Pick your playmaker- week 1 vs. BUF

68 posts in this topic

thought this would be a fun idea, sort of like the click to pick on 105.7, pick your playmaker every week. Predict a player you think will have a big game or could make a big game altering play.

I'm gonna go bold and pick Correa, I think he was holding back and also being used wrong in the infamously vanilla preseason, I think his speed and instincts are gonna lead to a big play in coverage, I think he catches a int as tyrod tries to throw to the middle and has to put some air under it since he's a very short qb, the extra hangtime will allow Correa to finally get there in time.

I'll also predict Webb makes a big play, I think he shows to be a good fs and snags one jumping a skinny post coming in from high halves coverage.

Who you got to make a play in week 1??

On offense I'm going with Mike Wallace. I don't think he's going to see a lot of 1v1 coverage with Ronald Darby as I do think Steve Smith Sr. will see him for most of the game and while Smith Sr. is coming back from a torn Achilles, you still have to respect him as a player, he's the last guy I would sleep on when it comes to this roster.

On defense I'm going with C.J Mosley. Now I know its been up-down for him but I think he will have a great season this year. I can't put my finger on why he fell off a bit in his sophomore year but he did have to deal with an arm problem the whole year. I think he'll make more plays over the middle and I do think his pass coverage should improve. Especially if he feels much better this year.

One of our tight ends is going to have a field day.

Linebackers are already one of their weaker positions and our speed on the outside should make their secondary remain honest.

If we had Pitta on the field, I would say him.

Off: Smith Sr, Darby is the kind of match up he kills on a single play basis.

Def: Zach Orr shuts down Shady all by himself, maybe not very "playmaker" but still he'll be the guy on defense.

Dennis Pitta is my guy. I know he's a huge unknown for most but not me. The first time Pitta returned from the hip he didn't lose a step or any chemistry with Flacco. During TC he looked like his normal self and some said he looked better.

Timmy Jernigan is my guy on defense. I expect big things from him this year. I expect him to take that next step from young talented player to a pro and that starts Week 1

I'm going to be bold and say Forsett.   All the talk during camp and preseason was about the young backs.  I think Forsett shows the young guys and the rest of the world that he's still the lead back.  Calling 2 TDs and 100+ yards rushing.

I will be wearing my purple Webb so I pick him for the D.

Offense I think Steve Smith comes back fighting and makes a statement ( again )

Great idea for a thread @JoeyFlex5

Does it really matter.  Just play to win!!!   Team effort and that the only mindset that is truly useful and necessary to acquire a win.

Thank you sir.

I'm honestly feeling very good about Webb at fs. I think he'll resurrect his career there and even maybe stay healthy, playing corner looks a lot more demanding.

Zadarius Smith dominates the edge, keeping the run game in check and sacking Tyrod Taylor twice, once for a forced fumble in our red zone.

On offense, the offensive line will be the playmaker, leading the way for 120 rush yards and no sacks allowed.

Well don't sleep on Anthony Levine Sr. I expect him to be the shadow on Tyrod for the whole game simply because he's quick enough to cover the pass and also tackles and covers well enough to not allow Tyrod to break out long runs. Given his focus solely on Tyrod I also expect him to be in a good position to make impact plays.

Great call. I think spy on mobile QBs is what Levine is made for no doubt. Correa should develop into that role as well.

On offense, it's a tough call but I'm actually going to go with Perriman. He's an unknown at this point so he's not going to get the respect early on especially with Sr. and Wallace also on the field. Perriman vs. a nickel CB is an OC's dream.

I'll wear my black Jimmy Smith, so I'll go with him to come up with a huge interception of Watkins deep.

Maybe not consistently, but perrimans gonna make a wow play. Deep ball, maybe the end zone, will out leap double coverage and come down with a really tough catch.

SSS is gonna have a big game. There's something different about him this year. A realization that this is actually it. A focus. He's going to make the most of it.

And I'll ride with the hot hands on defense. Levine and Judon are going to make splash plays. With Doom out, big Z will get the bulk of his snaps but Judon is gonna get some and he gets a strip sack.

Levine for a pick in that dime backer role. He's on a role and I think he's finally found his comfort zone. Break out year and it starts game 1.

I'll go another route for perriman... Rather than huge plays, I think he makes one of their top 2 cbs look bad and beats them for 5-6 catches most of them between 25 and 15 yards, and 1 td in the red zone. He'll surprise everyone and look well rounded while Wallace is the only one getting deep targets.

I'm going to say Steve Smith just because whenever he goes out there he proves everybody wrong. Yes he is 37 coming off of a ruptured achilles... But just the way he has talked this year seems different than last year. Last year he hinted every now and then he was leaving soon. But he seems almost 100% at this point in time and he talks about having fun and putting everything into every game because he doesn't know how many more he has left in him.

Plus with the addition of Wallace, Steve can work in the slot where he is the most dangerous while Aiken, Wallace, Perriman, and Moore work the edges. Just something about Steve this year jumps out at me. Plus this is the first week he is back so extra emotion is on the table.

Note: If he actually does go off I may get really mad because he is on my fantasy team's bench.

On offense, I'm going to be bold and say Chris Moore makes some big plays. He won't be paired off against the better CBs and could have an exploitable match up.

On defense, Weddle is going to come out on fire to make a point.

Jimmy on d, keyed in and comes away with an interception.

Chris 'Mr Big Play' Moore, gets loose for a couple of deep shots - 2 or 3 receptions for 100+ yards and a couple Tds

Breshard and Moore are the future
