[News] Zachary Orr Taking Lead At Weak-Side Linebacker Competition

19 posts in this topic

Good for Orr. He has worked hard and earned a shot to start. KC will have a year or so to develop into a starting ILB or OLB and can be a disruptive sub this year.

Glad to see that guys like Brown, Elam and Brooks all looked "better" this last preseason game, but they are each so far relative busts if they can't crack a starting lineup by their 2nd/3rd year.

Brown's only chance of sticking will be because of Special Teams play. Sad considering we traded up to get him in the second round. Reynolds I see as a Practice Squad guy at this point. Elam playing on Special Teams the other night was alarming. A first round pick who may be relegated to Special Teams if he makes the cut.

Orr is a good story. On the other hand he likely will be yet another guy the Ravens develop only to head elsewhere for a bigger payday.

Disappointed. Looks like they are just handing the job to Orr &LBrs will be sverage again this year.
Heard all this hype about Correa and they dont even give the kid a fair shot at the job. I want to see Correa play besides Mosley for a half in preseason gm 2. I keep hearing bout this great motor, ferocious hitter...maybe hes the next Junior Seau...but not if they hand the job to Orr

that's true but if he does get the starting job, then gets a big payday next year, we have his replacement already on board...KC.

Orr won't cost us much, as he hasn't gotten enough PT, and if he wins the job one solid year, would i think allows us a retain him, of course if he has a insane year, then who knows....Having said that we do have some aging players who might retire, ans open up more cap space.....For me we have to have a solid Lber core, and we just can;t have the attitude everyone is replaceable, comes a point and time, when we have found a solid player, we have to invest in them...

I was afraid the coaching staff was just talking-up Orr to sell him to fans as more than just the de facto winner of the open ILB spot, but he actually did look pretty quick to his spot in the first preseason game. He looks like he hits hard and makes a secure tackle.

Brown ans Elam played special teams last year...whats the big deal? Renolds hasn't shown enough to make the 53. You cerainlly cant push a strong RB or WR to the waiver wire just cause Remolds is a rookie so yes he looks to have to be risked to the PS..

Don't cry. Everyone will get a chance. No one knows how good or bad we will be until the regular season starts. Relax and try to enjoy the ride. The Ravens will be fine.

Why would they just "hand the job" to Orr?  If what you're saying made any remote sense, wouldn't they "hand the job" to Correa since he's a 2nd round pick and making more than Orr.  If they were just going to "hand the job" to someone wouldn't they hand it to KC to get a return on their money?  No one is just handed a job on this team, they earned the right to be on the team and on the field.  Why don't people get that?

I guess the big deal is that your #1 pick usually doesn't play special teams......unless he can't play the position he was drafted for. Same with Brown. Big expectations for a #2 pick we traded up to get and will be relegated to special teams provided he makes the team. High draft picks for Special Team Players is usually not the right formula.

Job not being handed to Orr if Correa proves to be better i think he will start.

Brown is seemingly praised by coaches, but yet fails to see the field. So where is the problem? Is he simply being outplayed by the competition or are the coaches just trying to prop him up for a potential trade?
