Josh Johnson is making a STRONG case to be the backup QB.

I'm okay with him over Mallett.  We need to find a way to keep Josh on the roster.  Jerrod can go.

To be fair, a ton of people said the same thing about Renner last year.

I swear on defensive second downs we should just let them get to 3rd and 5 or 3rd and 6. Something like 3rd and 15 feels like a gimmie for the other side.

But Stanley's continuing to be a pleasant surprise with how he's holding up in the run game already. I thought he'd need a little more time in that regard.

Levine had a great game tonight, even before the game winning 2 point interception.  He was holding tight coverage and played all over the field.  ILB, CB, slot CB, S, Dime.  He was all over the place.

Give shoutouts to Matt Elam. He played really well.

That he did.  He actually was showing solid fundamentals in tackling in the open field.  Hopefully he's turned the corner.

On another note, the pass rush was dreadful tonight outside of Judon.  I know we don't have Suggs or Dumervil out there though.  For a significant part of the 1st quarter, Lawrence Guy was acting as an edge rusher.

There were some flashes from the interior, though.

He wouldn't be the first person to turn it around in his third playing year. Even if he's just good enough to have a solid year and pick up a comp pick.

Another one who I thought had a good game that hasn't been credited in this thread yet was Zach Orr. I definitely think he'll be a starter either by CJ in 3-4 looks or as a WILL in 4-3 ones.

Good:

Judon, Stanley Dixon, Josh Johnson

Bad: every corner- no shock there as we don't have talent.

Every Interior D ..0 Pass rush. Very worrying..

Overall a deceiving scoreline. The first quarter showed that we lack playmakers on the D.

I'd be worried

The good: The rookies

Judon was a really pleasant surprise considering I thought he would be a project player. Was my player of the game.

Dixon looked better than any of our other RBs tonight. He has great movement and shows great toughness for his size.

Stanley looks about as good as you could ask for a rookie left tackle.

Moore looked good catching the ball and making some moves after the catch.

other standouts: Butler, Elam,  Canady, Josh Johnson, Will Davis

The bad:

Powers and Wright didn't look good in the first team defense. Starting d-line hasn't been that impressive, hopefully Suggs improves it. Jerrod Johnson looked like nothing more than a camp body. Maybe gets on PS. Third string o-line looked horrendous. Hopefully we won't be relying on anyone from that group.

I was sold on Orr after the last game

at some point during the season if we are in the mix for a playoff spot we might HAVe to make a trade for a CB thats due to be a FA next season and isnt interesting in signing on for his team..

1)Felt the Colts ones were more physical than the Ravens.

2)running game was underwhelming. Colts pushed our interior around.

3)very minimal pressure from our defense....another time consuming bend but don't break type opening by our defense.

4)Albert McClellan made a nice strip but there us no way I want this guy starting at either the ILB or SAM unless an injury occurs.

5)Lewis-Moore is just a guy and if we can pick up a Canty-esque vet at DE we ought to.

6) Powers disappointed

7)Brooks needs to wrap..soon.

8)good to get a look at Chris Moore...Dixon impressed.

9)let's take a knee on kickoffs in the end zone until we get a bona fide returner. Special teams have been poor generally.

10)HORRIBLE DECISION to play Johnson...guy had no business being out there before the fourth quarter of the fourth preseason game. Harbaugh did a real disservice to the other guys on offense that may have a chance to stick by expecting that guy to go the entire half.

JUDON

Stanley looks to me like the best LT since Ogden for us .

FYI:  For those of you who were watching the NFL Network and lost the game who don't live in the MD. area and couldn't pick it up locally, it will be replayed on the NFL Network on Tuesday at 4 to 7 AM, set ya DVR's!

If you take Josh Johnson's scramble runs out of the run equation, the running game wasn't much.

Stanley appeared to block pretty well in pass protection though.

So does Dixon have a legit shot at the #1 back spot? Wasnt that impressed forsett or west.

I think Dixon won't start the season as #1 but down the road , yes I think he's our no 1 .
