More coaching news before we kick off 15!

- Jim Irsay says it's "unlikely" Pagano and Grigson are fired but they will see when they sit down and vet the season.

- The New Orleans Saints are open to trading Head Coach Sean Payton and Drew Brees may be on his way out as well, with a full house cleaning for the Saints.

Reports say that Jaguars GM Dave Caldwell will lead the coaching search as they look for their next head coach.

Food for Thought: Remember the above post where I said the Jaguars want Mike Smith? Dave Caldwell and Smith worked together in Atlanta.

I wouldn't mind refreshing our staff with McCoy and Pagano if they get fired and want coordinator jobs. Both of them are probably better there than as head coaches anyway.

Jeff Fisher and Gus Bradley fired... who will be next before the end of the season?

Rex Ryan or Marvin Lewis

Wonder what coordinator will get hot, go to one of these bad teams and get fired by 2020. Seriously, it amazes me how these coordinators jump at the chance to become a Head Coach with zero regard to the situation. They put themselves with a bad team and never give themselves a chance to succeed. You know why Josh McDaniels has stayed in NE? He's smart enough to know that it's better to stay where you are rather take a Head Coaching position with a bad team. Coordinators should learn from McDaniels' patience at not jumping at every opportunity.

Totally agree with this.....

Good coach should stay away from the Jaguars or 49ers or Rams....

So the Jaguars fired Gus Bradley so they could get a head start on their coaching search. Wonder if Chip Kelly and Trent Baalke will be fired tomorrow so the 49ers can get a head start on looking for a new HC and GM.

Nothing surprising here. We all knew Bradley was getting the axe. The only question was when which has now been answered.

Jaguars have named Doug Marrone Interim Head Coach for the final two games of the season. Also it is being reported they want to talk to Tom Coughlin.

i dont think he deserves it but rex ryan might me next - it sounds like there's a power play behind the scenes and doug whaley is gonna win - i dunno how- he has routinely proven terrible as a gm and yet will now be hiring maybe his 4th coach in 7 seasons???

yeah rex will be gone, mike mccoy will probably be gone, and maybe todd bowles

which leaves jags (taken over by coughlin probably), rams, bills, chargers, jets to fill - and i reckon anthony lynn will fill the bills job (like dirk koetter did to replace lovie smith) which leaves rams, chargers, jets

i dunno why payton would go to the rams but that seems to be the reported deal at the moment (although that seems to happen every year) but the fact that tom benson actually came to the press conference and sounded pretty senile might suggest that given minimal compensation, payton might end up in LA next year - only reason why i can see him wanting to go is that his family is all from california and stuff like that - the problem for the rams is that they will feel like they have to have a big name take over and it might not be the best guy for the job

that chargers job is gonna be the one people want though - franchise qb, no1 wide receiver, good looking rb, a couple of good lineman and some utility wideouts, at least one good looking tight end, the defensive rookie of the year, some good looking inside backers and a couple of good corners... that's probably the best selection of parts available in a new job available for a long time in the league

the jets i have no idea what they are doing or gonna do

On phone but NFL mobile told me

Would we want Rex back as a defensive coordinator?  I doubt he'll find another head coach job.

Bills defense has not been good the past couple years with great talent. Not worth it to me

In fact, it's regressed when Schwartz was their DC.

Can't believe it's not a total house cleaning. GM Doug Waley will lead the coaching search yet Rex was the third coach in his tenure. He's getting the chance to hire his fourth head coach and the Bills roster isn't that good.

I've yet to come across a Bills fan who DOESN'T want him gone.

Then there's also what happens with Tyrod? L.A., San Fran?

"Quarterback situation: Tyrod Taylor's contract should be an asset, but he looks like a goner in Buffalo. Rapoport reported that the Bills will bench Tyrod Taylor this week in favor of EJ Manuel, Whaley's hand-picked quarterback from the 2013 draft. Taylor is coming off one of the best games of his career and a season where he comfortably fit in the middle of all NFL starters."

Marcell Dareus didn't waste time talking about Rex. Dareus was quoted as saying Rex's scheme was "too complicated".

Quote

"It was just too much detail for a lot of guys, and I feel like for a lot of guys it was too much going on for them to check here and check there, if this happens and that happens. Then nine times out of ten, a team will throw something out there that we weren't prepared for, and then the adjustment to it, we had to get use to and try to make it happen and make plays."
