[News] Ravens Agree To Terms With Veteran Returner Devin Hester

I seriously think the Ravens front office has had some sort of decline in common sense. Harbaugh is chasing a has been returner for kick-offs which won't exist after the season starts. Harbaugh must have bumped his head and thought he was in the year 2006 when he was still a special teams chump in love with the "greatest" returner so he has to say he coached him. 4 million? Seriously. Well, for those of you who want to see Ozzie and Harbaugh gone, they might have done it. Also, what message are you sending when a player who puts cheating above the team and a player who puts dope ahead of the team is on the roster, but Butler who busted butt for years, sat on the practice squad, did everything asked and produced on the field, came up last year and produced and Ozzie and Harbaugh shafted him. I used to be a defender of those two but no more. I don't want my children to take the message that cheating and doing drugs is preferable to hard work. That is the message Ozzie and Harbaugh sent to the team. Same with Forsett. This front office wants to play games with their players and jerk them around and thinks they will come back. Butler finally had enough and though offered a spot on the Ravens practice squad told Ozzie and Harbs to stick it. I don't blame Forsett if he did the same. Ochi was offered a spot, told them the same thing, hit the road, losers. When players won't even go onto your practice squad the team has problems. It will be a cold day in you know where before I say anything nice or defend Harbaugh and Newsome anymore. I don't like the messages they are sending to the team and young fans and I think their decision making has gone far beyond questionable.

I'll bet Forsett could have run back punts and KO's good enough and saved us a few million. Then we could have afforded that guard from GB.

Who's to say he would have even chosen to come here? By the looks of it he was dead set on going to Chicago.

This is a good move because he is a solid kick returner and can help out in the passing game. Also, the experts are saying that Justin Forsett will be returning here.

Players and their agents pick another teams practice squad based on the depth chart of that team and where they have a better chance to play for the most part. Butler was a good WR, nothing special. In other words another Tanden Doss kinda guy. Regarding Waller and Boyle, time will tell how that plays out with future roster moves, etc. For as much as we get attached to certain players we have to keep in mind it is a business.

I have to disagree. Butler is a more solid WR. Your just saying that because they both wore #17 Lol.

OMG bro calm down. Justin Forsett is returning. It was a plan the whole time and Forsett was generally aware of it. According to Jeff Zrebiec, they cut Forsett so they could put Davis and Elam on IR and then resigned him. Ochi was cut by just having to much talent on the roster we don't have any room. Butler should've been on the roster yet l agree on keeping but he was not that important. We have many weapons at receiver. I know it's fustrating but sometimes it's just a business. We cannot keep them all. You seem like they doing this as a personal issue with them. Just don't give up and keep faith in the Ravens organization they know what they're doing. ?

Better question is why give him a contract that could be worth up to 4 mil????

Hold on, 1-year for 4 million???

Probably highly incentive based and may come with an injury clause. Need to see the details.

this dude really only plays special teams and he's on retirement's door step.
$4M for what?!

at least 3 million of it has to be tied to offensive contribution which i dont expect to see.

Yes, probably better then Doss but a roster filler JAG ( Just Another Guy) player.

Also, it says the contract is worth UP TO 4 mil. It means it's the theoretical ceiling, probably containing incentives and conditional portions - which means there's good chance it'll be even less at the end...

Good point

And once again your desire to keep players on the practice squad has clouded your judgement. First, Victor Ochi did nothing spectacular this summer. Second we are loaded at OLB where as the Jets are not. Its not about not wanting to stay with the Ravens, its about having a better chance with the Jets. Butler is an average player. That should be reinforced by the fact that no one signed him to their 53. He will not make anyones 53 this year. Now if we signed all of the Bobby Rainey's, the Omar Browns, The Bryn Renner's, The Jeremy Butlers we would be doing a disservice to the rest of the players on the team. This is a business. Im pretty sure you were whining about not keeping Bryn last year. See where Brynn is now. These rants you go on are ridiculous. First about wanting to change practice squad rules, when it is clear you don't know what the rules are, and now about keeping average players that you are sentimentally attached too. This world is tough. I have seen employers keep employees for sentimental reasons, and it is truly a disservice to everyone that works with these people because they have to pick up the slack. You can lie to your kids and tell them that if they try hard enough they can do anything, but that is just not the case in many situations. Especially in pro sports.

You are on a roll my friend. Take it easy. The Ravens know what they are doing better then we do.
