Great play by Josh Johnson to stop the clock and not turn the ball over. Awareness. I hope he makes the team.

He plays like a vet. Makes good decisions.

Neither Mallett nor Johnson have been able to take advantage of the massive height advantage our WRs and TEs have. Hope Joe does it in regular season.

Would love to keep Matthews. OH well.

Matthews and Butler have done well this preseason. Both have good hands.

I'm behind you guys. In right before halftime. But right now I don't get all the hate for buck. He's not the best runner, but when it comes to 3rd down skill set he is without question the best option, he has the best hands, best sense of timing for the dumpoff, and turns upfield to turn a dump off into a solid gain very well. I'd take him over forsett.

matthews is only doing this good because he is against 3rd/4th stringers. Some people get too hyped over a player from 1 preseason game

Really can't believe we let Perriman end the night with a drop.

lol

get over it

His hands have never been his strong point..more like the opposite. Frankly, butler has impressed me so much that i see him as our number 3 right now..

btw.. Matt judon really really does smash the QB when he gets there. It's james harrison-esque how hard he hits him.

So you think it's fine to let him end on a bad note like that?

Great second quarter. Judon is a beast pass rusher. 3rd and longs should be fun to watch this season with all the pass rushers we have.

And with our secondary too.

He's a good third-down back, and he reminds me a lot of Shane Vereen from the Patriots and now Giants. That's not bad but it's not really ideal, either. I guess it depends on what we think we need. He could stick around here, for sure. I just don't think he runs very well. His best asset are his hands and he doesn't always cleanly catch the football. I recall three moments in this game he did not cleanly catch the ball. That's a real problem for me as a 3rd down back. He also isn't very great as pass protecting. He's not Dixon but he isn't Forsett, either. He needs to improve in that area if he's to be a 3rd-down back.

Yeah, not a big deal at all.  If that shakes his confidence then we have a bigger problem on our hands.

I don't think it's a big deal. I personally think you're making more of it than it is. We probably planned to have him out there a certain number of snaps and he got to that point.

Eh, it's the final play on his debut (like I say, in the most pointless game of the year), not trying to win him a Lombardi on his last game. Doesn't really matter how well he did on the last play.

He's just very very average and there are guys who are undrafted or on PS's who have a bit more in the bag than he does. He's like a C grade in everything.

That's great and all but if that is the only thing he is good at, why would we waste a roster spot on him when the rb position is loaded?
