13 posts in this topic

The undrafted rookie from Samford made a splash in the Ravens’ fourth preseason game and has been impressive throughout camp. Now the injury to Carl Davis could boost his chances of making the roster.

If you take away draft status, experience, and the name on the back of the jersey, then Pierce has outperformed Carl Davis when comparing the two objectively.

Not only did he do enough, I think he did as much or more than some of our star draft picks have done so far. We won't be doing him a favor by picking him in our 53 man roster, but doing the Ravens a favor. He's stout against the run, relentless in pursuit of the ball and ball carrier and strong enough to get push against the center. He is in other words a 'stud in the making'.

Wow, this guy is a beast. Watching him play last night makes me wonder why he is not a lock to make the team. He sure showed up the high draft picks who get all the press. Like Perriman, big deal. He caught two passes for about 25 yards. So what?

This is a no-brainer. Unless the injury is minor & he's available week 1, stash Carl Davis on the IR and tell him to get ready to take over for BWill next year if he leaves for free agency. Ankle injuries on D-linemen usually keep them out for a while anyway & are susceptible to re-injury (due to the fact that guys are cutblocking, diving and rolling around at the line of scrimmage).

He will be our next NT if we can't sign Brandon to a long term deal, which is a real possibility since we never have the cap space that other teams, and Brandon is going to have big money thrown his way next year...Pierce at 6' 339 is a true NT....

Pierce played well but is not at a BW level of play, yet anyways. BW generally gets double teamed a lot and still makes plays. I did not notice a lot of double teams on Pierce.

I'd much rather the Ravens sign BW as long as it is for a reasonable amount. Pierce is a nice insurance policy, but will still need a lot more experience to take on the current NT role.

I think he did plenty but the roster is so tight. It's a lot of talent on this team and is gonna be tough. I wish we could keep 63 man roster. Keep 10 more guys.

Gotta keep Pierce. He's got incredible strength(just checked out his YT video where he's putting up some really impressive numbers in the weight room, and tossing players around like dolls on the field). Yes, I'll keep him even at the expense of Davis, who is solid but doesn't show the play making ability or the capability to flat out over power the opponent as Pierce displays. We need DTs that can consistently be disruptive at the line, and I don't see much of that from the guys we have now.

Carl Davis is no Brandon Williams.

He's a big dude. And who else was there ready to fall on the football? Matt Judon. Another group that's going into the season under-rated. Ravens front seven. Keep sleeping on this team.
