Honestly Allen didn't run great this preseason but neither did Forsett. Allen is the better pass catcher and more elusive at his age in space than Forsett. That being said, I'm still shocked

Releasing Forsett might be another example of a team not wanting a veteran on the opening day roster who's contract is then guaranteed. They may look to bring him back later.

Have to imagine that's just until Dixon gets healthy. With Forsett, give him a chance to latch on elsewhere. 

Dixon is pretty well cemented as the starter when healthy unless West kills it the first couple weeks
