I think the Ravens are going to blow this one out. I can't remember a Ravens team being this strong in every phase of the game at once. Williams and Jernigan are monsters, Zadarius looks beastly and Jimmy looks like Jimmy again. That's on top of the additions of Weddle and Suggs.

On the OL, Stanley/Lewis is an upgrade over last year's left side and Wagner is healthy. The run game looks great and the weapons in the passing game makes last year's look like practice squad players.

This team is stacked.

If all of our injured can come back and play at a high level, this team can go far. I like our match up against the Bills. The only part that worries me is our secondary. I'm hoping they can turn it up a notch. If we can get a push up front and contain Tyrod to make him throw, I see us winning.

my mom had a black ngata jersey that was too big for her so she gave it to me, and over the course of 3 seasons, we lost every game that i didnt wear it. we werent undefeated when i wore it, but we had a 0% record when i forgot to put it on, and that was for a good 8-10 games over a few years. i wanted a new jersey for a while but i couldnt part ways with it, i thought it was my duty to wear it, and then 2013 happened and i realized it really doesnt matter and its time for fresh one.... so i bought.... matt elam *shudders*

How many games have you attended? I haven't gone to many. I am a rare fool or whatever you want to call me, but I enjoy the game more at home. I have to work on 9/11, so I will be working on an assignment that has me on the field that day and subsequently a free pass to the game. I'm sure my attendance doesn't somehow make the Ravens play better, lol. Only a neat coincidence. I've only been to 6 games.

So I wanted to inform some of the Bills:

First: Tyrod is an excellent downfield thrower and sideline to sideline thrower. His problem last year was in the middle. Tyrod DOES READ progressions and only runs if necessary, he IS NOT a runner first. Also; I'd expect him to be a much better QB this year than last. Last year he didn't win the QB competition until late; also be developed chemistry with Watkins late in the season (also Woods was playing through an injury most of last year).

Also (for fantasy purposes): Who exactly is the Ravens starter? Do you expect them to resign Forsett?

Let me preface this by saying I really do like Tyrod because he never once complained as the backup, did everything asked of him, and just learned. I really like that. He also played for Tech, my alma mater, so points there.

However, I view Tyrod as a Russel Wilson-lite (most overrated quarterback in the league if you ask me) quarterback. They're extremely similar with regards to mobility, height and build, and arm strength.

With Tyrod, he is an excellent downfield passer; probably the best in the NFL last year. He's got an absolute cannon. However (I don't know if this improved last year) one consistent issue from college and the Ravens was that he lacked touch. Short throw? Bullet. Intermediate? Bullet. He just rifled all his throws in and was wobbly on accuracy from trying to push them so hard. I know accuracy in the short to intermediate was up and down for Tyrod last year.

Also, at only 6'1", he's one of the shorter quarterbacks in the league and will often be 2"-6" shorter than NFL offensive lineman, so staying in the pocket isn't advantageous for him (it's why he struggles going over the middle). The best thing to do is move the pocket or have him roll out and pass from barely outside the pocket so he doesn't have an obstructed passing lane. The way to beat him is to keep contain and put hands up in his face. New England did this extremely well in the first game against Buffalo.

On a side note, Buffalo ran the ball four more times on average than they passed it.  Even if you subtract Tyrod's runs, they were about 50/50 in this regard. Taylor was 0-5 in games where he threw it over 30 times.

He'll play smart, mistake free football (generally; needs to cut down on the nine fumbles), but he won't be taking over games with his arms. The Bills would much rather run a balanced approach.

Starter week one will probably be Terrance West, unless Forsett gets signed again, in which case it'll be committee. When Dixon comes back, expect him to be the workhorse within a week or two.

I agree whole heartedly about your assessment of Russell Wilson, the most grossly overrated QB in the league since his arrival bar none.

While I'm definitely pro-Ravens, I'm not one for these..."blow out" statements for them!  How a team looks on paper is never good enough for me.  I need to see that stuff in a real game!  Although it was just preseason, this present Ravens squad has done absolutely nothing remotely that looks like they can blow a team out.  So, until they actually do that...to a few teams in the regular season...let's just hold off on all of this "blow out" talk Hawk.  Lol!

Well I'm sticking by my prediction, however little it might mean. I think the Ravens are significantly better than last year even before the rash of injuries. And I think Suggs comments to the press earlier this month show that he agrees.

So i'm sitting here watching the ND vs Tex college game and I just watch this kid Jerrod Heard run a skinny post from the slot just blowing pass the defense. It instantly made me think of the possibility of Perriman lining up in the slot and attacking the Bills secondary once or twice in this game.

I agree a lot has to be shown on the field before we can say what the Ravens will be able to do to other teams. Also i don't know enough about the Bills to call a blowout. However......

I do agree with this. I feel the Ravens were a Super Bowl contender before the injuries, manly Monroe and Suggs in week 1 hit. In fact many people outside of Baltimore thought that as well. So I definitely think the Ravens are better on paper because outside of KO not much was lost. However there are still some questions that have to be answered early for the Ravens. Stanley has done well in the preseason, but it was just that....preseason. Just like from the regular season to the playoffs, the speed of the game ratchets up from the preseason to regular season and it's Rex on the other side calling plays. T. West ran well in PS but it was PS, also he has a knack for wanting a big play all the time and that sometimes will leave yards on the field. In the regular you can't afford to miss that because that could be the difference between a 3rd & 4 or  3rd & 7 which really changes the play call. Because of injury Doom and Z are still question marks, but small ones imo. I think the secondary is improved but they have to show it on field. I like Tyrod but don't think he should be able to pick this secondary apart from the pocket, so let's see them stand up to the test. All in all I really like this team on paper, know it's time to see it on field.

Couldn't agree more. I think over the past few years we've been looking at the team at this moment and hoping that guys over perform (particularly in the secondary and at the RB position). 13/14 we got that to a degree and made some noise, in '15 those players all played to expectation or below it which we couldn't overcome combined with injuries.

This year I think, across the board, we need guys to play to expectation to contend and a couple overachievers (i.e. a consistent year from Joe, a guy like Dixon or West becoming a star, someone at the CB2 position with a knack or turnovers, etc.) and puts us over the top. Definitely safe to be optimistic about either scenario.

I like our players, I like our coaching staff. I think the Ravens organization has put themselves in an excellent position to succeed. No reason to think we don't open up a can of whoopass on the Bills next Sunday.

Until our offense learns how to overcome their slow starts, stalls and multiple 3 & outs and then to put up TD's in the redzone (along with the defense getting off the field on 3rd downs)...I won't believe this whatsoever!  I want to see it in action!!!!

And that's your prerogative. For me though, this is 2016 and until proven otherwise, it's time to return to greatness!

How is that? My post wasn't meant to be any comment on the quality of the Buffalo Bills. I could be wrong, but just feel the Ravens are primed for a great performance, especially opening at home after a disappointing, injury riddled season last year.

Bills are not an easy win as some have claimed.
This team is not going to blow anyone away this season. Lets be realistic, a lot of guys returning from injury, not 100% of them will be the same.

I'm usually optimistic but I'm not going that far. I just want to win and I'll take it however it comes...I don't see a blowout mostly because I don't think our defense can hold teams down like in the past. This team has to prove it before I get my hopes too high...last year is still fresh

Coming up from Miami for this one, been to many games at M&T but never a season opener! Can't wait to feel the vibe of a real sports town on opening weekend!!!

My son and I always liked the Atmosphere, $6.00 mixed drinks on Ravens walk and the Marching band (in that sequence)..
