[News] Ravens Place Benjamin Watson & Kyle Arrington On IR, Release 9 Other Players

10 posts in this topic

What's sad is these IR payers were signed and only started in 4 games total. I'm glade Ozzy does not run my finance. Funny how late rounds do better.

By putting Arrington on IR vs. releasing him - that's a good sign that Dixon will not go on IR because they think he'll be ready sooner. The only reason to put Arrington on IR (vs. release) is to keep him in reserve if the CBs get hit with the injury bug. Since only one player can return, Dixon would be the no-brainer choice if he was going on IR.

The first round of players cuts aren't to surprising, it's the final cuts that can blow you mind away, because there will be very good players get cut....

We are down from 90 to 79 by cutting 11 players. There are still another 4 to be traded/cut before the deadline. I would not be surprised at all if Ozzie's phone is ringing off the hook with qb weak teams looking to acquire Mallett.

really smart move with Arrington... Not shocked on the rest of the cuts.... thought that Broxton had a chance to stick around a little bit longer but we knew he wouldn't make the final cuts either way.

It gets harder from here....(cuts) and there will still be a few tough decisions -even with the injuries~!

Just a numbers game. These guys never had a chance. Doesn't mean they aren't any good. No team can keep everybody. By the way, Arrington sucks. He should have been cut, but a "concussion" gave him a payday for another year.

I thought they would just waive Arrington, but I suppose it makes some sense to IR him on the off-chance you absolutely need to IR-designated to return him later in the season because you have no CBs.

At this point that is quite unlikely. You don't go out of your way for a QB with only a few weeks to the start of a new season IF you are expecting instant contributions. The right time is during the off-season so they can get up to speed with your program.

Jerod Johnson is more likely to be getting phone calls for teams needing a quality backup.

Gotta spend money to make money in business. Also no one knows what is going to happen ahead of it happening. Ozzie is always deploying multiple strategies, knowing that no single strategy is guaranteed to work. The fact they find contributors in the late rounds speaks to this methodology working in practice.
