48 posts in this topic

Jeremy Butler ‘deserved’ a roster spot, but the Ravens needed a returner. Tyrod Taylor can still recite all 10 quarterbacks drafted before him. Justin Forsett returned, but the Ravens still don’t have a clear No. 1 back.

Totally agree with you. We should have beaten them last year until the refs stole the game from us. OAK doesnt have a great track record playing games in the east at 1PM either.

Also im going to this game so they cant lose! lol

To borrow the "sexy word", the Raiders are trending now. Not without any reason, I might add.
That said, I don't think they will be as good as advertised. Good, but not that good.

I don't see a Dallas loss either, the love affair the analysts have with Dallas and New England has got to stop! Now I'm going to watch these games with a chip on my shoulder. Side note: TB signed Cecil Shorts yesterday, Butler still sitting on their PS. Maybe he's not ready for the 53 man roster?

I don't quite understand the Raiders or Cowboys hype. Even with Romo, Cowboys O-line is hyped which is why Romo keeps getting hurt. The cowboys defense is practically non existent. Raiders beat cause there was no pass rush what so ever. Things will be different this time. Everyone is under estimating the Ravens. Good

NE has earned their rep unlike Dallas.  Can't stand the hype around them every season, just for them to fail to meet expectations.

Improved OL and secondary.  On paper, they're a better team and we're coming off a loss against them last year, with a 5-11 record.

Yeah I definitely dont see Dallas as a loss. Romo or not. I think the skins will play us tougher than them. Also if anybody can take down the pats late in the season its us. They fear us.

I actually think the Jax and Oak games will flip. Lose to Jax and win against Oak. Those cross-country trips are no picnic with the travel and time zone changes, as witnessed last year with our multiple trips. Oaklands definitely a good team, and not the cake walk they used to be.... but i think its basically a pick 'em with us getting the nod on the major home field advantage.

Jax on the other hands is a team ready to peak. Their young offensive talent came of age last year... its one of the most explosive offenses already, and their OL should improve with Beachum at LT, and they added Ivory for a little thunder and lightning approach with Yeldon who's already a good back. Their receivers are down right scary.

And now that defense has an infusion of young talent. This year theyre getting arguably the best defensive talent from the past 2 drafts.

That's a game I'm worried about for sure. Oakland will be tough, but Jax is much scarier to me.

I agree while Oakland is good I think if you control Amari Cooper you can beat Oakland. Jacksonville proved both Allen's and Julius Thomas were threats. Add in Chris Ivory and they have a good bunch of play makers.

I don't see us losing to the Raiders at home. If we did lose, it would probably be the secondary at fault. I think we will start 5-0 to start the season not realistic for the Ravens but very possible. Our first loss will probably be against the Giants on the road so l will take a L there. The other losses l can see is the Cowboys, depends on the health of Romo so it's 50-50, the Patriots, and split between the Bengals and Steelers (both on the road). So l could see us going either 11-5 or even 12-4 if Romo not healthy. But the secondary must step up for this season or it's going be a long season. ?

BUTLER will probably go on and become a great slot reciever like BRANDON STOKELY,i'm sure, sucks, but atleast I guess HESTER know TRESTMANS offense.i'd also switch the wins,we always lose at JACKSONVILLE,beat DALLAS and i think we'll just beat the RAIDERS at home,we don't lose many at home,if we split with PITTSBURG i'll be happy, just keep tellin the players their not the stillers RIVAL before the game,we'll see what happens.and tell SSR. all year he's runner up or whatever they called him in preseason.

Our ticket back to the playoffs is the same as it has always been. Win the home games and with the divisional games. If we can have a winning record in the division and win our games and M&T then we should have a great chance of getting back to the big dance!

I wish Hester would wear his original number 23 but Kendrick Lewis has it darn. Mike Wallace should wear number 17 due to Butler not being here. He should wear is original number it's more slicker than wearing number 12.

