To be fair...you're saying, "if they play well they're good, and if they don't they're not good."

Not exactly a prediction...

And...you read all of this into my brief..."Of course he is aren't we all" statement?  Wow!  Lol!

Yeah but we have a stout offensive line and your pass rush is debatable at best. So, we'll see how it goes. Its hard to beat the Ravens at the bank. Ask Rex he'll be the first to tell you.

I mean, Stanley and Lewis (assuming he gets the start over Urschel) looked good in preseason, but it remains to be seen how they'll look playing a regular season game where they're not just picking-up vanilla blitz patterns. Rex is one of the best at being creative, and we've got an all-rookie left side of the OL, which could easily lead to mistakes and missed assignments. It's premature to call them stout just yet imo.

I do believe it will be a challenge to put pressure on Flacco. He's a good QB. But don't underestimate Jerry Hughes speed or Kyle Williams. How has Stanley looked in the preseason? Does he look ready for your home opener? I will say it'll hurt us not have dareus out there.

Stanley has graded our as the best LT in the league and has taken every snap with the 1s and 2s.

That's the thing...I'd love to be wrong bro!  But maybe I won't be though!

I expect the typical Ravens offensive slow and sluggish start with multiple 3 & outs.  Unfortunately, to me, that's been their mode of operation as of late.

Now that's what you call sittin' on the fence.  Are you in politics?   LMAO!

It's a New Age in Ravensland.  No more slow and sluggish starts.  Think 1/10/10.

Stanley has actually looked pretty good, he only allowed 3 pressures on 50+ snaps, but it is pre season. He did go against some good pass rushers vs Detroit and held up, I think the key matchup is your secondary vs our receiving core, looking for Flacco to do better than 5 INTs which was the last time these two teams met I believe.

If we lose this game I think we're in for another long year, but hopefully with the growth we need. If we can't beat a team like the Bills, good not great, at home, we're not that good ourselves

Naw brah!  I'm not a politician.  LOL!!  My Ravens heart says we win of course but, their previous actions (that I'm still salty about until proven otherwise) tells me that it will be a typical Ravens offense...nothing new or spectacular like we'd all like to believe every time a new season starts.  And we should all know by now that a season opener at home doesn't guarantee a win.

I remember when my wife and I attended the Ravens season opener versus the Bengals in 2014.  We drove up 4 hrs from VA, spent money on tickets, gas, our hotel and even food at M&T.  I was hyped!  Bragged to my Ravens-hater friends and opponent fans about how different this Ravens squad was going to be!  I was pumped up and "just knew" that the Ravens were going to do their thing in the season opener...at home....and in front of we fans!  And what happened?  A loss to the Bengals.....

So, don't post a video of the Ravens from the 2010 season expecting THIS 2016 Ravens team to be THEM or play like THEM...cause they're not THEM!  LMAO!  So, once again, UNTIL this present Ravens team (offense especially) shows me that they can be an explosive and high octane points scoring machine (with all of Flacco's new so-called "weapons") on a consistent basis and put away the teams that they are "suppose to," I maintain my stance.

flacco will have big game and offense will dominate with pitta and akien doing work and perriman getting a couple big plays, so ravens win in a close one

Well I think there's a group of receivers, TEs and RBs that look to be deeper than any other the Ravens have had, so I'm going to beg to differ and say that there are new, potentially spectacular things going down. Not GUARANTEEING anything, but I like ALL of the moves the FO has made and think the Ravens are primed for a good season that begins with a WIN!!!! Of course no one knows for sure what's going to happen until a few meaningful games are played, but the indicators look to me to be pointing upwards.

Let me share a personal pact I have with myself........ After many trips home from PSI Net/M and T with turrible headaches, I no longer attend any games against the Bengals.   lol!

edit..... And I love that clip from 1/10/10. Whether you think it has any meaning or not, it is an epic play in the history of the team and I couldn't resist posting it. That's the way you start a game!

If Dareus were there, he would've have taken up a double team making it easier for your edge rusher whatever their names. Now, the only way you can get to Flacco is to Blitz and with Flacco's quick release he'll burn you. It's tough sledding for both teams. As for Stanley, he was the highest rated rookie by PFF. Not the best tackle but the best rookie period. Now that was the preseason and now its regular season so we're optimistic and hopeful he'll continue where he left off.

think we get this done but as ive said in a few threads now - we're juggling so many balls at the moment - this might not be a pretty win and we could even drop this

qb - retunring from season ending injury, rookies starting on the o'line, only one player wr with in game experience with the team unless smith starts and hes returning from season ending injury, rb returning from season ending injury, 2 new safeties, new ilb, olb returning from season ending injury

the infirmary's back on deck and we sprinkled in some rookies and new hands to give em a hand - wont be surprised if we dont light the world on fire out the gate - happily settle for a low scoring scrappy affair - long as we get a W - even if we dont not the end of the world, more i think about it - could really be a bit of a 2 year process - get some continuity this year - turbo charge it next year

Sorry for those wanting to see a dominant offense against the Bills but I think the keys on offense has to be the running game and lots of TE use. Buffalo's corners are great, outside passing game will be difficult but the TEs should have an easier time getting open against the Bills LBs. Without Dareus the Bills will be starting rookie Adolphis Washington at DE and Corbin Bryant at DT, that's a significant step down and helps our run game. Obviously Kyle Williams is not slouch at DT though. Left side of the oline is obviously the thing to watch, Stanley is going to have his hands full with Hughes as a rusher, it's a nice first test for him.

