[News] Late For Work 9/15: What to Make Of Breshad Perriman's Calf Injury?

40 posts in this topic

Here's where you can buy that Joe Flacco 'ELITE' shirt. Teams that start 2-0 have a good chance of making the playoffs. Derrick Mason is one of 94 nominees for the 2017 Hall of Fame. Terrance West expects to be booed in Cleveland. The best NFL player you've never heard of (unless you live in Baltimore).

Ravens have won 14 of last 16 games against the Browns, recording a plus-11 turnover margin.

It would be real nice, if we could get our first of many turnovers this season this weekend.  Would love to finish on the + side this year.

I tweeted Perriman to let me know if he's practicing today. I won't tell you because I promised to keep it secret if he ever tweets me back!

We are all going to cringe anytime we here there is a issue with Perriman, but the X-Factor is Wallace....He still has it, and he was so right when he said he needed to play for a QB with a strong arm, it offended Bridgewater when he said it, but, hey after 1 game, he gets his first TD of over 50 yards in over 3 years......And Moore like i said before has strong hands that reminds me of Boldin's hands....To me Perriman playing this year is a bonus.....I am just hoping he practices today, and continue his comeback...

I totally agree, Stix. We have the weapons to spread it around and keep the defenses guessing. Perriman's status isn't going to make or break this season for us. The part that gets me is he made some great daggum catches in Game 1. He could break the curse of the 1st round WR busts if he could just get and STAY healthy. Very frustrating.

I have always been a McNabb fan, and I think he had a fantastic and very underappreciated career. If he'd won a Super Bowl, I think he'd be a first-round HOFer. Without it, I feel like he won't get in for a while (if ever) and that's a shame. I'd vote for him! And Tomlinson, this year too.

We have the deep threat (Wallace) and we have the possession guy (Smith Sr.). Perriman has both skill sets, I believe. Now, the question is, who's gonna be our slot guy? I don't see anybody embracing that role.

Love the Elite t-shirt and the creativity put into it. And the longer story behind it of how Ravens players have taken what was initially a critical statement "is Joe an elite quarterback?" And drained all the seriousness out of it and made it something fun and funny ??? I'd just suggest to barstool sports to consider making it in female tee too ? I'd def buy one. And ofc he's elite, any multiple playoff and SB qb is elite to get there and win it with team, ...and be the mvp of that game... But we can 'hope' one day the rest of NFL will aknowledge that lol.

It's hard for me to understand why a professional athlete is wearing an oxygen deprivation mask. Ray Rice almost assuredly has a strength and conditioning coach. He or she obviously has a poor understanding of human physiology if they let their client wear one of those masks. One of the biggest fitness scams in recent memory.

McCown had a decent year with the Bears in 2013 and with the Browns in 2015, but for the most part he is known to throw as many interceptions as tds, and he is 37 years old, So, I wouldn't be surprised to see him throw an int or two this weekend.

TBH, I don't think it needs clarification each and every time there's a missed practice, how much Perriman wants to be out there training and how much he's bothered by the missed practices - it's kind of evident and needs no emphasis. Nobody thinks Perriman enjoys being hurt and missing valuable practice time, or that he doesn't care.

Also, it's kind of irrelevant. If he misses a practices, he misses the job he could do that day. No matter how much he hates missing it.

And that, of course, applies to any other player.

But yet he carved us up last year.

"Ravens offensive linemen not worried about how their play is perceived"

Well. they should be. Disregarding feedback is seldom wise.

I just want to apologize to all the Ravens fans out there, because I stupidly wrote a post congradulating Perriman on his first NFL catch and giving him my support for a great career in Baltimore. I realize now that I un-wittingly jinxed him, and will hereby refrain from mentioning him. Once again, sorry.

Yes, I know, but I am hoping the pass rush that was nonexistent last season will force him to make mistakes.  And this season he doesn't have Benjamin to throw it to.  He really only has Pryor and from what I have seen her looks like an average deep threat receiver.

Noticed on that PFF link about Yanda, how the OL was set up. I don't know if they do it often, but apparently it works. Putting Gilmore at LT and lining Stanley up at TE on the right side. You'd think the D would kinda know what's coming, but if they still can't stop it, nice play. So I guess Gilmore would not be receiver eligible, but Stanley would.

If Hines Ward is voted into the HOF I'm gonna puke.

Yeah, I don't see it happening. Everyone said that Mason had a good career but he falls a little short of being a Hall of Famer and they have very similar stats. Mason played a year longer, and Ward has more tds, but Mason started his career as a special teams player and put up pretty good stats before becoming a starting receiver.

Too big of a log jam at WR for Mason, Ward or Ocho making it on the first ballot (much as I hate to admit it, TO has MUCH better stats than any of those guys.)...Taylor, and maybe Thomlinson (again, there's a backlog of quality RB's on the list.) could go in on their first try, but I think Dawkins had a really great career and should be in the mix. However, with Lynch still not in, I think Lynch or even Atwater goes in first. Safety is a hard position to make the HOF anyways, at least until Ed Reed is on the ballot...

I really don't like the way the NFL hall of fame is set up that only a limited number of players can go in...there is a really deep backlog of great players that probably deserve a place but keep getting pushed back due to the numbers game. I guess that you really do have to be "one of the best" to get in, however.

But the fact that Art Modell isn't in the HOF is the real shame...

That might not work out so well. I seem to recall a few years back we tried a play setting up on offense so that a normal non-receiver became a tight end. I think the man we used as the new tight end was Ngata. And unfortunately I think he injured himself on that play. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

SPOILER ALERT to John Urschel's math questions:
I believe the answers to the first two of John Urschel's math questions might have a close mathematical relationship.

Yes. Click on the "HERE" link at the end of the Yanda story. Video is part of PFF'S Yanda yearly breakdown.

Well, on the video I saw, it was the play Forsett went over right tackle for about nine yards.  But thanks to the good blocking, it worked very well.

But Ward has rings so he probably will make it.
