[News] Ravens Trim 2016 Roster To 53 Players

178 posts in this topic

What Kind of trickery is this? Of all the players on the team we could not make room for one of the best young WR's on the squad? How confident are we that Perriman will make it through the 1st 3 or 4 games, or that Steve Smith is the same player anymore?

I was right kinda. I said Forsett would be the starter (oops) but Buck Allen would get the most touches. I guess that decision made the fantasy football players decision easier on who to draft.

I am glad they kept Pierce. I would have like to see Brooks on the team. I had Butler as the 6th or 7th Wr. He would not see snaps unless someone got injured. I would have like to keep him as depth. Not that surprised about Forsett. He has not played that well since the contract and West and Dixon have shown potential.

Gonna start the season with only two healthy backs, and one of them (Buck Allen) is average at best.  Also, thought Brooks was sure to make the team, and Butler too especially with Camp on the IR.  Don't get it.

For weeks I have said Forsett might get cut, but I figured it would to make room for someone like Butler.

I can't believe they kept Lewis over Brooks.

Well apparently this is the year that whatever the Ravens brass says they are going to do, they do the opposite. First the draft, next the roster.

I could go off, but I'll keep it short. How do you justify keeping an oft injured Campanaro after specifically saying no more projects. Guys that make plays and that are reliable to be on the field will make the team.

He didn't even show real promise as a PR and has yet to stay healthy long enough to even play more than a month of football without some sort of injury.

BOLD PREDICTION: Eric DeCosta takes over as head GM next season.

I have a Feeling they are signing Devin Hester and are looking hard at other Teams Cuts as well. But i simply can not understand why they would just drop a pro bowl running back with versiltality instead of looking to trade him 1st. Why just let Forsett go, why not hold onto him at least until Dixon is Back and then look to trade him if ya can? Im Just Freakin Baffled right now, But im definitely Putting T. West on My Fantasy football teams Now , lol

Didn't see Forsett or Butler getting cut, but I am just a Raven fan and things do change and rosters never stay the same. Hopefully we will have a good season hopefully...???

And Jeremy Butler Deserves a Spot, the Kid has Hands like Glue and is an excellent route runner. I can see a team like New England picking him up. The kid is alot like Emmanuel Sanders of Denver if they would only give him the chance.

forsett looked bad in preseason. did not hit the holes like west and dixon did. our rb situation could be a problem.

I'll just echo what everyone else has said but I do not get the Forsett, Butler, and Brooks cuts one bit, especially with Butler showing up strong all offseason through preseason and Brooks having a great game all around Thursday night...they must be confident Dixon will be back from that sprain ASAP as well. I love my Ravens but I hope these three cuts don't bite them in the butt. Time will tell I guess

Hmmm... Zrebiec on witter:

Think Forsett will be re-signed by Ravens and it will be sooner rather than later.

a lot of teams will make similar surprise cuts which the front office will do their best to pounce on certain guys they feel will provide solid depth. brooks looked good against rookies and guys off the street. butler is the only questionable cut imo but he could return if no one claims him.

Wait, Hurst, Taliafarro, Campanaro, Elam and KLewis are still on this team and no Butler, Brooks or Forsett? Are we trying to win? What is this love affair with Campanaro? How many chances does this guy get? It's getting creepy now.

We also just worked out Devin Hester WR/ KR so he may be joining the Ravens as well, So that could explain the Jeremy Butler Cut

We aren't done, more slicing and dicing going go on over the next few days......One player i was kind of impressed with was RB Houston, he is a big RB, kind of built like Jamal Lewis, and was pretty shifty for a big back....Congrats to West from coming into camp as a bubble player to what appears to be our starting RB.....

I sort of liked Butler, as he was basically the only WR that produced anything in the preseason, and none of the other guys outside of Moore seem to be special teams contributors. But I am not really going to get upset about the 6th receiver being dropped, as he probably wouldnt have seen many snaps anyway. Thank god the arthur brown, elam, brooks era is over. the drafts were horrid.

Remaining players, starting with 2009 - 1, 2010 - 1, 2011 - 1, 2012 - 0, 2013 - 4.
That is 5 years of draft, and it only yielded 7 players. Scary.

Hope that was just a bad run and we can start rebuilding the depth.

Elam is still with the team.

Wish Butler had made the squad, but with a healthy Perriman, SSS, Wallace, and Aiken, his playing time would have been nil. Can he still go to the PS? I don't understand releasing Ochi and Brooks to keep Kendrick Lewis. Hope they can bring back Ochi on the PS. That guy can play.
