[News] Ravens Have No Timetable On Breshad Perriman's Return, But He's Running

52 posts in this topic

I wouldn't hold your breath on seeing Perriman on the field . don't see it. And if he did step on the field, why do you think he can take it week by week?? He's a bust. I'd love to be wrong. I didn't like Wallace, things he has done in the past, didn't want him. But it seems he has grown up and is a good team guy now. So I admit he was a good signing now He's our deep threat, our savior. Sure glad we got him now . . Perriman isn't going to contribute, don't see it. I'd love to come back at the end of the year and report I was wrong . . don't hold your breath.

Looking at the comments, if I was Perriman, I wouldn't be in any hurry to come play in front of fans like this. These are the ilk that booed Hyun Soo Kim with the Orioles because "they" didn't like that he didn't go to the minor leagues, yet he leads the team in average. Seems he knew more than most (which isn't too hard with fans like this). Same will be true here. These same haters will be on the bandwagon, just like they did Kim, when he goes out and shines and proves what he can do. I am satisfied to wait for that to happen. I just ask that they put him on the PUP through week 6 and open that spot for Jeremy Butler or Keenan Reynolds. I prefer Butler, but that is Ozzie and John's choice.

I'm pretty sure a lot of these players purposely ignore message boards and such, though the same cannot be said of their friends and family. I try to remember that sometimes when I post here, not to trash a player too severely.

I'm not on board with calling Perriman a bust or hating on him for being injured. I mean, it's not like he can help it, and it's even more frustrating for him. He has suffered 2 freak knee injuries after being injury-free in college. He could come back and be healthy for many years after this.

And I was totally against booing Kim (literally nothing to gain by doing it), but that's a topic for another forum.

He grew up with a Knee disorder. He was supposed to be grown out of that at a younger age from what I read about it. I hope he can play for our Ravens. Oh and BTW, different strokes for different folks G. Some fans are harder on the players than others. We are in America. Now personal attacks are unwarranted but I have seen very few of those types in here.

For me it's the "I don't know what's going on!!" or the misinformation that has frustrated me. Look at the support for Pitta...because we know what's going on with him. I care huge about our team and I like to know how our players are REALLY doing.

Well said!

We would do well by not having non-update, updates on Perriman. All it does is stir things up. I don't know why anyone in the organization would even have said a "mid-August" return, because that only means if he's not on the field come 8/16, there will be more angst around the situation.

I can't think of another player whose injuries seem to be more shrouded in mystery than they are for Perriman. That's not "hating" on him - I feel for him because I know he's got to be dying to prove himself to his teammates - it is just the reality of the situation. I've not seen anything like it.

I for one had the angst to see Permian on the field since they took him in the 1st round of the draft.

Yeah, the coaching staff is tired of answering questions about his return. He had this childhood disease Osweiller something........Osgood maybe and after his recent injury they talked surgery but opted for "Stem Cell" injections. Certain the staff are not holding their breath for his return and fans shouldn't either. In evaluating the 2016 Ravens, I did not consider contribution from Perriman. It would be nice, but it would be a bonus.

On the top of Ozzie's priority is not to make sure you know everything going on with the players. His top priority is to win.

i honestly wish these reporters would stop bringing up perriman. Its just a big let down. They need to let us move on and be happy with who we have out there. Expecting perriman to come back is stoping the fans from being positive about the season. Please no more perriman talk unless theres news of him practicing

Just bring him back gently, unlike last year, oz n co smartened up and realised when our greatest weapon is the deep throw, we might be best served to have several options - instead of banking on a kid who's never played a down in the league.

We really have wasted a couple of years of joes careers and I really don't think it's good enough from our FO.

When half the league is still scratching around for quality Qb's and we have a sb winning qb, who only put together the greatest sb run - you get that guy weapons and let him go to work.

Trying to trot out Marlon brown and Tandon doss in 13 and going with one deep threat last year - inexcusable.

Agreed. I'd honestly rather just forget that he's on the team so I won't be so pissed at the fact it feels like we wasted a 1st round pick, even if we didn't.

