But he did look good as a starter - remember he didn't take over from Chris Johnson and Andre Ellington until later in the season

and being a workhorse in modern nfl is about staying on the field which means being effective out of the backfield and in pass protection so that you don't have to come off the field which he very much did for the cards

Yea CJ got hurt in week 11 then DJ's carries went 22,19, 29,9, 11.  Also, Ellington and CJ were hurt, now they are both healthy, although not sure Ellington can hold up.  All I am saying is, before I call someone a workhorse, I would like to see it more than 5 games.  Doug Martin looked like he was going to be a workhorse after his rookie year, then struggled for 2 years then went crazy last year.  Just want to see it more is all....if he turns out to be what it looks like he is, Cards struck gold.

I want Flacco to get some game time experience prior to the regular season. But, then again I would rather he be fully healthy prior to stepping on the field. Same goes with Sizzle and SSS. We need them to get game reps, but their health needs to be monitored and they need to be fully game ready. What do you guys think? Play at least 1 quarter for all 3 or sit them out entirely?

I'd like to see Flacco and Suggs play a couple of series' at least. SSS I think could sit this one out. I want to see the other receivers play as much as possible especially Campanaro.

Maybe next week, Flacco and Suggs don't sound like they really want to play, especially Joe.

This is why I could see the Bills game being tougher than some think, even with them losing everyone to injuries, including the hotdog vender.  We might have some chemistry issues out of the gate

That stinks. I'd like to see Joe and Wallace connect on a deep one. Everyone knows it in our playbook anyway. Suggs I can understand sitting out tho just coming back to practice.

I'd like to see Flacco go a series or two in the 3rd preseason game against defensive starters who aren't going crazy and reckless to try and make the team. That's an environment that I'd be worried - some hyped up UDFA going at his knee to make a play or O/D line guy getting rolled into him bc they don't know what they're doing.

But I think amongst all starters it'll be fine. Maybe not the entire half like we'd normally see but a couple series. Flacco needs the chemistry and timing in a game situation before week 1.

Suggs, Doom and SSS I'm less concerned. For one, we've got good players outside of them at their positions that can get us rolling early on in game 1 so that if it takes them a quarter or two to really get going we can still compete.

Plus they know what they're doing. They don't necessarily need a connection with other players to impact the game.

Flacco does need that. So he's really the only one I care about getting out there for a little bit. Take that first hit before game 1 so it's out of his system and its not weighing in the back of his mind in a game situation that actually counts.

After the initial reports of the Bills defense it sounds like I may be signed before the season begins. I'm sure there will be some rust but their pass rush is looking terrible so far. Would be scary going into that game if Flacco was rusty with a rookie left tackle.
