ravens defense is. A man loved by his players as a coach, and even more as a man.

Rest in Peace, Coach Brooks.

coach brooks was one of my all time favorite ravens, you dont have to be a player or a head coach or coordinator to be loved by your fanbase, we all know how awesome coach brooks is, he was a TRUE teacher of the game, one of the absolute best you will ever see at molding young raw athletes into excellent defensive linemen, nobody cranked out starting DTs out of no-names as well as him, and his sideline footage is classic stuff, he was a mans man and a players coach. i lost my grandmother who i was very close with to cancer, she had it in her esophagus as well, among other places, and that was actually the one that did her in, so this hits close to home for me.

really a shocker, i thought he was doing well with it, i didnt expect to hear anything like this...

The site has some really good stuff on the front page in memory of Clearance Brooks, photo's, clips, etc. The clip where he gets the game ball is awesome. Just the way Brandon Williams yells, "that's mah coach!" ... man, you can hear in his voice how much me meant to those guys. He will be so sadly missed.

My heart fell when I heard the news. CB seemed to be a lot of the spirit of this team, his DL players and their personalities almost mirror the best qualities of Ravens - I know they got that from him. RIP CB
