He's not officially a Raven, but we're certainly working it out to sign him and put him on the roster.

From  Zrebiec "Harbaugh said Hester's decision is in Ozzie's hands. Trying to work out deal."

Hester is probably the only FA I don't want to m

Camp getting waived makes it even stranger that butler was released. I wouldve thought that definitely cemented his spot. What do I know. My whole you pick the team submission is crap now and I'm guessin others are in the same boat.

Bad sign... Dumervil hasn't practiced in two weeks, and unsure if he will be ready.

Good thing we get Zadarius and Judon then

EVERYONE: if you're posting breaking news that has not been announced by the Ravens, please cite your source.

I agree, we seem to be arguing over cut players that don't seem to be confirmed yet.

Can someone explain what waived with an injury designation means in practical terms?

After a player is waived/injured, the player and the team have five days to agree to an injury settlement. An injury settlement is designed for a team to pay the player for the time he is expected to miss with the injury.

If a settlement is reached, the player becomes a free agent and can sign with another team immediately. If a settlement is not reached, the player goes on the team's injured reserve. A player on IR can't be waived until he passes a physical.

the only thing that will make me happy here is if ochi has a roster spot. I will be mighty peeved if michael pierce is traded and carl '' all hype and 0 substance'' davis is on the team.

Butler Cut??? Really?? As soon as Perrmangoes down, we are gonna wish we had him. He actually catches balls, been a needed commodity in our wr corps over the years, hope this one doesn't bite us in the booty

Lewis returned to practice today. He and a bunch of other injured players, like Pitta, have been cleared for week 1 I believe.

I thought we had already decided to waive/injury settlement Elam, but maybe that's not the case. Think it has more to do with confidence in Levine. I think he's getting more of a role in this defense than we suspect.

With Levine, I see him as the dime LB first, so that's why I don't view him in the safety depth

I'm been using Jeff Zrebiec on Twitter and ProFootballTalk as references.

Honestly, if we waited for team confirmation, we would be hours behind.

Terrence Brooks has been cut... What the hell is going on?

He tackles well but consistently seems lost in coverage.

In what dimension is Kendrick Lewis better than Terrence Brooks?!

Depends. He might be the 4th guy, he has the experience to play there, even if its not ideal.

I posted something from Zrebiec indicating that Canady has apparently been playing a lot of safety this preseason as well, which I didn't notice. He's a late round rookie, so probably still a ways to go, but could make sense to keep him over Brooks for more long term.

I just meant good sign for the safeties.

But, I think the Ravens are in better hands with Smith/Judon to replace Doom as opposed to Upshaw trying to replace Suggs last year.

Other thing to consider is depth at each position. A lot of defensive lineman and linebackers that we all liked (Ochi, Pierce, etc.). If you want these guys to make the team, somebody else has to be cut. That's where guys like Butler/Brooks come into play in my opinion.

If we signed a returner and kept 7 WRs (including him), it cuts into another position.

Waller doesn't count until after week 4 due to suspension.

Waller suspended for four games so he doesn't really factor into The Ravens  53 man squad right now until his suspension is over.

why are players constant being forced to transition from their natural position ? great consistancy man

Because they aren't good enough at their natural position to make the roster, or possibly even be in the league.

Canady was a roster bubble player that I wondered if we'd put on the 53 or put to the PS. I think with his size, we just want to make sure we keep him on and let him develop. It would appear his spot is becoming more secure, but I'm not sure what he's going to be able to give us this year.
