Becoming A More Athletic Unit

2 posts in this topic

hey all thought that this was a pretty interesting read for the upcoming season....

"By acquiring running back Willis McGahee and selecting rookie offensive linemen Ben Grubbs and Marshall Yanda in April's draft, the Ravens appeared to be shedding their image as a between-the-tackles running unit. They now have an athletic group that can pull out and help McGahee find creases off the edges."

Count me in the "skeptical" column.

I admit to being biased: I prefer smashmouth, strength against strength football. However, bias aside, it takes a lot of athleticism and discipline to execute a running game as described in the Sun article. Compound that with green-ness: the addition of two first year men to their positions (three if Ogden is not healed, and four if Chester bumps Flynn from Center - as many speculate). If Chris Foerster can pull this off, I'll be very happy!

btw: If you want to see a very athletic running game, go to a Navy game, where Navy racks up hundreds of yards rushing each game against much larger opponents.
