Cuts from Other Teams We Might Consider

I don't know that the Ravens have money for Sitton (it'd be like $6M), but if they want to use that money, he's the guy I'd go after.

I don't know our exact cap space but if it takes $6M then I think we can afford it. The cuts we'll be making today should also help a bit.

When I said it'd be like $6M, I meant that's what the Ravens would have had prior to the Forsett release. Now it's like $8- $9M.

6 was probably enough anyway

They aren't - released a statement rumours aren't true.

I wouldn't want him in purple in any case.

Ohhh got ya, there are some sites out here who say we have $11M in cap space but I don't know how legit that is. I don't know the exact number but I think we can afford Sitton at $8M or $9M which is what we could have left.

If it's like most contracts, it'd probably take $3- $4 in year one, but with the Forsett release, you get a little more breathing room.

I would certainly hope so, but he'd have to agree to a pay cut and he's got no incentive to after his stellar play for the Broncos

The Ravens probably have like $15M now, but you have to figure in the PS and all 53 players. Actually eats in a lot.

Nah just read the rumors weren't true. They aren't trading him.

I was confused as to why they'd break up that trio in a pass heavy league.

Damn shame, though, because he and a healthy Jimmy would give the Ravens two top 10 corners

Yea it wouldn't make any sense to break them up.

That would be sweet, but unlikely.

Sitton would be a great addition on the left side but what is the main reason he was released now? Was it just the cap savings or something more? Had he regressed this Traning Camp and preseason? Would love to know...

Some interesting players;

Willie Beavers, guard/tackle

Daniel Braverman, slot/returner

Tyrone Holmes, edge

Pierre Desir, corner

Barrett Jones, center

This has been rumored for a while, apparently

I don't think Sitton is worth it. We don't have a hole at LG. Alex Lewis has been fantastic and we have two backups in Jensen and Urschel who are tremendous backups.

It's not always about need but want, man. I'd certainly think about signing Sitton. Certainly think about that one.

The Ravens don't have a decent backup tackle (Hurst made the roster despite all the competition for spots).  Lewis looks like he could be OK at guard.  He's a fighter to be sure, but with pass blocking issues that every DC will try to exploit until he and the RBs prove they can stop the blitzes.

By acquiring Sitton, the Ravens have Lewis as a backup tackle to go with a big upgrade a guard.  Kills 2 birds.

You could swing Lewis out as a backup LT and get a top 5 G.

I don't see what's not to like. Basically get an upgrade over KO

basically this. let alex lewis be depth which is probably where he is best left as a rookie, we have a rookie LT and its obvious who the better performer is out of the 2, and having 2 rookies on the left side really is troubling(and i hate following the same tired lines the reporters and analysts like to regugitate over and over, but this one is true).

i dont trust urschel as a starter, i know hes a fan favorite but i just dont, i dont think he meets the prerequisite physical needs, and having he and zuttah on the interior together makes for a pretty soft interior, putting sitton there negates a huge chunk of the lack of experience and polish on the left side you would get with lewis, and completely negates the softness you would get by pairing urschel with zuttah. also, i dont think our line run blocks well enough, we need more push up front in the run game and we dont have it, this isnt kubiaks stretch zone offense anymore, its an inside zone and power man scheme, we have the backs for it, we have speed threats to keep the box light, we have the pass protection on the edge, all we need is more powerful interior to keep our inside run game tough and physical.

a guy like sitton could really make this offense dangerous, the difference another pro bowl guard would make in our run game is freaking huge.

-to stop the ravens run game right now: crowd the right side of the line, send one delayed blitz from the left to seal off the backside.

-to stop the ravens run game with josh sitton at LG: line up and play football and hope you can plug the lane before we churn out 5 yards. or you can blitz every gap and hope your guys maintain gap discipline and dont leave a crease, also hope like hell your desperate attempts to stop our power run game dont result in an easy play action pass to the endzone

Looks like Upshaw and Schaub both made the Falcons final 53

This secures our comp pick for Osemele right? I remember reading earlier in the summer that Schaub wouldn't count if he was cut or released?

Small chance of a 3rd round comp pick but a 4th at worst if so

im not too familiar with the exacts of how comp picks work, but i think we pretty much eliminated any chance of a 3rd or 4th comp by signing watson. also, upshaw barely made above the vet minimum, and idk schaubs numbers but id imagine theyre low, and contract price being the biggest determining factor, i would think they make very little difference.

this is just based on the little bit that i know about comp picks.. i could be way off base here, idk.

Talib is exactly the kind of player who would put our defense over the top. Big dominant press corner with serious coverage skills and splash play ability on top of that. He gives WR's fits, not much of a fan of his antics but he's a hell of a player.

Will never happen, but I can dream right?

Can Steve smith recruit him?
