[News] Breshad Perriman Adding Improved Hands To Blazing Speed

33 posts in this topic

Hopefully, he put his "off time" to good use to work on things he could. Hoping he makes a huge impact when he hits the field!

If you saw the press conference, Trestman was legitimately excited about Perriman. You could hear it in his voice, he could barely contain a smile, and when he said he had the speed and the size and was a unique package, then said he was good, he smiled, was shaking his head and followed with "real good".

They better have a sure go-to guy in case anything happens.I'd like to see Daniel Brown thrown in the mix, at WR and not TE.

They have at least 3; Aiken, SSS and Wallace.  I hope you're not suggesting that D. Brown is one of those go-to guys?

None of those guys have what Perriman brings to the table and that is SPEED! You can't teach it. You either have it or you don't and he has it.

Well said! You can't find it, you can't teach it, or buy it! Perriman certainly has it. I want him to go deep 25 times every game. He never has to be Flaccos first option but if Flacco starts to run out of time just throw it up there where only Perriman can get it or no one can get it. Kinda like T.Smyths first few years in the NFL.

Ever since we drafted him I just want to see him do it to the Steelers. Doing the things he did at UCF for the Ravens. He is a better player than Torrey just wait and see. We have lightening now.

Let me just add to it. Perriman was scary in Madden 16 where he was rated the fastest reciever in the game LOL. He was so fast that he could easy pass the corners going deep. If that happens in a real game, teams better watch out because the combine with speed and Flacco arm it could be ugly for teams. Flacco and Perriman could be a great tandem and a dangerous one in this league they just need a little chemistry.

This is exactly what I have been patiently waiting for. Joe will definitely take those shots down field and with Perriman's speed he should be able to unload those bombs before anyone can adjust and re-position to stop them. Only downside is Time of Posession TOP, but if the running game gets going that will not be an issue.

So ESPN snubbing the Ravens and Flacco again.....I hope that the advertisers hoping to gain exposure in the Baltimore market through ESPN realize they have a better shot advertising on Nickelodeon with that kind of bias. I pretty much ignore them now, and the NFL network until the season starts, all they talk about now is how great the Steelers, Green Bay and Patriots are going to be....boring! GO RAVENS! 25

Brown will be lucky to make it to the Practice squad.

If Perriman gains in confidence, with SSS, Wallace and Breshad we can techincally have a really good team. I look at Perriman and see a faster Julio Jones. The difference being that Julio doesn't get hurt as often and has built great chemistry with the 2nd best QB in the 2008 draft.

I meant 2nd best QB!

He is a speedy master. However, why has Joe been under throwing his targets the last 2 seasons?

A 4 headed beast at RB. I won;t draft a Ravens back this season but they will get production. I say Dixon or West will be the lead horse if Forsett doesn't start hot.

Can he survive an NFL hit? Ravens' fans are holding their collective breath about this. You can't out-run everything and everyone all the time in the NFL.

IMHO: This season Perriman will be second fiddle to Wallace. Next season he will be second fiddle to Moore......just sayin'.

What a load of crap. Why should a first round draft pick have to show "improved hands"? Why is someone who needs "improved hands" a first round pick? Perhaps these "reporters" should be asking those questions instead of sugar coating his inability to catch the ball. He was that way in college. No big surprise. Yet, the Ravens spend a number one on him. Good grief.

He never got hurt while taking a hit, so I don't think a hit is something we have to worry about.  He got hurt (the first time) in a freak accident when he fell to the ground while making a catch.  This isn't something that will (or should) happen any time he falls to the ground.

If you really knew what they meant and didn't overreact, improved hands really means improved consistency.  His knock coming out wasn't that he had bad hands, it was that he would occasionally drop some easy passes, likely due to lapses in concentration.  He's actually a phenomenal hands catcher and made some tremendous catches in college.

I can't wait for Perriman to shut all of these haters up.  Campanero too, for that matter.

Look, speed kills and this gut is a merchant of death. No corner in the league can cover him. And Flacco has the guns to cash it in. Just his presence will change a defensive game plan and open up a lot of underneath routes for Aiken, Wallace and Smith.
Problem is that he is a china doll. Intrinsic weakness in the structure of his knees cannot be overcome in the long run. Hopefully we'll get lucky and he'll last a few games.
Now that he is healthy and can run they should put him on the shelf until week one. Chemistry is overrated. When Flacco sees him on the outside in single coverage with a single safety it's Katy bar the door. Force defenses to double team him deep and they are weakened across the board. If they try and single cover him then make them pay.
He shouldn't be allowed to do anything in the preseason that could cause an injury. Just not worth an injury which could erase the potential impact he will have in the regular season.

And for the record. Perriman was a fantastic draft pick except for the fact that he had congenital weaknesses in his knees that was well hidden from everyone, including Ozzie. His lack of injury in college along with his production caused everyone to assume he was healthy. It almost seems like fraud to me that he was discovered to have congenital weakness in the structure of his knees. I can't figure out how he made it through college with such an impressive career. The whole thing is really weird. Plus his NFL pedigree indicated he was as tough as nails, like his dad.
Hopefully we can get a few games out of him. His speed can really hamstring a defense. They have to double cover him or it's suicide. That opens up holes every where and should make Flacco very effective in picking on the defensive weaknesses.
I hope he lasts until the first Steeler game. He will fly past their corners like they are standing still. They think A.B. is the real deal but when they see this guy fly it will be like culture shock. Talk about playing off the ball!! They will need to play prevent every time he is on the field.
The Ravens have never had a receiver like this before. Hopefully he gets on the field and shows the difference he can make. Ozzie did right...he took Perriman cause he is a true game changer. Let's hope he stays healthy fo0r at least a little while.