On D it's a similar story, we have to stop the run game. Our run D in preseason was underwhelming, let's hope that was just the vanilla play calling and the actual D will be great against the run. Williams will obviously be lights out in the middle and Suggs back on the outside helps our case. I like our secondary vs. their receiving corps, Jimmy v. Watkins is the matchup to watch - I trust fully healthy Jimmy to get the job done. Assuming Wright is getting the start on the opposite side, he shouldn't be too bad against Woods. Our new and improved secondary should also help our case against this receiving corps. This takes us back to the run game, if the secondary does their job then we have to account for Tyrod's legs, keep him in the pocket, don't let him scramble. Pass rush needs to be there to stop him from running.

I like how we match up against this Bills team. I think we take home the W on this one.

Can't wait for the season to begin and see the Ravens in action.  Lot's of work to be done to become a strong and steady team, but hopefully Bmore is moving forcefully in the right direction.  Go Flacco!  I am excited about so many of last season's injured players coming back and being effective.  Get a W!

On paper...everything is potential at this point and yet, I've always stated that I'll know more about this present Ravens team after 3-4 games into the regular season not before then!  As of now...these Ravens have done absolutely nothing to warrant my belief in a supposedly, "blow out" vs the Bills and not even a lost to the Bills per se.  However, I'll admit, that there is a lingering extremely bad taste of their constant offensive slow starts, stalls and 3 & outs (including bad defensive play) of the past in my mouth that has me feeling and thinking the way that I do.  Can they be different this season?  Of course they can!  But are they?  That's the question that I need answered,  Not from this board but from their game play on the field!

Love the personal pact.  This year, I'm going to the home games vs the Raiders and the Steelers.  I'll pass on the home game versus the Bengals.  LOL!!

I am so glad we are not opening up on the road against Denver (twice ugh)! I have watched the Bills preseason games they looked pretty good when they played the 2nd and 3rd units of the other team but they sat a ton of starters so its hard to tell. I would be more worried if we were on the road. At home, we good!

I don't know, I think the Broncos are very overrated at this point

I don't see how our secondary this year is worse than the last two years. Jimmy looks to be himself again, Eric Widdle is a gigantic upgrade over anyone we've had here since Ed Reed, and Webb is a much better safety than corner. I don't think Shareece Wright is a world beater at CB, but last time I checked he held it down last season. Not to mention Anthony Levine Sr. has killed the pre-season and has been one of our best, in addition to Will Davis along with Levine gives us depth and guys who can play in the nickle and dime spots. That sounds much better than what we had in 2014 or 2015.

Yeah, the DLine has regressed but you know what looks a whole lot better? Our WRs, I see a lot of talent and impact players there.

I think both the offense and the defense will be in the bottom top 10 range this year.

I think the Bills offense isn't that good at coming from behind, and the Ravens have more of a quick strike capability. If the Ravens can score early, they'll likely be the ones to win it. I like Taylor and Watkins, but they'll have a hard time coming back from two or more touchdowns behind.

Not at all. It's based on a sample of about 10-15 of your recent posts. A couple years ago you were far more optimistic but I get being jaded after last season. And even more so, being jaded about the Pees era since even when his system works it doesn't dominate like the Ravens of old.

That aside, personally I have faith in the organization and I like the moves we've made. I do agree that it remains to be seen, but I choose to anticipate the best rather than hedging my bets with low expectations.

Just a personal preference but I've found, as a fan that has no impact on the outcome of games, that being optimistic is more fun than a "show me" attitude. I just don't think the team "owes" me anything. If they're great, amazing. If not, changes will be made. I can only control myself and I like feeling good about the team.

I'm not confident OR nervous. There are some many different variables than even last year and we've only see the team for maybe ~1/3 of a game versus Detroit. How can you know what to expect? I know I'm excited, though.

I want this team to come out and prove they aren't the same old, slow start, bend don't break (but still break) team.

I expect this team to come out of the gate with a slow start, break, and still win the game.

We have GOT to come out strong and get an early lead. We cannot play from behind like we did virtually every single game last year. If we can get an early jump on them we can control the time of possession and basically just suffocate them with the running game.I'm interested to see how balanced we are in the running /passing game ( which a lot depends on the score and flow of the game) and I'm also interested to see how many shots we take downfeild. Will we put perriman and Wallace on the feild at the same time with sss underneath? We could literally do that all day long  and move the ball. Switch it up with the tight ends and then punch the run down their throat. However if we establish the run early and west and forsett are racking up some yards  the play action will be key. Last year it seems like our  opponents sniffed that crap out every single time and were right in joes face. We didnt have anybody to take the top off and the running game was weak. This game might be decided in the trenches and if the rookies on the left side can hold up along with the rbs picking up the extra blitzers i think we will just literally pick them apart. Key players in this game willl be Terrence west- Ronnie Stanley- perriman - and believe it or not Dennis pitta. If he picks up where he left off and him and Joe are on the same page we won't have any problem at all. Just too many weapons. And if we can get some decent run backs from Hester that will just be icing on the cake. Im confident we can win this game rather easily but mobile qbs do worry me BC this defense has had problems in the past with containment. And tyrod will have something to prove. No worrys though, its not like he's gonna just pick us apart with his arm. And this year we have more speed all around along with suggs back. Let's hope doom is ready. And  Jimmy just better stay on watkins like white on rice. I imagine Keenan Reynolds will be playing the role of tyrod quite a bit this week in practice.