Im happy for Tyrod. He deserves that contract and I hope he does well this year as he did last (just not against us) and keeps proving people wrong. I just looked up his measurables. For some reason I thought he was just under 6' and I attributed that to the reason he was picked so late. Turns out he's 6'1" still short for a QB but a giant compared to R Wilson. I do think Tyrod really benefited from sitting behind Joe. I think if he was rushed into starting his rookie year he may not have had the success that he's having now. A lot of these rookie quarterbacks that get forced into a starting role in their rookie year has really screwed up there career. Its especially so when the draft class is weak and teams are forced to draft your Geno Smiths, EJ Emanuels, Christian Ponders, and Jake Lockers so high that they are expected to start. And who knows they could have been busts even if they sat a few years. Im just glad it worked out for Tyrod. I actually saw him star in a Toyota Camery commercial over the weekend. We just have to keep him contained this weekend. We don't want to let this guy out of the pocket.

Another reason we should have cut Lewis :)

We can win 16. That's the team's mentality but It's my mentality as a fan as well. And yeah, I know, "be realistic" and what not. But I seriously don't see a team in this league that we can't beat. What was it - 14 out 16 games last season decided by less than 1 score? 9 out of 11 of our losses by less than 1 score?

All that with a decimated team? I mean hell, just add Sizzle back to the equation alone and the whole tenor of those games changes.

What then of getting a whole slew of playmakers like Joe, Forsett, SSS, Perriman, Wallace, Weddle and Hester?

"Experts" are unimaginative lemmings most of the time. They don't realize how stacked this team is until it starts winning.

The Ravens are in a great position if our biggest problem is jersey numbers ;)

Wonder if you've noticed something: Butler signed with the Bucs having gone through the waiver wire. Which means all 31 teams passed on him, none of them put on a waiver claim on him.
So, if you think it was a mistake letting him go, you're not only holding it against Ozzie, one of the most acclaimed GM's, but 31 other GM's as well.

Do you really think you're in a better position to assess Butler than 32 NFL GM's?

My - probably ridiculous ;) - game-by-game predictions (red color coded where I disagree with Hensely):

Week 1: WIN vs. Buffalo Bills (1-0)

Week 2: WIN at Cleveland Browns (2-0)

Week 3: LOSS at Jacksonville Jaguars (2-1) (Harbaugh's Ravens are not really good season starters. We've never gone 3-0 under Harbaugh - and won't this time either.)

Week 4: WIN vs. Oakland Raiders (3-1)

Week 5: WIN vs. Washington Redskins (4-1)

Week 6: LOSS at New York Giants (4-2)

Week 7: LOSS at New York Jets (4-3) (Such long streaks are bound to break eventually. Our W streak v. the Jets ends here. Also, we always have a game where we lose to a lesser team - this season it's gonna be the Jets.)

Week 8: Bye

Week 9: WIN vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (5-3)

Week 10: WIN vs. Cleveland Browns (6-3)

Week 11: LOSS at Dallas Cowboys (6-4)

Week 12: LOSS vs. Cincinnati Bengals (6-5)

Week 13: WIN vs. Miami Dolphins (7-5)

Week 14: LOSS at New England Patriots (7-6)

Week 15: WIN vs. Philadelphia Eagles (8-6)

Week 16: WIN at Pittsburgh Steelers (9-6) (That's my bold prediction here. but hey - I'm a Ravens fan ;D)

Week 17: LOSS at Cincinnati Bengals (9-7)

Overall it seems like we're predicted to be on the cusp of a playoff team but not quite there. I hope we go 9-7, catch fire and pull a 07 Giants and win the Super Bowl.

We have the QB to win us a super bowl if we can get to the playoffs.

I concur: if things don't go crazy, we're bound to finish #2 or #3 in the division, with proper chances for a wild card spot.

We will beat Dallas...We are Kryptonite to them...There will be wailing and lamentations and general feelings of despair in big 'D' after we crush all hopes of them being a real contender...

Could we just do without the game predictions. It is so asinine. I remember this article from last year. Predictions were 12-4, with all the GREAT weapons Flacco has. See how that worked out. Just report facts, NO prediction, please. Just oozes bad karma.
