It's a GREAT excuse.  We need more hurry up.

Actually, you're probably right. A bad pass is far more tolerable than a bad hit to the knee

It was triple coverage and Flacco thread the needle. SSS catches that pass, pitta catches that pass, boldin catches that pass.

He does miss some real head scratchers though, like the pitta one. Just have to accept it at this stage I think.

Also think he doesn't trust his knee and oline fully. Any sign of pressure he doesn't step in, even phantom pressure.

Every last word of this is truth. I don't know why some people can't accept that.

Denver....  some folks just don't see the forest for the tree.   I would say that you should be like myself, and be "not all that curious" at all.  Because I have seen what can happen when the protection is there.  I have seen what can happen when you have to switch OC's in the middle of a season, and the guy adjusts, and takes a team to the Big Game.  We have a crap ton of new players that need to adjust yet.  All you have to do is scroll through the game thread from yesterday...  it was like a Bipolar OCD party.  I watch the game.  I evaluate it, and listen to the players take on what they see and do.  Us fans don't see "everything".

It's way too early for knee-jerking imo. Joe was rattled yesterday, who wouldn't be? That line was swiss cheese and Mack was mauling over everyone he faced. If Stanley and Lewis can get back to full health soon, then I think we'll be fine. They still need time to gel. We're 3-1. I'm ok with that haha.

34th worst QBR in the league.

throws off backfoot

bad accuracy down the sidelines with or without pressure

Awful pocket awareness on the Irvin sack.

Counted 4 underthrows including a pivotal one for pitta which was an easy throw with no pressure in face.

This team better rebound vs the redskins and put it ALL together OR this will def be the ''dark era'' which i discussed last year..0 cap space...older talent and no young superstars and a declining QB.

You spread a lot of negativity around this board, but every so often you do make some solid points. I do think Flacco has a lot to do with the offensive struggles. But he's not the only one. Offensive line has been pathetic. Run game has disappeared. Wideouts are dropping too many balls placed right in their chests.

My problem with Flacco though isn't his talent. I think he's proven that he has an arm capable of winning a Super Bowl, now matter which way you slice it. But lately it's been his decision making. It's a combination of his own mental lapses, suspect playcalling and overall offensive philosophy.

Joe NEEDS a run game. He needs to operate with a run threat. That opens up the field for his "big arm". It also prevents the defensive line from pinning their ears back and going into attack mode on our weak o-line. He's not Tom Brady.. or Drew Brees where he can sit back there and dice up a defense without handing the ball off. The run game should always be the priority for this offense. And with that said, you DON'T then go out and hire Tresman as your OC... Someone who is known for just the opposite.

The year after the Super Bowl you seen Joe struggle because the injuries to Ray Rice. Then Kubiak leaves, and Joe struggles again as our run game disappears.

BINGO!  The guy that rolls up on you and was awful on your blindside last year is in the game against Kalil Mack.... and you expect Joe to be confident, stand in there and throw???????    Nuff said.

well...we aint getting a run game. So should we just pack the season in? I'd like to point out that the raiders had the worst rush defense in the league coming into the game. So unless Ronnie Stanley and Alex lewis with kenneth dixon turn this around we might as well pack it in. I really hope stanleys foot issue doesnt linger.

"Pack it in" is a bit drastic. But if the run game continues to struggle, then Joe will continue to struggle, get hit, and throw picks. I personally believe the run game would be just fine if we actually commit to it. Tresman is too quick to abandon it if the first 5 rushes don't go well.

But he did .... he made a ton of plays while getting hit. In fact I can't remember a throw where he wasn't hit except for some of the really quick throws and even some of them he was getting it on because of how bad our line was. He just came up short on some throws at the end but still make two throws that were catchable and would have put us in range that were dropped. But we should have tried running the ball at least once in that sequence too

You could almost say it was a clutch throw??

How anyone can watch that game and blame Flacco is beyond me. Again, Chris Moore catches a pass I catch, we win assuming Tucker makes the kick, which is a safe assumption.

It's not beyond me and I was at the game.  I'll leave it at that for now.

I wouldn't be so quick to assume that. We all know that the running game is 80% blocking; blocking can be fixed with schematic changes, given a reasonable amount of talent. And we do have enough talent on the OL.

That's exactly the problem. At least one of the big problems. At least Cam Cameron only abandoned the run game when we went down by a FG lol...he didn't usually do it straight from the first whistle. Just like QBs need to get in a groove, so do HBs. If nothing else, it gives the OL the chance to get and stay aggressive, and that can eventually wear on a defense. Not to mention, play actions may actually start to work for us again if they think we actually might run the ball.

Flacco really seems out of his element in this offense, and it's made worse that he has a bad trait that a lot of big QBs do, holding onto the ball too long to try to make a play (like Big Ben).

The throw he made to Smith on the last drive is one few quarterbacks hit the way Joe can.

He has also pretty close to zero touch on deep ball.

He is being paid to be that guy.

if he does not like what he sees or he is not confident  in something , he should be experienced enough to make adjustments.

based on a pre snap look , he should be able to adjust the blocking assignments or audible into another play.
heck he should be able to change a receivers route if he sees something.

at this point in his career he should be in control of the offense.

dont like hurst 1 on 1 with mack then how about you move the TE there and tell him to help or at least chip or side the RB to the side mack is and keep him to buy extra time if you want to go deep.

His one on one long ball isn't that great. His 10 yard to probably 25 yard throws are arguably the best in the league. He can rocket it in there between  3 defenders, just like aikens drop.

But those lobs over the top really are 50 50. They probably are for everyone though in fairness.

The use of the running backs/short passes to the running backs is actually a priority for these two offenses.

Sad thing is, the Ravens were chipping Mack a lot...

We Did.....  We had Maxx Williams over there until he got hurt.....  Hence Joe's comment about being pretty good early in the game....

And I think with West and Dixon, we become much more effective in that.  We should not be having these issues with this offense... except for getting ALL OF THE PIECES IN PLACE...  Once that happens, we will begin to click.

Dixon and West aren't gonna fix the poor running game. It has to come from the offensive line.

Watch a Rams game with Todd Gurley. He's getting like 60%+ of his yards in every game after contact and it's still coming out to like 2.5 YPC.

Interesting stat:

Flacco was pressured on 17 of his passes (37%), completing only seven of those passes.

He was 25 of 35 when not pressured.

The non-mobile quarterbacks (Wilson, Kaep, RGIII, Taylor) just do not perform well when pressured. It's as simple as keep them clean and they will deliver.

I get that too...  1/2 of that line yesterday was piece-meal and West was much better.  And hearing now what I have, last week wasn't much better apparently because those guys played injured...  My point was that they are the kinds of RB's that we need...  Forsett does not fit this scheme.

Well, I don't really think the offensive line fits an inside man scheme, either. They just don't have that strong interior with Lewis-Zuttah. I'd rather see them attack the edges more, and that is an area where Forsett fits.

we had 2 FGs in 2 quarters of play......

Tru....  Read the new article that is up about Ronnie Stanley that talks of that statement...  Joe was NOT talking about the offense being good.  He was talking about the blocking being good.

Do people watch other games?  Look at teams with o-line problems and tell me how well they're doing.  Ask Carson, Cam, and Andrew how it's going.

Sounds too much like right.  Easier to just be irrational and angry while making QB comparisons lol.

Makes too much sense, doesn't it.  Hence my comment about "How many QB's went down yesterday... and last week....  It can't be that simple...  It has to be more complicated..
