[News] Ravens Trim 2016 Roster To 53 Players

178 posts in this topic

If Ozzie doesn't get it right this season, he can kiss it good bye. His last several drafts have been total overall busts. ESPN, may come knocking for a studio talking head!

Thank goodness you are nowhere within a gazillion miles of the Ravens management that can actually make these decisions. Talk like this belittles the standing of the Ravens since they became a franchise. Do you realize we've been in existence for only 20 yrs and have already won 2 SBs? We've put our first pick as a franchise in the HOF? Ozzie is the reason we are respected across the league as an elite franchise? He is the reason why players like Sharpe, Woodson, Siragusa, SSS, Derrick Mason, etc. who made our team outstanding chose our team?

Ozzie Newsome has made us a great franchise and a few draft picks that didn't pan out doesn't reverse the overarching good he's done sir!

ATTENTION!!

Cutting forsett is THEE SMARTEST MOVE THIS TEAM HAS MADE in a long while. I have total faith in Ozzie & company now. And I'm so glad to be a Ravens fan. Idc what who the immediate starter is. I was scared that they were going to keep mediocre Forsett running the ball. I couldnt be any happier with our staff right now. Although I wanted Daniel Brown in our STARTING lineup.

I have faith in Buck Allen and West to still be able to run the ball in week one at home against the Bills. They have key personnel missing from their front seven to start the season. And the Ravens front seven will be giving Tyrod Taylor nightmares.

OMG Ozzie and them have the greatest move up their sleeve. Whether its West, Allen (who I dont like really as a RB) or Houston when he comes back. Next offseason they are going to draft a RB that will RETURN OUR RUNNING GAME BACK TO ITS GLORY DAYS OF BRUTE FORCE SMASHMOUTH FOOTBALL.

Dear Moderators, sorry for the caps but my I have to express my emotion in detail. And this is totally related to the topic and its totally Ravens, so yeah lol.

Soon we're going to be back to our Jamal Lewis, Ray Rice style running game. I still can't believe they mustered up the courage to part ways with Forsett. I thought they were going to sympathize too much for him and sacrifice our running game for a "good ending" for his career. Some other team will definitely pick him up.

Forsett is a True #2 RB. Good for those downs when the starting RB is tired and the opposing defense is on their heels.

Baffling to me, is that Brooks was cut, when they could have retained Brooks, and just parted ways with injured Elam. If they were going to put him on IR anyways, then just cut him and give him an injury settlement. They already have opted to not take his 5th year option, so the writing was on the wall already.

What's baffling to me is that we didn't even get any value in return for anyone! Not even a 6th or 7th for Brooks. We just cut 5 or 6 very good players that other teams will now fight over. I'm shocked to say the least.

Ughhh can we just cut Hester already. Washed up and always injured. I'd be happier not fielding punts and taking them where they lay.

Kind of puzzled why Butler was cut and the FO keeps clinging to Campanaro.

Butler was ok nothing special. Agree with you that we have to cut the cord with Michael "IR" Campanaro.

you are overestimating the value of these guys. No one in the league would give up any draft picks for any of the guys that we cut.

I would like us to pursue that LG Josh Sitton of the Green Bay Packers to bolster our left side of the O-line with Alex Lewis backing him up. I'm assuming however that the reason for his release was cap related and not performance related of course. We have the necessary cap space to bolster that area and help Stanley out. I'm hopeful that the Ravens are thinking along the same lines and are already sending out feelers to his camp...

That would be hard to justify. Sitton would be an upgrade over Lewis for sure. But not a big enough upgrade to justify paying him six to seven times as much as Lewis is earning. And yea we have the cap space this year but the guy is going to want a long term deal. I also have a feeling that there will be teams willing to pay him much more than we would.

Maybe I am. But I'm prity damn sure someone will give something for Brooks. I'm not asking for a first but something. Anything. I also believe that Forsett is also worth something and maybe even A.Brown.

im not saying we get a whole new draft from them but it just bothers me that we got absolutely nothing for any of them.

my only logical explanation is that Ozzie is contaminating the waiver pool so we can get a few players ourselves.

Forsett under-performed last year and the Ravens would prefer to cut him and his contract instead of releasing Taliafero and watching him land on the Steelers roster.

Butler seems to be pretty upset with how he was treated this preseason. Wish him luck on TB practice squad.

No one is going to give us anything for a undersized safety who has never started and rarely played, an ILB who rarely played, and an over the hill RB who was injured most of last season and has had one good season in his nine year career. Other teams haven't been able to trade guys with a lot more talent and value than the three guys you mentioned.

Wait a minute... They cut RB Houston?!?!? I did not see that at first. I thought the point of cutting Forsett was to make room for younger RB's like Houston. Im confused. Maybe they bring him back to practice squad along with Daniel Brown.

I'm baffled by the fact that you described them as "very good players". You could have been realistic and said "good to decent players", but you went overboard and said "very good players" Lol.

To answer my own comment............ I forgot we got Dixon. So we are good. I would much rather see Dixon - West - Houston - Taliaferro, in no particular order. And I said back during the draft that I had a very good hunch feeling about Kennith Dixon. In madden I drafted a RB whose last name was Dixon, and he turned into a complete Stud. I only say that because Madden has some freak superstitious relations with real life NFL.

Hahhh... if only I remembered the guy who said here yesterday that I was basically an idiot for doubting Reynolds would be picked up by another team in an instant and never make it through the waiver wire...

By now it seems all but a fact that Forsett was only cut temporarily and will be brought back real soon - and the only reason was that he was the only RB who could be cut without going through the waiver process - so there was no risk of anothert team claiming him.

It seems that this was a well-thought move which was discussed with Forsett who knows that he's gonna be brought back. Just look at his twitter: he basically never said goodbye to the city, the fans and the organization. His only comment was "The plot thickens." Nor has any of his teammates reacted... It sure looks like this is a temporary maneuver.

As for Butler... yep, I would jhave loved to see him stick around... but it wasn't to be.

He's gonna be on the Bucs PS - so he can be claimed any time we get thin at WR...

Wow, some shocks and some not so. Its about time the Ravens cut their losses from dumb high draft picks like Arthur Brown and Terrence Brooks. Neither of them were worthy of being drafted in the second and third rounds respectively. Now, when they finally get rid of Elam, the last of the dumb choices will be gone.
The one I am most sorry about is Keenan Reynolds. Why the Ravens drafted him, I will never understand. He is not an NFL caliber WR. They did him a disservice by drafting him. Now, maybe some team (who doesn't think Mark Sanchez is still worth crap) will take a chance on him as their backup QB. That is where he belongs.
Am sorry about Forsett. I would still take him over Buck Allen.
Glad to see Michael Pierce make the team. He deserves it.
Oh, and of course Campanero is headed to the injured list again. This guy spends more time there than the doctors who treat them.

I'm sure you have watched plenty of tape on Reynolds to decide that he should have played QB in the NFL, but all 32 teams saw his best chance at RB and WR. But you're probably right you aren't one to make knee jerk reactions very often.

Exactly.. He   would have posted a farewell statement or something of the sort. There is definitely a method to the madness- esp considering we only got 2 healthy backs for week 1. It just doesn't make sense the way they sat him in preseason and Harbs comments- following him around doing charity work, etc. Im 95% sure he will be back on the team in the next 48 hours.

They wouldn't have been cut if they were "very good players". Period

I think IR rules have been changing. I don't think it means he's out the whole year. If we can bring a fresh Camp in after half the year. he could be a weapon for us down the stretch. If thats not the case at all, my patience is wearing thin with the situation as well.
