[News] News And Notes 8/13: Ravens Fight Through Hottest Practice Of Year

18 posts in this topic

I hope these guys can hurry up and come back from these injuries. At least their having them in camp and not in the regular season. But I tell you one thing, Campanaro's chances of making the team decrease each day he doesn't come to practice and Butler does. Thursday he showed that he can be relied upon to make tough catches and move the chains. I think Campanaro has a bigger upside and more natural talent. But Butler has strong hands, stays healthy, and fights for yards. I hope Young is all good because I think he will work his way to being a starter at some point in the season because he's looked very sharp. Perriman NEEDS to come back by the 3rd preseason game or he can kiss his chances of being a starter goodbye. In my eyes he's the #4 receiver. He has done absolutely nothing since we drafted him, he has no chemistry whatsoever with Joe, he hasn't been running, and has yet to go up against other teams players.

Practice in 110? Why! your not going to improve or learn anything. Even in the Army their not that stupid.

Idk, been a long time but Marines never gave us a day off while in basic or any other time. But you did say army ;)

You train in worse conditions to be prepared.  Never once heard any military strategic person say, "well, its too hot today, lets go to war when it cools down."

It's 119 degrees (150+ heat index) over in the sandbox in Iraq. It's not like our soldiers are taking the week off indoors in the ac posting nonsense on the message board. If they can endure it in full battle rattle in up-armored Humvees, then I think highly payed athletes can withstand it for a couple of hours in full pads....

Why they couldn't practice inside the facility? I've been there before and l know they have a field there that they can practice inside.

Reynolds has good hands and a knack for finding the end zone. He often displays a burst of speed after catching the ball as is evident in this practice clip. Still, he will have a hard time making the team if he doesn't master the art of catching punts under pressure. It might be possible to stash him on the PS if he becomes a late cut in preseason. Meanwhile, the eyes of the Navy are on him and that might be the one saving grace that gets him on the roster.

No such thing as too hot to practice. As long as they get plenty of water breaks they will be fine. we're training a team for the NFL not the arena league. These guys will be tough as nails.

I like Tavon over Powers so far, unless proven otherwise. Home grown Ravens, is where we need to be going forward, unless there is a glaring hole of weakness

Because it could be just as hot or hotter when they play Jax week 3.

I served in the Army for 6 years man and weather conditions as horrible as they may have been never stopped us from doing our jobs.
