Cuts from Other Teams We Might Consider

232 posts in this topic

Please somebody cut a corner that can play.

Why does this team refuse to have 2 competent corners for years on end now? We're a Jimmy Smith injury away from imploding on defense. Shareece Wright get's constantly picked on by opposing QB's as it is, Powers hasn't looked any better, Davis has potential but is still a question mark, Tavon Young is undersized to play on the outside despite a strong preseason showing. We haven't had a pair of good corners since 2012. There's a lot to like about this years roster but things will get ugly fast if Jimmy misses time.

To be fair we did quite well 2 years ago with a secondary far worse than this one, FAR worse. And even if we had injuries to the secondary on the same level as 2014 it would likely still be better.

If our pass rush is as good as it has looked so far, and if pees dials up the front seven as well as he is capable of, then we'll be fine.

That said, yea id like another corner lol

True. If Doom/Sizz stay healthy and Zadarius/Judon/Correa can give us some juice as situational guys things will be a lot easier on the secondary.

Just worried about getting picked apart short/intermediate and having that rush neutralized. Seems to be how many teams look to attack our lack of a quality corners. Steelers, Bengals, Patriots can all spread us out and go to work fairly easily it's seemed lately.

Breaking news. The Vikings had talks with us about trading for one of our backups. However  They just inked a deal with the eagles and got Bradford for a FIRST and a fourth.

Yup, an aggressive move.

Me personally, I don't really get it. Appears the Vikings think they are legitimate SB contenders this season if you're going to pull off a move like that. I thought they were a good team, but I didn't even think they'd win their division, and I don't think this changes that much.

Beats the hell out of me. Why they wouldnt have given up considerably less for a qb that isnt far off from Bradford talent wise is beyond me. Bradford has more invested in him that's about it. They just mortgaged their future for a middle tier qb when all they need is a game manager with the offense they run anyway. Bonehead move IMO.

Well it is basically just a first round pick, and probably not a very good pick at that, so not exactly mortgaging the future.

My guess is they're also concerned about Bridgewater for 2017. They'll control Bradford for the next two years.

Interesting that the Vikings gave up a 1st and 4th for Bradford.

The Vikings said they wouldn't mortgage the future for a replacement QB, and that is exactly what they did.

For a QB who has never been a winner by the way. And mediocre at best.

Wonder what Ozzie was asking for either Johnson or Mallette that turned off the Boneheaded Vikings?

Heck I'd of offered Johnson+ Campanaro, for Patterson straight up, or for a middle round pick (4-5th round).

1. Again, giving up a single first round pick, one that figures to be outside the top 20, isn't exactly mortgaging the future. If they believe they can legitimately contend this season, then its a no-brainer move quite frankly. I think most people would agree that Bradford is at least as good as Bridgewater, and I personally would rather have Bradford. Learning curve with the offense withstanding, they are easily as good of a team with Bradford as they were with Bridgewater.

Additionally, they can control Bradford for the next two years, since there are no guarantees that Bridgewater will be back for 2017.

2. I doubt Johnson or Mallett have any trade value at all, so its not about what we are asking. Its likely about nobody calling us.

3. Still don't see the love for Patterson. Exclusively a kickoff returner only and wouldn't crack the top 4 at WR on this roster. In the last year of his deal, I don't see how this makes the Ravens better. And under no circumstances does it work out where you can trade a bunch of garbage you're about to cut to another team for somebody they'd like to keep.

And I'm gonna act like an adult despite the fact that my maturity can be questioned at times as well(especially when overly caffeinated like now. Oh good coffee. How I love thee).... Guys, please knock it off.

Wright played good last year and when you factor in a pass rush it should look better. Remember, Preseason defenses aren't really too schemed. That being said, I do agree another outside CB would be nice. Jimmy is a good player, but outside of him there are question marks. It's why I was pushing HARD for Williams.

And here's my question.. Who cares if you are undersized? Brandon Flowers was good for years and he was undersized and he could play the outside. If Young is a good CB he's a good CB.

LG Josh Sitton from the Pack, please! I'd take him on our 53 over Vlad or Wesley.

And no, I don't count Hurst.

Hell to the freaking yes. I'll take that any day of the year. Good idea. I'd trade a 3rd rounder for him.

He's actually been released per Rotoworld.

Graded out as the #5 overall Guard per PFF for what it's worth.

I don't know that the Ravens have money for Sitton (it'd be like $6M), but if they want to use that money, he's the guy I'd go after.

I think we probably can sign him from the cap point of view. Would be nice upgrade at LG and allow us to train Lewis at tackle and release Hurst.

How in the world was Sitton released? He's been a top flight guard for several seasons with no signs of slowing down. If we can afford him, he'd be at the top of my personal wishlist.

They are running out of time, if they are looking to still trade ... unless the report of him being released if no trade is made is inaccurate.

I agree - I still cringe at the thought that Hurst is our primary backup LT. Also, if Sitton is who everyone says he is, that would take the sting out of losing KO and it would prevent us from having a left side of the O line that has no starting experience.

We probably can swing it, but I don't know if there is another position that we'd rather drop the money ... if there would be secondary help, then that's a place I think we'd like to spend, but I don't have any idea if there is anyone worthwhile who will be available.

Shocked by the Sitton move but guess they had cap issues.

Hope we can benefit. We've got the space and while Lewis has played well - there aren't many guards in the NFL better than Sitton.

With how good Stanley's looked, plug Sitton in and we may have one of the best OL in football. Would really help the run game go, and help keep Joe clean.

Not a top need but it's rare you can sign a player like Sitton in his prime without having to pay FA premium prices. Get it done Ozzie!!

Sitton release is def. surprising. I would love to have him here and I think we would be interested in him, just depends on how much we would be willing to pay.
