The final cuts

907 posts in this topic

My roster pics are starting to look like my NCAA bracket.  Seriously!  I trust the organization though. They're not messing around this year. We're not keeping players that need time to develop.  We need playmakers NOW!

harbs to ochi '' we really want you, what can we DO to make you choose baltimore'' Ochi '' give me a chance, a real one '' Harbs you got it :)

plays great when he had a chance..got a few sacks and lots of pressures per play. cut

harbs is a crocodile smile..i'd never trust him as  a person or coach.

Again he adds nothing on special teams and Judon has been impressive along with Chris Carter.

He'd be the seventh OLB on the team behind KC, McClellan, Smith, Doom, Suggs, and Judon.

No idea how you thought he had a spot

And it might be on our practice squad - who would you cut for him to make it?

at this rate im in a jumble..my entire predicted roster is like the opposite of what is happening. we've got old and we're not exciting of a team with way too much emphasis on ST.

Question to everyone: is there a reason why a few players (can't remember the number exactly) have to be inactive on gameday? I never knew the logic behind that.

They can only suit up 45 players on game day. So 8 have to be inactive is my best guess.

There really isn't strict requirement for contribution to ST from 51 players on the roster (QBs excluded).

What are you talking about man? Ochi didn't make the team because there were 53 players that were better or more important to the strength of our roster. I believe that in all my heart. But, if Ochi clears waivers, he'll be on the PS>

I think he knows that, the question is "Why?"

My best guess is to make it a level playing field when accounting for injuries.  If one team has 12 injured players and the other has 6, the one with fewer injuries has more of an advantage because they have less active options to play on game day.

11 more cuts to go... have to imagine that Matt Skura, Patrick Onwuasor, Stephen Houston, and Carrington Byndom are obvious ones.  No confidence in what I think would happen in the final 7.

might as well just sign everyone elses best ST player :/

Probably won't be able to because most teams won't cut them.  That's kind of the point.

Well, if you are ever a UDFA in the NFL with multiple team choices, then I suggest you go somewhere other than to the Ravens. Go with the team whose coach tells you what you want to hear to bring you in and would never cut you ... where ever that is.

These guys know how this works. There are no guarantees.

really liked Ochi's potential. guess carter made the team?

Not sure that Carter will make the team, but I suppose his chances increased a bit after this announcement. I didn't predict either Carter or Ochi to make the team. Expected that Carter would be a cut and Ochi would be going to the PS (if he clears)

i believe ST is influencing this roster way more than it should be.

Given the new kickoff rules and the fact that 22 players start, you're undervaluing them

Yeah... ST shouldn't matter at all when deciding whether to cut a guy thats 5th or 6th on the depth chart at his position.

Yeah but usually  teams want their back up players to be useful in other areas since they not starting especially if we talking about a udfa. If Judon wasn't playing so well then Ochi may have made the team and then you got Carter who has been playing well as well. I think even Rmw mention how he notice Chris Carter on the first team special unit so I wound't be surprised if he makes the team

Don't think he's so obvious without much of a true backup at ILB.  Think he's likely to be cut, but not in the obvious realm.

He's been in on first team ST units

I think Arthur Brown has played well on special teams and hasn't been bad at all in preseason but he just can't beat out Zach Orr.
