Perriman

Wait, he's not dead?!?!

This has not been confirmed yet.

We know Harbaugh likes to purposely mess with everyone when it comes to injury updates. Its probable he hired a Perriman look-alike to come to practice so that media members would tweet his return and mask the fact that hes actually at an ICU somewhere in critical condition as a result of minor calf injury.

This really makes this whole thread look even more ridiculous.

Yup.  One day.  The guy missed one practice...  and folks are freaking out.

I still have Demaryius Thomas dreams for Perriman. Couple bumps in the road, but it'll just get better from here.

Less drops in clutch situations would be good though. Thing about DT, he's a great blocker. That's something that doesn't really get talked about, and Perriman has shown some of that in limited snaps.

Well this has been an interesting thread.  It still amazes me how people can't wait for a little bit of clarity before declaring the end of the world.

No kidding.

I always thought he could be more of a Julio Jones type of reciever but way faster.

Its great to see him on the field! That being said, when do we start to expect more from Perriman? (Im talking about 70+ yard games, touchdowns, and consistently beating his guy on critical plays.)

Not trying to jump the gun, but at what point is 1-2 receptions for 35 yards from a 1st round guy going to begin frustrating you?

I understand he is coming off injury, but seeing a lot of young guys like Fuller, Coleman, and Shepard putting up good numbers already in their careers is making me itch to see Perriman have the same success.

It's been reported that the plan all along has been to bring Perriman along slowly.  He's still a guy that is probably working on getting into true game shape.

The problem is, look at the depth chart, Wallace is killing it and SSr is SSr.  Bp will get his time, but it was his second game, lets give him some more time, him and Joe need better chemistry.

He also had the opportunity for a huge game.  The 3rd and forever in which Flacco got hit could have been a huge play if blocking held up a split second longer.  The interception in the endzone was underthrown and could have been a TD with a better throw.  And that deep throw vs Haden might be a big gain if that throw was further inside.  Not to mention he generated a TON of separation on that dig route he caught that was challenged.

I'm fine with what he's done. It should build his confidence that he's gaining confidence and most importantly making plays. He's being brought along slowly and will only improve. I think he could break out soon.

He's on a pretty good development track right now and further along than most that sat-out a rookie season from injury. He's getting solid contributions and his confidence really building. He's going to be a beast soon.

I think they will continue to ease him in. The depth chart is really crowded now so I'm not sure he can be the focal point just based on how we're spreading the ball around. I'm very impressed overall with his ability to make difficult catches.

His role has grown from week to week. I expect the team to really unleash him by like week 5. As other have pointed out he could have had a huge game and could have really used his speed to put pressure on the defense a few times.

hes gonna be far from game shape due to rehabbing the whole preseason.

hes also not exactly the most polished guy, hes gotta get up to NFL speed and get ahead of the mental/technique curve, but hes shown his talent. if healthy i think at worst hes gonna be our #1 by next season.

Just because he is our #1 WR doesn't me he's a #1 WR

No need to rush Perriman, but it would be nice to see him make the best of his chances sooner rather than later. He's still green, but should pan out if he stays on the field.

It would seem Mike W. is out to prove to the world he's more than a "one trick pony", dude is balling out.  I see the possibility of him being our #1, Smitty improving week by week and rolling, more support from Aiken, Moore and Perriman. If all of these guys stay healthy it could be quite an interesting season.

he has #1 traits though, just needs to stay healthy and gain some polish.

If someone still has PFF, I'd like to know his yards per passing route run, if possible (not sure if that's a premium stat now). All I can glean from PFR is snap counts and targets, but you can't know how many of those were passing plays.

Week 1: 21 snaps, 2 targets, 1 rec

Week 2: 31 snaps, 5 targets, 2 rec

Just wondering how efficient he is per passing route run.

Regardless, adding 10 snaps from 21, and more than doubling targets and doubling reception count is obviously a decent progression. You would like him to catch these jump balls but he's made plays so far.

It's not just because we're easing him back in due to his injury, which is in itself reason enough to bring him along slowly, but he's essentially a rookie, and we have SSS and Wallace; we know we're going to get good play by those guys, so no need to force anything on Perriman. I actually like how we're handling him right now, even though I am anxious to see what he can do. I think he'll get a bigger role in the offense after the bye week.

Ok he doesn't light up the board but the catches he makes are all great plays, they're clutch and help us a lot everytime. He's already proving that he's a natural playmaker

Thanks for the link, CVille. Great article. It makes me really angry how much misperception and unfair criticism there's been of Breshad on this board. Having been through what he's been through (and the article doesn't even mention fighting through the pain of Osgood-Schlatters as a kid), he's got to be as mentally tough as they come.

Nice to have an update on Brett as well. While he may never fully recover, it's good to know he's alive, with his family, and able to come to the games. Many of us here continue to pray for the Perriman family, and for the family of Trey Walker as well, as they face such difficult times.

Harbaugh preaches that the Team is a family in ways bigger than football, that to Play Like A Raven means supporting each other through tough times, and that the way to greatness lies in self-sacrifice and perseverence, Breshad's story embodies this.

Fly like a Raven, Breshad!

Good read, thanks for the link. Having to go through so much is only going to make him tougher. The kid has plenty of heart and will achieve greatness, I have no doubt.
