Everyone Picking The Steelers

108 posts in this topic

I've been looking around the internet to see who all the "experts" are picking in the game. I have not seen one person pick the ravens. And I LOVE it. Whenever everyone picks one team, the other team usually comes out on top. The only guy I've seen pick the ravens was the guy on the texans that was on Rome is Burning today. I like our chances.

What did you expect?

Very few prognosticators like to really go out on a limb unless they`re just trying to make a name for themselves.

What a stupid statement. For every 1 example of that being true there are ton's of examples showing otherwise.

Maybe so, but I'd take everyone picking against us any day of the week. The ravens always do better as the underdog.

It's been true so far this post-season, Nobody expected Arizona to go in and blow Carolina up..but they DID, Although people knew the Eagles had it in them to beat the Giants I only seen one or 2 people actually PICK them to win. Nobody thought the Ravens would beat Tennessee! guess what? WE DID.

Its a true statement in Baltimore. Every game we go in as the underdog we pull out a huge win. Take week 3 with the Colts for instance, Everyone thought we'd beat them. But GUESS what? They blew us out. Just like Tennessee blew out the Steelers.

Its a valid argument thats proved true.

I remember in the 1995 Super Bowl, everyone was taking Dallas....and Dallas won.

I remember in 2004 in the AFC Championship Game, everyone was taking the Patriots, and New England won.

Hell, last weekend, everyone was taking Pittsburgh over San Diego, and well, we won.

Quite frankly, everyone picking against you means that the other team is viewed to be outright better. And there is usually a reason for that.

I actually saw ALOT of people taking the chargers cuz they said they were the hot team. So your argument is flawed.

Good. Let them pick against the Ravens. If they end up being right, then oh well. If they end up being wrong, then better for us.

Their jobs are to watch sports and talk about it; sure, it's not as easy as it sounds, but at the end of the day, it beats doing the millions of other jobs out there that everyone else has to do. That said, I could care less what they think this week, because at the end of the day, they can't take away how special this year has been for us.

Listen, you will never find everyone taking one team.....but it was 90% taking Pittsburgh, and there was good reason. We were a far better team.

I think I only heard one person pick the Ravens to beat Tennessee. I'd be lying if I said it was a game I wasen't worried about.

Yep, but in this case I think its the intangebles that people are looking at because these teams are so close (home field and the ravens injuries). If these two teams were playing at full strength on a neutral field, the Vegas line would be even and the so called picks from the experts would be 50/50.

Its gonna be a great game, but I am lovin having home field and seeing the Ravens injury report!!

Are the Steelers a better team right now? Probably, leaning more towards yes than anything; they're healthier than the Ravens, and have had more success this season than Baltimore.

The only thing I'm more concerned with is whether the Steelers will remain the better team on Sunday. Then anything outside of that day, I could care less about Pittsburgh until the two teams square off again.

Oh come on now, I said the statement was stupid. Plenty of intelligant individuals have made stupid statements, I was in no way trying to insult the poster of that statement.

Yes, you are Ravens fans and that is clouding your judgement, hence the stupid statement! ;)

I do believe the Ravens Rank at #4 for scoring for the regualr season and PITTS ranked at #9

Rk Team G Pts/G TotPts Pts Pts/G Rsh Rec PRet
1 San Diego Chargers 16 27.4 439 439 27.4 13 34
2 New England Patriots 16 25.6 410 410 25.6 21
3 New York Jets 16 25.3 405 405 25.3 20 22
4 Baltimore Ravens 16 24.1 385 385 24.1 20
5 Indianapolis Colts 16 23.6 377 377 23.6 13 27
6 Tennessee Titans 16 23.4 375 375 23.4 24
7 Denver Broncos 16 23.1 370 370 23.1 15 25
8 Houston Texans 16 22.9 366 366 22.9
9 Pittsburgh Steelers 16 21.7 347 347 21.7 16 19

AND in Post Season guess what Baltimore is #2 and Pitts is #3

1 San Diego Chargers 2 23.5 47 47 23.5
2 Baltimore Ravens 2 20 40 40 20.0
3 Pittsburgh Steelers 1 35 35 35 35.0

Why last weekend were the 6 seeded teams the smallest point spread against the 1 seeds?

The makers of those spreads obviously knew something.

The way the playoffs have gone thus far anything can happen(even two 6 seeds meeting in the super bowl)never happened before.

Because we only played one game as a result of our regular season results (and winning the division which we share).

GAWD I HATE STATS!!!
