I'm sooo confused!! Glad I am not the one making these decisions! Butler would have made my team....same with Brooks. I don't question their moves....but i sure don't understand all of them!!!!!

Elam played lights out during the preseason.  They remarked on several occasions how Weddle had had such a huge impact on him.

 

He was alright but l still would keep Brooks over Elam.

IF - and that's a big if - our WR corps survives the season without notable injuries, Butler's release won't be much of a problem. He'll be missed if a couple of our reeivers go down with injury.

As for Brooks - he reportedly didn't have a very convincing camp - and pre-season, except this last game. Apparently, it wasn't enough for him to make the team...

We'll sruvive these couple of days when some of the fans think Ozzie doesn't know how to manage a roster - and then the season begins, and nobody will talk about the cuts anymore ;)

At this point we only have a snippet of what is going on. Ozzie has stuff going on behind closed doors that we are not yet privy to. Until the weekend is over, I wouldn't get too wound up in these decisions just yet. Some of these guys could be back in some capacity as the process plays out. I figured with 13 million in his pocket still, Ozzie would be busy as teams trim their rosters and players we will never know about are discussed in phone conversations between GMs.

i feel bad for Butler.....what else can a guy do??!!  He gave his all....and certainly impressed me! Good luck somewhere else 'cause he WILL get picked up by another team!!! No doubt!!

I'm wondering the same thing. I figured Brooks was a lock. Tackles well, has had his struggle in coverage but he was getting better. I'm honestly disappointed. Maybe Elam is sticking around...

I would rather cut Elam than Brooks but Elam is lucky he's on IR. Man it's really tough for a good player go. Very hard decisions.

I really want Cordarrelle Patterson as our returner if they want a returner. He's only 25 and will be better with us than the Vikings. Hester is getting up at age and probably not quick as he once was. I remember Cordarrelle had 2 two kick off returns against us on the snow in Baltimore but still manage to win at the end. I believe he could be a playmaker for us and returner because we have Joe. I would even trade Josh Johnson for Cordarrelle Patterson if they want a trade. Release would be even better. ?

No . I think he is risking losing them to other teams without guarantee of a better player.

Favoritism has nothing to do with it. They are trying to win  games and do what they think is best for not only the present but the future. Plain and simple. A lot of factors your not considering. YOU have favoritism for Daniel Brown, that's fairly obvious.

Yep, let the man do his thing. He might have something up his sleeve that will blow people away. You just never know. And come week 8 when were 7-1 nobody will even be thinking about those guys.

Brooks came as a surprise but not totally shocking. He hasn't played well in some areas this preseason and there must have been players that make the team as a whole better. We can't look at each cut in isolation, but look at how their release and therefore another person's roster spot affects us as a team from both position and special team scenarios.

Campanaro's release wasn't surprising to me, but Jeremy Butler's release was saddening to see.

He's one player that I grew really fond of. Just the heart he displayed won me over. I wish him the best of luck whereever he lands, but if he clears waivers I'm certain he'll be on the practice squad.

I thought Brooks was pretty solid all through camp, and I think choosing to keep Lewis and cutting Brooks will come back to haunt us, as Lewis did nothing for us last year, where Brooks was finally healthy, and made solid tackles, and was all over the field......And cutting Butler is another surprise for me, as he almost caught everything thrown his way.....But reading between the lines, by cutting Butler and Camp, is that Hester will get signed.......
