OK with it I guess. Keep in mind we are getting the Atlanta version of Hester not the Chicago Bears Hester. Time to just cut the cord with Michael "IR" Campanaro.

I am ok with this signing he'll be the 6th receiver and just mostly Special teams. I would assume they put Elam on IR designated to return or just plain old IR. Or they cut one of them corners probably price?

I still want to keep Campanaro. Just my opinion.

Why didn't they wait until after the first game to sign him. At least that way they didn't have to guarantee his salary right? Very curious move signing a 33 yr old returner whose very job is to be fast. The first thing that goes away with age as far as I can tell is speed. So, clearly he outperformed expectations in his work out.

You are entitled to your opinion but I think that would be a mistake.

Honestly i thought Moore looked good returning the other night....

I agree with you. My whole point was to have Moore and Dixon share the kickoff return duties and have SSS and Webb take care of calling fair punts unless there were obvious holes in coverage. That would've save us a roster spot because I don't know how Hester can contribute as a receiver...

theres a lot more than speed involved when ur returning KO and punts otherwise we go get some track star.

Well thanks for the condescension. I realize that, but my point was speed is a big part of that overall equation and he certainly doesn't have it like he used to.

Maybe. Maybe not. Yes, Campanaro does have a injury bug and does get hurt frequently but he still can ball. I wish we could've kept Butler, Brooks, and Forsett as well. We had ways of keeping them.  How long is he gonna be out on his injury? Do you know?

I don't think anybody really doubts Campanaro's potential and what he can bring to the organization - if healthy. But I also don't think it would be wise to keep a player on the roster if you can't get more than a handful games per season out of him. Seems like the FO just didn't trust Campanaro's health enough...

Based on the amount of returns with kickoffs and punts in todays NFL he will get a chance to make about 25 plays.

I was absolutely sure return abilities alone wouldn't warrant a roster spot anymore - but there's a reason Ozzie is on Steve's payroll and not me :D

ok, so who got cut to make room for him....

I think he hasn't yet been formally announced, and the deal's not signed yet, so no corresponding roster move was yet necessary. I guess it's gonna be Elam placed on IR - we know the importance of the timing: him placed on the IR after 4pm today.

I am a bit conflicted with this signing...... I know what he has done in the past, but he is 33 years old and coming off injury/surgery; he has a lot to prove, and hope he can with us ??

I agree somewhat with you, however, about the old age and loss of speed comment, I wouldn't say that too loud to Smith Sr., lol, he has a different idea on that ??

I love the signing, its going to be a cheap deal and he obviously still has the hands for catching the returns which is the most important thing. Im not expecting any returns for a TD unless its a complete collapse in coverage but i do expect him to catch it every time and make smart decisions.

Not every player is a SSSr. though... but yes I hear you. I am treading very cautiously!
