Yeah but usually  teams want their back up players to be useful in other areas since they not starting especially if we talking about a udfa. If Judon wasn't playing so well then Ochi may have made the team and then you got Carter who has been playing well as well. I think even Rmw mention how he notice Chris Carter on the first team special unit so I wound't be surprised if he makes the team

Yep.  Something I've noticed on Carter over the course of the preseason.  Might not fully agree with him making it if he does, but it certainly wouldn't be a shock at all.  Looking at ST has been a key into surprises for several years now.  Big reason why guys like Trawick and Orr weren't surprises when they made it.

3 QBs might be a possibility now I guess.

You may be proven correct. There is potential trade possibility I suppose...

I hope so. I know Flacco got hurt last year but it was kind of a more freak thing with Hurst rolling into him. If Flacco gets hurt for an extended period of time, the Ravens chances are significantly decreased anyway. I just don't see a reason to keep a third quarterback to take a spot from someone else unless the coaches feel Johnson is one of the best 53 and one of the best fits for the 53

With Camp , Butler & Reynolds gone, are Ravens going with 5 WRs? Guess that's all that is really needed.

Could be Steve Smith, Kamar Aiken, Mike Wallace, Breshad Perriman,  Chris Matthews, Chris Moore, Devin Hester

I'm still pulling for Patrick "Anw-awesome". I think he folks a need at IL depth over Arthur Brown.

Hard part for Peanut is that he's not a traditional ILB either.  Think he's a good practice squad guy.  I watched him pretty heavily Thursday night and he continually got washed out of the run game due to his size.

He is called 'Peanut' for a good reason. Very desirable and healthy nut!:D

And he's a prototypical special teamer, fast and likes to hit...and hits hard, don't think he'll make the 53 but wouldn't be surprised if he's got a PS spot

Didn't think both Camp and Butler would be cut. Really like Butler. Looks like they're making room to keep extras at other positions.

But I guess with the top 4 really set and expected to play a majority of snaps, and Moore looking so impressive there really isn't a need to go beyond that.

Could also be with a desire to have a spot for Waller or Boyle upon their returns.

Also really surprised with the Brooks move. Guess Lewis is safe, and with Webb/Weddle not likely to come off the field much they didn't see a need. Levine also gives depth there.

Just wondering who we weren't expecting to make the team that will since Brooks, Camp and Butler were all routinely projected to have spots.

Carter, Pierce, Arthur Brown, maybe Onwuasor? Maybe a guy like Arrington sticks. Who knows at this point.

And i I was wrong about Hester. I imagine we have to sign him now with Camp cut.

arrington was sent to IR..one of the few good things they have done/

If arthur brown and matt elam stay on this roster its proof that the FO are just in denial about their miserable 2013 picks.

I think he knows that, the question is "Why?"

My best guess is to make it a level playing field when accounting for injuries.  If one team has 12 injured players and the other has 6, the one with fewer injuries has more of an advantage because they have less active options to play on game day.

Thanks. It kinda makes more sense, but still pretty weird.

He might make it, those last roster spots are about special teams as much as anything

Far too early to be worried about that.  Injuries will likely and unfortunately mount by that point.

Based on Harbs presser, it appears to me that they'll keep Elam on the 53 and then place him on IR so he can return. Once they put him on IR one of the notable cuts will be brought back to the 53 man roster in my view. So, Brooks could be brought back after placing Elam on IR or even maybe Butler if they're available of course.

We have to make room for them somehow, but by then we'll have had a good look at all of our players in the regular season and who's expendable

You don't have to wait anymore.  If they want to send Elam to IR with the idea of potentially bringing him back, they could have put him on there already.

Ya, why risk putting a wanted played through waivers. It doesn't make sense. I'm guessing one of the announcements will be Elam on IR.

Not according to Harbs. Just watch his presser from earlier today and he clarifies just that point. He said for any player to be eligible to be brought back, they need to be on the active 53 man roster before going on IR...

Isn't there a rule where you must designate the player as put on the IR with the designation to return when you put them on the IR. I am not sure if you can place a player on the IR and designate them to return later

I'll check it out after the cuts are made, but I'm pretty sure that rule has changed since you can now bring any 1 player back.  No real need to have to put them on the active roster first.

there are so many players in the NFL reserves better than matt elam. I don't understand how, outside of FO pride of messing up a pick, he has earned his spot on this roster.
