I really hope he doesn't play much... The fact both offseasons when he was healthy he was playing a good amount over Aiken shows the talent this rookie has. I know getting him game action is important and all but I don't want another 'freak injury'. I really believe he will silence the critics this season and with Wallace also looking like a solid chain mover last week I am excited for this offense because I think this is the first time I have been satisfied with the Ravens' targets going into the regular season. Even though I feel a little less safe with the tight end situation now I think Steve and Aiken can find the ball to move the chains to make up for it.

Guys he has to play at one point. Doesn't matter if it's preseason, if he faces the Bills for his very first game he's gonna suffer because they're not going to care.

I'd much rather let it go a little bit against the Saints Ultimate Vanilla Defense in a preseason game.

I know it's a worthless game but I'll try and watch with my dodgy wifi from holiday in Spain on a cracked iPhone screen if I can anyway

I do.

I won't deny that I too had one foot on that bandwagon.  Not to the point of him over Flacco, no way. He really did look impressive against Pitts-burgh,  which is a pretty significant opponent.

No need to baby Perriman's knee. If he's healthy enough to play than he needs to go out there and cut it lose. I know some of afraid of him getting hurt but neither one of his knee injuries came from contact anyway so if Perriman is gonna get hurt again it could very well happen during warmups or practice. So there really isn't a need to try and save him from injury. I think he should get some really good work tomorrow night. Let him go out and get that feel of catching the ball in a game and taking a hit. He hasn't played a football game in about 20 months. That's a life time for a football player. I'm sure he has a lot pinned up inside of him and it'll be good to allow him to get some of that out tomorrow.

Yea I agree with this, we can't always live in fear and shelter him, eventually he needs to play. Got to admit the article about WRs that miss their rookie year noting that only 4 of those went on to have a 1,000 yard season, which in and of itself doesn't mean you're great, was worrisome.

I wonder what the logical correlation is with that, you'd think learning curve would be ruled out if we're just talking about starting one year later. It has to be something related to mindset and being out of the game too long, maybe people can't stay in good enough shape or overthink it when they get back feeling they need to make up for the lost time. That article just surprised me

I wonder how far back those 1st round WR missing year one goes. Historically WR has been one of the toughest positions for a rookie to transition into from the college level. So missing one year could be detrimental to their develop which was already tough. But in recent years with the NFL going to more of a spread offensive type of league the transition for WRs haven't been as tough.

But also I think Perriman's words speak the loudest. He mentioned how this year his rehab was much different because he realized that he would only get out what he put in. A first round WR has likely been a diva since pop warner football and has probably always been the man on their teams. So now you go from big man on campus to being surrounded by grown men who won't baby you because you're hurt. Also even though you are apart of a NFL team, rehab is a lonely process for players. Even though the situation was a bit different, just look how much it crushed Trent Richardson when he felt like the Browns didn't want him.

Us fans worried about Perriman and his injury more so than the Ravens did because they had 53 other guys who were actually playing to worry about. So i think the mental has a lot to do with it as well. But we'll never really know because I'm sure it's different for each guy. I will say that Perriman may be different in a sense that he's coming back to a team that unlike last year, doesn't really "need" him or what he can bring to the offense. So the pressure for him to produce as a #1 WR might not be as mounting as it is for guys from another team. I think the same will be true for Kevin White because he has Alshon Jeffery to take pressure off him.

Fans wouldn't be happy but if Perriman has less catches than SSS, Aiken and Wallace I don't think it'll be a bad thing for the offense as long as he contributes in some fashion and you can see the potential there. By the same token if the WRs were the same as last year and he had less yards than Aiken, Brown and Camp, he'd have bust written all over him and often times you can't shake that label.

Hope to see no more injuries!

Beyond that I would like to see Ochi make an impact giving the team something to think about.

I'd almost rather him not play much at all so we can sneak him on to the Practice Squad.  If he does play, I'll almost take that as a sign that the team doesn't really want to hide him there.  As it stands right now, there probably isn't any room for Ochi on the 53 man roster.

Will we go undefeated this preseason?

I actually hope not.  Let the team be humble for the first week of real practice.

I'm happy he'll be active today. It will help him settle down before his first game. He'll obviously have the butterflies and will be nervous week one, its better to give him and preview of what its really like to be in the NFL.
