[News] John Harbaugh: Joe Flacco Is 'Tougher Than A $2 Steak'

28 posts in this topic

The Ravens quarterback took nine hits, including a low one that drew a 15-yard penalty. It was his first full game back from a major knee injury, but said he came out feeling fine. Flacco was playing behind an offensive line featuring a historically young left side.

More disappointed in the play of Zuttah & Yanda. O-lineman typically fall off a cliff in their 10-12th year - hopefully not the start of that with Yanda. Will chalk this one up to facing a Rex Ryan defense but worth keeping an eye on.

Still getting tired of Offense going into a shell. Hello, this is the NFL and with the fire power we have there should be no excuses. What accounts for under throwing receivers? No back foot lobs thank God but still they should be better than they were yesterday. Having Deja Vu of Cam Cameron and Trent Dilfer. Please...............................................................

Eh, there wasn't much wrong with Yanda's play other than his two penalties - and he was pissed at himself for those. He had some excellent (per usual) run blocks on the right side. A pissed off and focused Marshal Yanda is going to be a monster next week.

Zuttah however...yeesh, he was a mess yesterday. I'd love to see Urschel back.

I think the O line will be fine remember its just the 1st game and a lot of these guys didn't play many snaps in the preseason there is still a lot of rust to be worked off. They will polish up nicely.
I wouldn't blame much of the offense struggles purely on the offense or Trestman alone, Look at the whole picture when considering we were playing a Rex Ryan team that prides itself on using elaborate blitz packages and making teams 1 dimensional by stopping the run. If anything I think our guys did one hell of a job getting the yards when they were there.
Also consider that Joe as shaky as many thought he looked actually did one thing very positive he protected the ball, Joe had no INTS and no fumbles. Just that miscue of the timing of the snap that was fumbled but that wont happen all the time so that can be tossed. Joe really did show under great pressure from a blitz happy defense that he was there to compete and made sure he protected the ball. That goes along way for this offense!

it takes time for an offensive line to jell together. But with that said, I think we should maybe start looking for a huge dominant center.

how does TOM BRADY put points on the board against the BILLS every game?

Gronk makes backwards jumping 360 left hand one hand grabs behind him over the middle for TDs.

Flacco got hit nine times and four were sacks, that can not be a good thing, and it can't keep happening either if we want him to keep playing, we've have got to stop so many hits and sacks!!!

Flacco needs to help himself and the O line out by getting rid of the ball quicker. Anything over 3 seconds is too long on average. The odd broken play here and there is fine, but that is giving any decent pass rusher plenty of time to get a lick or two in. This is how you defeat the pass rush, quick passes, plus it frustrates the defense to no end always coming up just short.

I don't think Stanley or Lewis allowed any sacks right? I thought most of the sacks were kind of coverage sacks right up the middle.

The offense is horrendous. It has been stale, predictable, with crappy execution going on 5 or 6 years now. The only common denominator is Flacco and Harbaugh. One or both of those guys are completely inept offensively on a week to week basis. It should not be a struggle to complete a smooth offensive series a few times a game, yet rarely if ever, they complete one of those drives. Without the 1 66 yard catch, the offense was lethargic and poor the entire game against a team with a bunch of starting guys out on D, and probably not a playoff contender.

i am glad that we won but i do not like how our offense keeps falling short on most of our drives we should of had at least thirty points but our offense would stall. we won that game because of our defense finally

No one has ever doubted Joe's toughness. What we doubt is those who can't see the forest for the trees and call him "elite". He is not and never will be. He is just too inconsistent. On one play he will throw a beautiful ball, making us believers. Then the very next play he duffs in on the ground. It is frustrating to see someone who has the tools incapable of putting them together, until the playoffs that is. If we can only get there, Joe is a different quarterback.

agreed. we're targeting a center in the draft or free agency no doubt. kinda doubt we trade for one mid season though i wouldn't mind that

I don't think any real Ravens fans care whether people refer to Flacco as elite or not. The media can call him the worst qb in the league for all I care. As long as we're winning and go after a ring every year, that is ALL that matters
