[News] Eisenberg: No Sentimentality In Ravens Roster Decisions

74 posts in this topic

Cutting Forsett a bit of a surprise but a solid move. The Ravens have younger and cheaper backs who have looked better. Like the article points out there are more moves to come.  Cutting Butler is more of a head scratcher.

I hope all the moves are not done. I am really concerned about the safeties. The position seems thin. Webb will no doubt miss at least few games. Brooks clearly out performed Elam so my guess that's an OZ draft pick that will be saved. They need to add a RB and safety at some point.

So much for the Ravens family concept, you go from a hero to a zero in the blink of an eye. Good Luck Mr. Forsett!!!!!!

if they sign Hester in week 1 they have to guarantee his salary for the year since he is a vet and Ozzie doesn't do that. My guess is they have a wink and nod agreement and he will be here week 2. When we thought Joe was smothered in talent around him, things have become thin with only 2 backs, 5 WRs and 3 TEs. Of those 10, 6 are coming off an injury or surgery last year or during training camp. Oz had a good bit of cap space before these cuts and should get another couple. I am thinking Ozzie is looking to make a big name move.

Forsett played poorly this preseason, while, Butler on the other hand, played exceptionally well. He has matured into a fine wr, but was cut, puzzling?

No doubt more moves are coming. This is sort of just a temporary mandated deadline. I think they will pick up a released lineman and replace Hurst, definitely pick up a secondary or safety, and possibly release elam (i thought they already did that?) I dont think there would be any concern of anyone touching him anyway even if they did want to bring him back after his injury. I wouldnt mind another interior linebacker with coverage skills too.

Why is Campanaro still on this team? he is always hurt

I thought he was injury waived. They may sign him back if he is healthy I thought...

unfortunately running backs are a dime a dozen, they get beat up the most and are the most expendable.i really dd not see the terrence brooks cut,he was great in preseason, but they looked at WEDDLE and said,he's never hurt,we hope.i would take JEREMY BUTLER 7 days a week over PERRIMAN,came down to garunteed money for PERRIMAN.we lose on that one, some other team wins on BUTLER.CAMPANARO makes that catch,no fumble,he makes the team,i think.VICTOR OCHI just sounds like he's gonna be good, hope we keep him on the practice squad.

He's been waived. For now, technically, he's not on the team. He's not taking up a roster spot. If he clears waivers, he can be put on IR.

butler was a shocker, keeping an injured Elame over brooks or ochi is a shocker, i just hope the steelers wont pick up Ochi or butler, like they picked up Harrison when we cut him.

Yeah, shocked over Forsett, but clearly it was a money matter. Brooks caught me by surprise too considering that he looked better than Lewis. I'm shocked that Elam is still around too, but maybe not for long if they sign Hester or another player after the rest of the teams release veterans we may need.

RB is now thin at depth when it was once a log jam. Safety too seems a bit thin at depth. Wonder how they'll address that before Sept 11th?

Yeah, he dropped the ball on the kickoff then fumbled it and is injured on top of that!!!! Kaelin Clay fumbled a punt once and was promptly released, that's a double standard there!

to me,JOSH JOHNSON was the JUSTIN FORSETT of the team,he came here a fter being a mediocre journeyman, learned from his past qb. jobs and would of been great, too damn bad!

does anyone else think we should go after a SHUTDOWN corner if one becomes available??

I wouldn't hold your breath about a team releasing a SHUTDOWN corner.

Players the Ravens should look at:

LG Josh Sitton (rated #5 LG last year)
ILB Sam Barrington
ILB Nate Irving
RB Ronnie Hillman
RB Bishop Sankey
WR Justin Hunter
WR/Returner: Marc Mariani
WR Keyarius Garrett (led NCAA in receiving last year)
CB Dee Milliner
G Cyril Richardson
LB Kache Palacio
LB Freddie Bishop
Obviously Devin Hester

I think all these players have some talent and may just need a change of scenery.

No sentimentality? That is understating it John. Correctly stated it would be a lot of brutality in the roster decisions!

Yup, the cuts were pretty brutal right after our last SB too. Still smarting from all that lost talent... :/

After the shocking cut of Forsett I watched the first couple series of the lions game, particularly when Forsett ran the ball, he didn't break any tackles. First contact he went down. Not the same for West and Dixon, I wonder was that part of the decision.

Kaelin Clay wasn't as good of a receiver as Camp is. When did Camp get hurt? I missed that one.
