Week 1: The good the bad and the ugly vs Buffalo

Defense really won the game, but the offense showed alot of promise. Especially in the 1st half. Flacco to Wallace will be special this season. imho.

Some of the worst offensive play calling since Cam Cameron .

I'll go even further . It was way worse than Cameron and possibly the worst play calling I've ever witnessed in a Ravens game ever !

A lot of bad with very little good. Only real positive is that the Ravens came out of the game 1-0.

With how much the Bills were missing, I figured we would have performed better in certain areas. Their defense gave it to us in the second half.

Shareece for game MVP. He balled ou.t. We need to improve our pass rush. Offense needs to step up we have too many playmakers to b stalling like this.

Blame Trestman

I think we were a little too hard on the defense today. I think they played an overall great game against a team that was 13th ranked overall on offense and number one rushing wise. Watkins was held to 43 overall on the day so it was a great effort by the D. Need more pass rush though.

Dean Pees called a fantastic game and the players delivered with a couple of minor exceptions. It's not unheard of for defences to be the dominant factor in week one, so hopefully they can keep that play up throughout the season.

Still a lot of work on offensively, but there's been plenty of promise at least. Stanley had a slightly rocky start but was pretty much lockdown otherwise, outright wrecking his guy on some plays. Great stuff for Perriman and Wallace too, though I'm not a fan of how they disappeared later in the game. It's possible the Bills CBs just stepped up their play though, so it'll be interesting to break that battle down. Forsett and West had good games, and our running game should only get better with Dixon back. Be nice to see us use the running game more, but our dink and dunk game did the job for the most part.

Most importantly, no injuries.

First impressions

Great: S. Wright, Weddle, Webb, Smith Sr 5 receptions closer to 1000 mark
Good: Defense, M. Wallace

Bad: I don't like our offensive play calling, We have fast receivers and QB with the strongest arm in the NFL. We should be more aggressive.
Bills have the good front but our O line was pretty underwhelming and made it worse with couple dumb penalties

All in all, we should all be happy with a win but there have to be lot of improvements made quickly on the offense.

The offense showed promise. I can understand some of our offensive struggles. Not an easy team to ease a QB back into. But Flacco played pretty good. Trestman needs to run the ball more but his playcalling on the last drive of the game was good. Hopefully this is an anomaly on his end.

Really their only TD came from McClellan bottling the sack, so defensively we were almost perfect out there. Aside from how he didn't get as much pressure as I'd like against their back-up LT, there are no real complaints from that side of the ball considering that's what I was worried about pre-game.

Offense got too cute in the second half. I actually like what Trestman did in the first half. O-line has a lot to work on. Too many self inflicted penalties from them.

Other than missed tackles and lack of pass rush, I don't have much to complain about from the defense.

Agreed with everything but to note on Perriman and Wallace, I honestly have to say Ronald Darby is a top ten CB in the league now. He was fantastic last year and today he was great. Corey Graham is also a pro bowl level player and has been great for them. I really think they have a great secondary there and PFF ranks their secondary 6th in the league. They are a pretty impressive defense overall.

You need some time in the pocket to deliver deep strikes. The entire left of our OL is comprised of rookies, Yanda false started twice and Zuttah messed a snap up. I can see why the Ravens weren't aggressive.

Perriman looks like hes going to have a lot of great and a lot of bad plays.

I suggest harbs looks at center options.

Defense top to bottom is good. During the Bills TD drive we have the dead to rights until McClellan missed the sack - Doom wouldn't have. Jimmy had a bit of a hard time to be honest, I was disappointed. Dline is great, Jernigan did great, Williams did what he does best. Orr was active and I loved it, Mosley was quiet which is pretty much a good thing. Wright was a pleasant surprise. Weddle made some plays, Webb can rush well but he has trouble getting the QB down when he gets there.

Offense was bad, play calling was god awful. I did my best to refrain from blaming Trestman but the play calling was terrible. Yanda had an uncharacteristic rough outing, grabbed a couple penalties and I think more pressure came from the right side of the line than the left. People are going to overreact about Zuttah - that snap was obviously terrible and that whiffed block was bad but outside of that he was fine. Stanley did well, Lewis too. Flacco looked good and spread the ball around to like 10 different guys, he and Wallace definitely have some sort of connection. Forsett looked really good, seemed like every time he got the ball he was finding a hole somehow. West was better than the stats would indicate but the same sort of thing that plagued him after the first preseason game showed up again - he trying to do too much when sticking his foot in the dirt and bulling forward would be better. Smith was ok, shaking off some cob webs, now that he's not the only guy out there he mostly getting short stuff. Breshad had a fantastic first NFL catch, second one he should have caught but to be fair he did have a guy draped over him. Pitta's back baby, Maxx blocked well, didn't hear much from Gillmore.

Tucker as good as always, Koch as good as always, really wanted hester to break one but you can't expect him to take one back every game, just not realistic.

Good: Defense was great except for one great play by Tyrod. Shoutouts to Shareece Wright for making like 4 or 5 open field tackles/tackles for loss. Happy to see BP, SSS, Suggs, and Pitta on the field.

Bad: Initially the offense was moving the ball but really sputtered for pretty much half the game. I think we passed the ball 2/3 of the time prior to the last drive. I don't know what the gameplan was. Maybe it was take advantage of the Bills secondary because maybe that's their weak link? The passing game seemed to really slow down once the Bills started bringing a lot of pressure and running the ball effectively always slows the pass rush and opens up play-action. I would like to see a more balanced approach on offense going forward.

Ugly: Nothing was really ugly.

Yeah, if our lack of second-half plays down the field simply owes to their secondary having a great game then there's not much to stress about for the season ahead. A few issues like the Sr miscues should come out in the wash as we keep getting game time too.

1. We found a way to win a close game. That's a great sign.

2. I actually liked the offensive playcalling. Good mix of run and pass.

3. Flacco needs to get the ball out quicker. Trestman needs to dial up more quick passes. Watch some Patriots film or something.

4. Defense looks quick and hungry. I like it. Pees needs to be consistent with dialing up pressure. Never take your foot off the pedal.

5. Offensive is struggling to get the ball in the endzone. Hopefully redzone offense is a topic this week in practice.

I don't think Joe is truly 100%, he couldn't move as well as he usually does and he was throwing flat footed a bunch of times.

tbh he seemed to be throwing off his backfoot last year as well
