The Good, Bad and Ugly vs the Saints

Don't be shocked if Carl Davis gets put on IR and we go with  7 Defensive Tackles and ends in rotation. B.Williams, Guy, Urban, Henry, Jernigan, Pierce and KLM. If Davis is healthy then KLM is out. There is also a chance that we may go just 6 and then Davis goes to IR and KLM is out. This opens up a roster spot at CB or LBer. Maybe Sheldon Price or Arthur Brown get the nod because of special teams. This is the hardest 53 man roster to call especially on the O-line and defensive back group.

Urban has honestly looked like garbage in the pass rush, he is very good at batting the ball but hey he's gotta be good at something right? He has been absolutely abysmal at everything else. I'll take him over Davis and KLM simply because Davis has been a nobody and we have run stoppers already, so at least urban offers something, but I'll take henry over all of them.

Both Henry and Urban make the team. Urban has been getting push against the pass. He has a good get off and he makes a difference this year. Garbage doesn't line up with what I've seen.

M. Pierce is a high ceiling guy that could become pretty good with the right coaching. It also seems like he's capable of playing all three spots along the line, so we might have a decent backup for Williams if he gets injured or leaves.

Pierce doesn't look or move like a guy his size.

The depth on on the front 7 and wr.  Looks like this can be the start of something special.  The future the wr/te corps could be beautiful.  Moore looks like he can be the real deal if he keeps working.  Aiken, Moore, Perriman and a healthy Camp sounds good me if they can play to their potential/stay healthy.  Butler seems to be a sure handed guy too.

Can we please stop saying BRESHARD perriman? That's not his name, theres no 2nd r, how does probably at least half the fan base and even analysts just take it upon themselves to change his name... It doesn't even sound the same, that's like adding an R to flacco and calling him flarco, or adding an R to Terrell and getting terrerell suggs, Ronnie starnley, Dennis pittar, kennerth dixorn, tavorn young.. You get the point.

His name is Breshad.

Lmao.  I've been a huge Webb fan since he was drafted and didn't realize til about the middle of his 2nd season that it was Lardarius and not Ladarius.  I stole an R.

What did Pierce do tonight. It was date night so I could not watch.

He gets "push" but zero penetration, he plays sluggish and straight lined, he only moves laterally when he gets stonewalled and He never moves laterally for the sake of getting into the backfield but just in hopes of clogging a throwing lane, which, like I said, is good and all, but in a fast paced league you need quick pressure, not a slow push backwards, which is what he seems to be limited to.

He sacked the QB in the end zone, stripped the ball and recovered it for a TD! And he had another sack I believe that was disallowed and he was the only redemption on run defense. He played like a stud tonight. I'll be a sad man if he doesn't make the 53 man roster.

I'm still amazed that Johnson overthrew Moore not once, but twice. I don't think he'll have a big role this season, but Flacco should be salivating at the opportunity to possibly having him and Perriman on the field at the same time down the road (barring injuries, knock on wood).

Do you think anyone will put together some preseason highlights or tape,  I didn't get to watch any.  I really wanted to see how well ochi was going to do.   I feel like week 1 I'm. Going to have no clue who anyone is....

Got got a sack, fumble, and recovered it in the endzone. Besides that he was just regularly pushing around the guys blocking him. Not big on stats besides that play, but destroying running lanes and making QBs back up.

damn, watched some of the game - the GOOD, the ohhh sooo good!!! PERRIMAN!!! just snagging a couple darts straight off the bat and making it look like its just a walk in the park, fighting over a corner and looking strong - as far as a little look and some game action going into the season - couldnt have asked for much more - a long ball maybe but damn, man looked like the business - keep it up young buck!!!

Michael Pierce: Thought he was likely to make the roster even before this game, now I'm sure he's safe.

Breshad Perriman: Made a very nice hands catch behind his body, though he also dropped a difficult pass he probably should have caught.

Willie Henry: Seems like he could be a similar player to Jernigan as a quick interior lineman who is prone to personal fouls.

Terrance Brooks: Still seems just a second behind making a big play. He was late on some receptions that he ideally would have prevented by getting there sooner. He showed better tackling today; always thought he was a better tackler than his game 3 performance.

Michael Campanaro: Honestly would not be totally shocked if he didn't make the roster. That double fumble was ugly, and he surprisingly hasn't been targeted much on offense. If they decide to use someone else as the main punt returner, then it will severely hurt Campanaro's value. However, the coaching staff seems high on him from a talent standpoint, so I still predict him making the roster.

Josh Johnson: I'm convinced we either trade him for a conditional 7th round draft pick or trade him for a depth player someone else can't keep who fills a need for us (such as a S, CB, or P/K returner)

Victor Ochi: I like how he gets into the O-lineman's pads and makes himself hard to block. He did it in game 4 and game 3. I think there is good promise there as a pass rusher, though I'm pessimistic he makes the PS after he's cut.

Carl Davis: Not sure about the severity of his ankle sprain, but if it's even remotely bad, it would not surprise me if he's IR'd. Davis seems to have failed to develop and improve from last year (motivation was a concern with him), and with Pierce showing some promise, they could feel comfortable going forward without Davis.

He really made lelito look bad on a few occasions. He was shoving him so far back with ease in some plays.

Injuries have drained Urban and KLM, they're shells of what they used to be.

If I'm not mistaken, he outright beat Max Unger twice. He owes the Saints a lot of backdated rent for all the time he spent in their backfield.

Anyone else a bit worried about Correa's weak preseason showing? I pounded my fist for both Myles Jack and Noah Spence during the draft and I was down voted by many on here. Both of whom look miles ahead of Correa (pun totally intended).

I trusted Ozzie/Eric but I already have a sneaking feeling that we whiffed in the 2nd, especially with who was available. Jack's question is longevity and Spence's issue is substance abuse.. only time will tell if those prove to play factors.

Look it's early, Correa was raw and sometimes really good players don't come on until their 2nd or 3rd season. I'm willing to be patient, fingers crossed that he ends up delivering.

I would be very surprised if correa turned out to be a total whiff. I know we probably said the same about Arthur Brown, but correa at least loves to play football and plays with a bullies mentality, something that should separate him, and with a good work ethic it should be hard for him to stay off the field because his physical skill set is a valuable one.

Yeah, I mean I know he's got some scary health problems but man he is an exciting player still.

Just something that I noticed with Breshad - he's physical!  I was impressed with what I saw of his hand fighting ability.  I think Q said Steve Smith was coaching him up on some finer points, which of course I would expect.

The best part of both plays is he showed no hesitation to make the cuts needed on the routes.  He's not playing with his knee injuries on his mind.

As someone else said, he's also physical.  This isn't Torrey who'll be taken out of games by press coverage.  He had a target he couldn't pull in where it looked like PJ Williams tried to jam him and Perriman spun him all the way around.
