Does playing better for two preseason games immediately warrant him getting the job over somebody who has proven to do better in real games?

I'm just saying, JJ is making the competition interesting. Plus I'm sure he sets his alarm clocks.

It's a preseason game thread. :tmnt:

And?

Discussion shifted to regular season, and specifically, the depth chart.

Doubt it. Not sure there's really a competition there to begin with. I've been fooled before, but again, I don't think he was brought in for that reason.

Frankly, that was probably the best JJ you have ever or will ever see.

It's expected to see people say these things. Just excitement for a player doing well.

if this was how competitions worked, schaub would have been beaten out by brenner or whatever his name was last year

Preseason discussion is all about who we're keeping....  who we're releasing.  Everyone needs to relax a bit.

I was just talking about Bryn Renner.

JJ I will say has impressed me with his demeanor on the field, seems calm and poised under pressure. He came back from a fumble last game and did well.  Mallett on the other hand seems to be a little erratic and a bit of a hot head at times, gets rattled easily.

Can we trade a high draft pick for a proven corner to pair with jimmy

Teams don't give up proven corners

My thoughts exactly...  Falcons, Eagles, Ravens, Seahawks...  Yup, they're all birds.

Is Flacco going to play any preseason games? Would like to be able to get some idea how the offense is coming along.

I liked his quick release and velocity

Not likely. My guess is you will not see Smith or Perriman in the preseason either.

I agree. Doesn't mean he'll be the 2nd guy in line - but I think he's done very well.

Probably limited.  He wants to be ready for regular season.  Why risk it?

Thanks. I thought it was very possible we would not see him in preseason but hoped perhaps one game.

Sure, but then again, Joe Flacco is typically highly erratic.

He exceeded just about anybodies expectations last season when he took over the job. For me, he earned a full season as our backup. Certainly don't think a couple of preseason games where Josh was better as nearly enough of a reason to make a change there.

One good game, one deplorable game that kinda shows us everything we've seen in his NFL career.

I mean...
