[News] Late For Work 9/5: Trying To Make Sense Of Justin Forsett Situation

70 posts in this topic

Devin Hester is a wasted roster spot.
return TDs are few and far between for him in recent years. Hasnt gotten one on a kick off since 2011, and hes averaging just about 26 yards on kick off returns over the past 4 years which would be great IF a touchback didnt already net you the 25.
and obviously he's not contributing much on offense.
dumb move. and i thought we were over holding a special spot just for a returner. we really need to be.

Guess you would prefer no one as returner because that was what we had before Hester.

All the insiders reports have now been made official by Justin himself. I don't believe terms of the new deal have been released.

returner isnt some special unique position. you can make literally any player a returner and we're not going to get anything out of Hester we couldnt get from someone else.

To be fair for those, like myself felt that Butler, and Brooks earned a spot on the team, is pre-season is the only time we can watch players and judge them....Because the starters hardly play, all we can do is judge the players who play, and Butler pretty much caught everything thrown his way, and Brooks was all over the field, both were consistent through pre-season, and camp....Now we all know if need be we can always snatch Butler off the the Bucs PS if need be, so thats always a good option to have....Brooks i have a feeling will get a shot with the Eagles, and that move i think we might regret, as he could play Safety, CB, ST.....Harbs always preached a more a player can do the better, and Brooks couldn't do much more, than be able to play all those positions....JMO....

If there was a big picture here, does it really matter how anybody does in preseason?they are gonna keep who they like no matter what, so the coach preaching stepping up, did not matter a hill of beans, but if you screwed up, like drops and fumbles, then you better watch out.

Unless your Taliferro or Allen.. I understand we will be releasing Zo when he comes back but I would of much rather had Butler than Allen, same with Brooks over Lewis.

That's not the case for PRs. According to Harbaugh, anyone can go out and catch kickoffs, but consistently tracking and fielding punts cleanly is difficult and most players can't do it. If Hester can avoid mistakes, give us just a few extra yds each game, and give us a couple big returns this year, he will probably make a bigger impact than a 6th receiver that never sees significant playing time.

gamble paid off, I wonder if other teams stayed away from Forsett thinking that the Ravens knew something they didn't?? I also wonder will the Ravens carry 4 RB once Dixon is available? Its never good to plan for injuries but 1 out of 4 needing recovery from some sort or another probably is par for the course.

Same for Hurst?