That's how im looking at it and how all fans should look at it.

What do you not know? He partially tore his ACL, received a stem-cell injection, is running, seemingly close to practicing but no set timetable on a return. That's not what's frustrating, it's that training camp doesn't last forever and he desperately needs the reps. He's basically a rookie.

Moore, and Waller have the deep threat ability we need, and i still believe in Perriman, and hopes he really gets back at full strength, and gets on the field, and does what we drafted him to do....As long as he is a Raven i will support him, and root for him...

Because Waller really strutted his stuff against Carolinas backups right?

Waller did really well. He had 5 catches. Not his fault they didn't send him deep.

As impressive as it is for a 6'6" guy to have 4.4 speed, i certainly wouldn't call him a deep threat.

Wallace is going to be such a deep threat this season. Perriman will be back, but when he gets on the field he will still be buried deep in the depth chart. I think that putting him on PUP for the first 6 weeks will be the safest route to go.

Probably the safest but i hope we don't have to wait that long and i don't think we will, but u never know with Perriman. He'll make a toe drag catch and partially tear his MCL. Knock on wood

Doesn't seem like the Ravens have much luck with drafting young WR talent. Pretty spot on with picking up veteran WR's though. Speaking of which did y'all see Anquan Boldin drag the entire steelers D for like 20 yards?!?! Dude is still a beast! Wish we could get him back.

Waller was never really a deep threrat. Not many people seem to know that he was converted to TE for a reason: he used to play TE originally, converted to WR later in college. So, he was "reverted" to TE really - just like Webb was "reverted" to S, his native position in college.

That's just plain unnerving IMHO that between Perriman and Campanaro we have not one but two guys in the WR corps who seem to possess really, really deep talent - and a similarly impressive knack for not being available to utilize aforementioned talent...

Why are we still wasting time on this guy?

Cuz hes a beast when hes healthy. Not his fault and hes busting his butt to get back on the field. Its not a waste of time. Just wait and see.

With all due respect, and no intention to mock Perriman, the NFL is famously a "What Have You Done To Me Lately" league. Nobody really cares about how much work a palyer puts in - because they're paid A LOT to do so - it's fully expected they work their asses off, working like a maniac is the bare minimum not a plus. And, while I'm not blaming him for a second - he's much more the victim here, not the villain by any measure - he has yet to do anything positive for the Ravens. An Ed Reed, a Todd Heap, a Bart Scott, a Kelly Gregg, a Derrick Mason, a Jarrett Johnson were released or not offered new contracts when their projected services no longer warranted a contract or a place on the roster... Just think about all the things those guys had done for the Baltimore Ravens... and then think about what Breshad Perriman has.
Once again: it's not that I'm blaming him for anything - he must feel beyond awful... But still, just like with any other player, I'm quite sure his window to show something that justifies a roster spot is rapidly closing. Campanaro's roster spot has been regularly questioned because he seems to be good for no more than 4-5 games per season before he get injured... which is exactly 4-5 games more than Perriman's portofilio.
Players who did not do anything wrong to be cut still get cut day by day in the NFL... That's how it goes when for every single spot in the NFL there are dozens or even more of applicants to choose from...

I view it the same way. A good Quarterback is like fresh strawberries, both leave little time to mess around.

To my eye, they have isolated him. Have taken his favorite receiver from him. Provided him with receivers from below the top shelf. Played musical chairs with his offensive line. It's an amazing story. Obviously they haven't meant to undermine him, but they haven't done much to support him.

On a positive note he seems to have developed rapport with Wallace.  A man sought out to help him. Flacco has made very positive comments about him. If that relationship clicks on the field they will have to be praised. Obviously the 1st round selection of Perriman was also an effort to get Flacco that help. I always thought Wallace's biggest strength was knowing when and where to go on the field when a play was breaking down.  If he can do that for Flacco, Joes arm will likely get him the ball.

Only difference is Camp never played a full season in college and probably had these issues all his life. Perriman missed a grand total of three games in college and I don't believe they were knee related.
