Who's compared to Barry Sanders today?

17 posts in this topic

I don't think anyone is like Barry Sanders. He's a once in a lifetime talent and his talent was squandered by Detroit.

If there ever was a close comparison, I say AD. Barry would start his runs against a stacked box and 5 yards behind the LOS. Not many backs can beat 8 in the box like Barry did. Peterson is who comes to mind in that respect.

In terms of speed and finesse at a close 2nd, I would say... Arian Foster

I agree that no one really compares and I don't really agree with AP. AP is such just a violent, downhill runner. Barry would just shake you out of your shoes and cut across the field for a long touchdown.

I don't think he compares anymore, but Chris Johnson in Tennessee was the closest to Sanders, to me.

I only believe the comparison of Barry to AD starts and stops at beating a full box.

CJ2K is a fair comparison.

Some of the runs CJ2K had in Tennessee where he would just completely reverse field and just score were absurd.

Fun fact about Barry Sanders: He leads the NFL in yards lost on running plays, yet he still averaged 5.0 yards per carry and never had 1100 yards in a season (he only had less than 1300 once).

If Barry had played 15 seasons like Emmitt Smith, Barry would have had 20,000 rushing yards

I don't think there is a good comp to Sanders right now. Not many people can spin around NFL players and make them look silly.

id say barry was lesean mccoy , jamal charles and CJ2K all in 1 person.

that speed , vision and ability to make people miss was just crazy.

Nobody. Not cj, not ap, one is straight line speed and the other is a freakish well rounded back, Barry had elusiveness that will NEVER be matched, nobody in the league is even close to his level of elusive. Dude made his legs and ankles look like rubber on a regular basis.

No one compares to Barry sanders. He faced stacked boxes weekly with an average Offensive line and subpar QB play.

Sure there are some guys with a little wiggle, agility these days but I've never viewed anyone that made me think of Barry Sanders.

L.McCoy has excellent agility with quick cutbacks but he's not even close.

Closest comparison would be USC Reggie Bush when he looked like a video game himself.

He's the best rb of all time. The Cj comparison I disagree with because Cj had that insane speed where it took just one cut and he's gone.   Barry would run 30 yards for a 7 yard gain.  I honestly can't say any rb in the league even remotely reminds me of Barry,  just how fluid he was.

Only reason I said CJ2K is because a play like this wasn't unheard of from him-

I'd have to say LeSean McCoy's ability to make defenders miss reminds me of Barry Sanders, but that's about it.

IMO we won't see another RB like Barry anymore b/c of how fast/quick the defenders are now.  LBs, CBs, and Safeties

are just as fast if not faster than most RBs these days.
