NFL to change Injury Report Status

1 post in this topic

Wasn't exactly sure where to put this since it didn't seem to fit under any of the Ravens categories.

The NFL is apparently doing away with the term "Probable" from the injury report. It used to mean that there was a 75% chance that a player that was listed as "probable" would play. Here's the story explaining the whole thing.

So now "questionable" will be changed to mean that it is uncertain as to whether the player will play or not and "doubtful" means that there is almost no chance this player will play. If you thought teams were playing games with the injury report before, now look what they can do. What is to stop a team from legitimately claiming that all of their players are "questionable" and day to day status? A lot of players will tell you there's no such thing as playing at 100% because you're always sore or banged up with something.

Seems like par for the course with the NFL recently. Each time they change the rules to try to improve or clarify something, they make it worse. The new kick off rule is having teams intentionally cross kicking the ball to make it come up short around 5 yards or so before the endzone. They re-clarified the catch rule earlier this off season and one official was quoted as saying that it really wouldn't affect the way the call has been made before on the field. Um...what?
