[News] Game Recap: Ravens 13, Bills 7

32 posts in this topic

Yes, they still are evolving and need to work on things as the season goes along, but it was a good tight defensive win, and I will definitely take it...... They needed to get this opening day loss record monkey off their backs and they did. I am optimistic about many things, both defense and offense ???

Big sigh of relief from me that Joe could take the hits and keep going. Pees and the D looked good, receivers looked good; O-line withstood the pressure and everyone stayed healthy. Well done Ravens.

D line- C+
LBs- B
CBs- C
S- C
those are my defensive grades no pass rush jimmy playing like he was lost an no take aways

O line- D

our offense as a whole was terrible the O line gave up too many sacks just as i expected after Joe got hit it was over he plays scared running the ball on 3rd an way too many short throws for nothing you would think with the speedy receivers they would let Joe sling it but we keep playing scared ball only trying to do enough to win

all in all it was an ugly win that if it speaks for the season we are going to have it looks like an 8-8 season sorry to be the realist on here an p.s doom would not have made much of a difference

Awesome win, loved to see sparks of talent, but still questioning the Marc Trestman "offensive guru" title. Doesn't take long for teams to sniff our offensive plan out and we look flat. What else is out there though? and we've won a Super Bowl with less. Yay for the W

Yeah l question Mark Trestman as well. He keep allowing Joe in the shotgun way to much and it starting to be predictable. Switch it up a little. Dean Pees had a great game plan today.

Lets not take away the spotlight from the great job our defense did. But lets not give Flacco a clean getaway, he looked slow on some drives.

Its been a long time since i have seen the defense attack like that, and be so quick to the ball, great effort on the D held the bills to under 200 years total offense......Wright was a tackling machine....Now we have real game film to go over and correct some issues, but over-all i was very happy with how we played on both sides of the ball....Kudos to Orr, he really was solid, and Z had a solid game, and Judon has a motor, saw plays where he chased down backs from behind....This defense looked good, J.Smith look like @#R@R@# though....

We got guys like Pitta and Perriman coming back for us making plays. Terrence West fighting from an underdog position. Mike Wallace putting it on the line for us. SSS still fighting at his age. Terrell Suggs out there. Jernigan fighting for street cred. I love the way our team fought today.

I would like to see Flacco play more decisive and competitive. Holding the ball for 5 seconds is not cool.

I give Flacco and Suggs a pass, first time they have played a full game on both side of the balls, and you saw communication errors, penalties that Yanda usually doesn't commit, Suggs played somewhat tentative, and after a few games he will trust his Achilles and be his old self, and Flacco admitted there is work to be done, but some of the drives were very impressive....Holding McCoy under 100, Taylor throwing for basically nothing, we did a good job, as no one knew what to expect....Now we have something real to talk about....:)

Can't remember last time we finished a game without significant injuries.. That felt good.

I agree, it was good to finally get out of a game with BOTH a win and no serious injuries.

So after all the hype of the offense, our kicker and defense win the game. The defense looked like midseason form and would have had more sacks if Tyrod wasn't so hard to bring down. Zach Orr's speed and instincts are a huge difference maker. I couldn't believe how well Wright tackled outside today. Weddle also flashed some of his speed and playmaking ability.

As much as the media will point fingers at the Rookies giving up pressures, Joe needs to do a better job sliding in the pocket. Trestman needs to make adjustments to blitz packages and use the TE's more. We scored 13 pts with all the talent in the world at skill positions and no true threat from Buffalo's offense. We need TD's against playoff contenders.

Overall you have to be happy with the effort, and come away knowing the arrow is pointing up on this team.

PS: It's nice having Hester back there making decisions on kicks and punts. We didn't have a specialist since we let Jacoby go.

This game showed both the good and bad of the Ravens . What I liked the most was seeing the return of the deep ball. 35 yard pick up for Perriman and 66 yard bomb to Wallace in stride. Also I liked that there were no stupid penalties by defense to extend the drives. What concerns me is that Joe and Suggs looked a little tentative. Joe was not stepping into throws and Suggs lack explosion. I think as the season goes on they will find there groove.

I think if we took more shots at 25 + yard passes, we'd have scored even more. You're going to live and die with your QB and you're going to lose more games if you don't give him a chance to score more. We won, and only scored 13 points!?!?!? Most teams would have wiped us out if we played that way. I hope we're ready to go for it more. I don't know if we'll need to next week at Cleve., but I hope we're hitting our stride by the Oakland game. After all, they gave us a close loss last year. I hope we go for it more.

3 "c"s and 1 "b" for the defense....and Jimmy was lost.....LOL

The defense gave up 1 TD all game on a 4th down vs a very dangerous offense. 7 points all game i repeat.
And Jimmy shadowed and held one of the most dangerous wrs in the game to 4 catches for 43 yards and ZERO tds.
AANNNDDD WE WON. And every game and Match up every week is different.

Thanks for your humor though. Or I mean...Realism.. LOL...some people

First game jitters over. A win IS a win. Yes! Loved SSr spin move. Pitta reminded us why he's a game changer (3rd down catches). Defense brought the pressure. Loved, loved Perriman's first reception...

Who cares for perfection? Who IS perfect anyway? Not you, not me, not any team. Important take away is we fought and we won. On to next game.

Seriously, comparing one game into this year (a win at that) on how we performed last year is ludicrious. In case you haven't been paying attention, we were decimated with injuries last year, we have some new players starting, and hopefully can avoid losing those agonizingly close games that we played all last year. And to say Joe and Suggs looked tentative, yeah, they are both coming back from major injuries, so it would be normal that there would be some rust until they get back up to game speed.

And giving three "c's" and a "b" to a defense that held the other team to 160 total yards and only one score? Finding faults with this team is o.k. They certainly need to address some weak areas...but to put a blanket statement that they are not a good team based on one game, a very dominant defensive win at that, just shows a level of defeatism that is truly head scratching...unless we have another yellow and black troll lurking in our midst...
