Preseason MVPs

Offense: Ronnie Stanley, no question.

honorable mentions: jeremy butler, kenneth dixon.

Defense: Anthony Levine. Judon as a close 2nd.

honorable mentions: Zach Orr.

really hope butler makes the team, hes been outstanding, and im fully comfortable with Zach Orr as the 2nd ilb, he has made a lot of plays, shooting gaps, playing with intensity and instinctively, and playing with confidence. Stanley has been an absolute stonewall, if o-linemen won OROY then you could just about bank on it, but they dont unfortunately. REALLY hope dixon isnt too hurt, he was a late first early 2nd round talent in my eyes and he showed it all preseason long, far and away the best back on the team.

also want to apologize in advance, i thought the game was over when i posted this because i dont have access to a tv right now and no other means to watch it, the game thread seemed to slow down for a good while and there was a lot of past tense talk so i thought it was over.

I would swap West for Dixon, and say the same thing.

i think they both deserve a mention but i really think dixon looks like the clear best back on this team. they will make a 1-2 punch to give this team an identity, like lendale white and chris johnson back in 08. dixon does everything west does and more and thats why i put him ahead, hes every bit as powerful and tenacious but i think hes far more elusive and explosive.

I don't know about the MVP but by far the most memorable moment of the preseason for me is Sizzle's play on that tackle on Abdullah. That was the stuff that needs to be taught in classrooms.

Absolutely. And yes he did take him to school.

Agreed on all those picks. What do you pick for MVU (Most Valuable Unit: Defense - Offense)? I'm leaning towards O-line and D-Backfield.

yeah thats edge set university and sizzle is the validictorian. if he is healthy and in top form, or at least playing at a 90% level of 2014 form, then we suddenly look scary up front.

our DL rotation has been seriously disappointing though. i hope jernigan gets it together, all the hype about him being focused and this newfound work ethic and losing all this weight and hes been a no-name so far except for a 15 yard flag which hes been known to do frequently. urban looks like he doesnt know what to do, super sluggish and clumsy looking, gets no push, makes no threat to break the pocket, nothing. KLM has been steady, so has guy, but im sure most of us were expecting a very high end DL rotation and weve gotten JAGs so far.

I agree. I said in a game thread that our DL is the most worrying part of the team. KLM and Guy showed the most there. Urban gets his arms up in passing lanes but I'd rather have our DE wreck the blocks and put hands on a QB. Davis is a no-show, Pierce and rookie have a long way to go. Hopefully it all looks better with BW back and Suggs/Dumervil coming into form fast.

I would give Judon the preseason MVP for defense. He has made big plays in all 3 games. The only detraction you can make is that he takes himself out of some plays by going too wide and he got beat in coverage today. Levine has added a different element to this defense, and he's definitely had a noticeable impact in coverage, but I just value the sacks and forced-fumbles from Judon more.

Can't really argue with Stanley as the offensive MVP. I'd add Alex Lewis, West, Dixon, and Butler as honorable mentions.

i couldnt make up my mind between judon and levine, but i just think levines impact is greater. the value of that safety/LB hybrid cant be understated, and even for a very undersized guy levine has been really good in the role, he looks like the type of guy you gameplan for and let him wreak havoc. i would absolutely love to see a 4-2-3 set, with edge rushers, and then mosley and orr at LB, and levine webb and weddle at safety, all 3 of those safeties can do just about anything you ask them to at a high level, they cover well in man and zone, tackle well, run support, blitz, they do it all. we will have some seriously chaotic dime and nickel packages this year if pees can call the game right.

Judon seems destined to make the 53 man roster.

Want Dixon to become the starter sooner then later.

Kenneth Dixon. He deserves every touch at running back after what he showed. I don't think I have ever been so excited for a running back on this team before. He is so explosive and he can make so much happen. Hopefully he is the #2 when he gets back from injury. He deserves every touch.

I was afraid Sizz was going to get hurt on that play after he was folded up after he made the tackle.  Someone fell on Sizz when he was sitting on the ground and basically made his helmet touch his knees.

Offense: Jeremy Butler, Ronnie Stanley, Terrence West/Kenneth Dixon, Ryan Mallet/Josh Johnson

Defense: Anthony Levine, Matt Judon,

Hard to imagine one of these guys not making the team. Not sure if they'll carry 3 QBs. If not, one of them will at least be on the practice squad or signed by another team.

Mallett is in 6th year and Johnson is closer to retirement than to PS.

Off MVP: Stanley

OHM: Butler, Dixon, West

Def MVP: Levine/Judon

No honorable mentions, because no ones come close to the impact of those 2.

Do they still use signatures on this forum? Made this for another forum since I'm buying stock in Judon early lol. I think he's going to be great.

I totally agree with you on many points.  First and foremost is Stanley and it's a shame that OL players, especially LT's don't get OROY.

I was totally pumped when we drafted Dixon.  I saw a good amount of tape on Dixon during the Forum Draft and knew we got a steal when we landed him in the 4th round.  I didn't see him as a 1st round talent, but definitely a 2nd round talent.

Love Judon as a pick and even Lewis has come on strong.  This has been one hell of a draft.    Thank you Wizard
