Lol, you're splitting hairs at this point

I never said I valued speed or size more, but I'm just letting you know you're wrong.

I love Dixon is short area situations despite him not making it here. I think he has the ability to make something out of nothing.

To your earlier point. You REALLY think speed and size are more important than hands?

Not really. But a guy with better hands doesn't automatically vault over a guy with better size and speed either. If you did that in scouting, it would be a MAJOR flaw.

In theory, hand technique can be taught, even at the Pro level. Size and speed can never be taught at this level. Its something you either bring with you or you will never have.

How was/is Stanley doing?

Silent all night, which is a very good thing.  DIdn't key in on him, but noticed a few times how good he is in pass protection.  Still needs some work in the run game.

Cmon West! Way too much hesitation lately, just Truck the dude between you and the endzone, thats what I like about Taliaferro, too bad he is not here to make a case for himself

Didn't really notice him for a 2nd straight week, which is a good thing. Believe he's out of the game now.

again quietly competent - we ran a couple of nice plays behind him but he also didnt quite get enough push in a 3rd a short at one point and we got stuffed

but that's all i really noticed other than fairly good general protection of mallett (not specifically just stanley)

Just to build off that, noticed one play in particular the line fell apart a bit and a guy tried a strong speed rush, Stanley beat him to the outside and locked down his man

Yeah I think his run blocking needs a bit more work. I don't expect the left side of our line to be the dominate side to run towards this season as it has been in the past, but that also has a lot more to do with KO being gone than who our LT is.

Yep.  Feet are fast and smooth and he's technically sound in pass protection.  That's something I noticed in his college tape.  If he does get out of position or has to recover or anything like that, he has the athleticism to get there.

saying that, i've been impressed with a couple of run plays behind him tonight - he's inconsistent in the run game but is flashing well which ill take 100% from a rookie lt at this point

Sprained jaw...  I think thats the first time i have heard of that.

it's not troubling or debilitating but really really painful and quite distracting - feels like your jaw's in the wrong place despite it not being dislocated or anything like that

Honestly, I really only care about improved pass protection in his rookie year. That's the major concern. He can be a mediocre run blocker his entire career for all I care. We've got run blockers on our O line as it is, and I don't expect that to end anytime in the near future.

I'll take a consistent pass blocker at LT and an inconsistent run blocker all day long over the alternative.

I know it is just the deep bench now, but I agree with Harbs when he said, "winning is always a good thing".
