Sleepers

21 posts in this topic

who do you have as your sleepers? im not talking about the easy choice up and comers like the raiders and jags, i mean teams that nobody is giving a chance that YOU THINK could do better than expected.

im going with the titans, i think they have a winning formula on offense, they have a line that is suited to their skill positions, a QB like marcus mariota, who can get outside the pocket very well and either break a run or buy time for a accurate moving throw will excel having 2 very good tackles, they have a decent interior OL, a TE who both blocks and catches at a very high level, and a 2 headed monster at RB who can both be workhorses, and they have enough gamebreaking talent such as dexter mccluster, and possibly DGB and sharpe. on defense they have a very solid front seven, they will be strong in the trenches on both sides and should be able to play a very physical, clock controlling type of game. their secondary will likely be too much to overcome to make the playoffs, and they will probably need better receivers, but i think they have a winning foundation in place and while nobody is giving them a real chance i could see an 8-8 season for them with a few upsets over high powered offensive teams with weak defenses, i wouldnt be surprised to see them sweep the colts by controlling the clock and pressuring luck.

who are your way under the radar sleepers?

The end of last year I would have said The Browns. ( no, really)

But then they signed RG-III and I realized that franchise is not changing any time soon.

not sure i see that, even before the rg3 signing, their team in general is really bad right now, they have nothing in place.

now, hiring hue jackson, and trading away their draft slot for a big fat haul, will really put them in a good place moving forward, but as far as 2016 goes they never had even the slightest chance imo, lol.

I have often said,  things would be somewhat different for this team in another division.   They are more than a few years away from a contender for the division,  but they were one blocked punt from sweeping us last season and correct me if I am wrong,  I think they lead the division for a week or two last season.

They always play us tough. I think with good leadership,  they are only a few draft picks and F.A. signings away from getting out of the NFL basement.

they dont have much of an o-line, no qb, they may be on to something with their skill positions because barnidge and gordon are studs and coco could grow into something good, no rbs, on defense they have no pass rush, no lb corps, nothing to really speak of on the DL, the secondary is nonexistent as joe haden regresses, i mean they are BAD lol. 5 years from now this draft trade could turn it all around for them, but 2016 was always a scrapped year for them

What about Tampa as a sleeper? I could easily see them being number two in that division, with Panthers as number one. I like that they drafted Hargreaves and Spence. Solid foursome with Winston, Doug Martin, V. Jax, and Mike Evans. They finished 6-10, but I could see them winning a few more, maybe finishing 9-7.

A lot of it rests on how well vh3 and Spence perform as rookies. They still have a very weak secondary and offensive line, but They certainly have firepower and mismatches across the board on offense and the arm to use it, and putting edge rushers around gerald mccoy could quickly turn into a fierce front 4.

Leaves bit of a bad taste in my mouth to say it, but I'm a huge Captain Kirk fan and I think the skins are going to make some noise this year.

I'm a Michigan state fan, so I like me some Kirk Cousins. My dad is also a die hard Skins fan so I'm a little biased. I think they'll make some noise offensively. Not completely sold on the defense just yet.

To me Skins should be a big favorite in the east.  Their defensive front is underrated. Their Oline should come together. The rest of their division all have a lot bigger weaknesses.

I'm not sure their defense can stop anyone unless Preston Smith and Kerrigan can carry their front seven and Norman can play without safety help and elite LB play in front of him. I'll need to see a lot more from Kirk and the D before I believe they can just win shootouts every week.

Not sure if the Giants are considered sleepers, but I havent seen talk about them being contenders. Also, the Jets.

Even before last year, I said the Raiders and Jags would have their yeas this season, seems that's the popular narrative.

I really liked what the Titans have going for them, but I think this year is too soon, especially looking at their WRs.  AJ is way over the hill, DGB who I thought could have been a great addition was just traded, my buddy who is a Titans guy, said reports were coming out that he was extremely lazy in practice and was showing no work ethic.  Them having the Rams #1 next  year could be huge.  I don't think they are there yet but I think they are in a wide open division with Jags out in front with Colts right behind.

Im going to go with the Buccs.  Winston looks like he might not be that bad and he has weapons around him.  Like Joey said, VH3 and Spence will need to contribute but they have a good foundation.  Martin and Sims should be able to handle the job well enough, Martin looked great last year.

Also, im going to go out on a limb here and say that the Colts are going to be terrible.  If you look at the numbers, Luck and Tannehil are pretty close, with context of course.  Luck has a worse completion percentage in two years I believe, but obviously he is asked to do a lot more.  I just don't think have don't a good job of putting talent around him.  I think they finish at or below .500 even with Luck healthy, even in that division.

Chargers- I just have an odd feeling they make a wildcard spot somehow, I will say though, it depends on the Bosa situation.  just a hunch

I like the Bucs pick. And if things break right for them they could maybe go as far as a division win. I like Winston best of all the guys coming out over the last few year.

Colts inthink could see a marked improvement in Oline play which is what they desperately need
