considering flaccos erratic nature, he shouldnt sit out all of preseason. he needs to have some of the rust knocked off in game action come game 3, he cant go into that game with nothing but TC under his belt, it will make it way too much of a trial run when it should be a real game simulation and preparation.

Game 2 shouldn't feature any of those who were seriously in the med bay (Flacco, Suggs, Smith, etc.)

I'd like to see more of the precautionary guys return though (B-Will, TJ, Forsett, etc.) Especially with how well the young backs have done, I'd love to see Forsett come out and remind everyone why he's the #1 back.

Likelihood of seeing Perriman during the PS?

You don't play stars during preseason cause if they get a major injury y'all will say there goes our season.

I'd love to see flacco play one series, get a few passes and handoffs against somebody that isn't in a ravens uniform

At the same time, a lot of our major players haven't played a meaningful snap in months/a year. Would rather they come out and shake the rust in a meaningless game then week 1 when it counts

I don't think Flacco plays until the 3rd game. At Home. Too risky on the Road. Plus, more starters will, in theory, be playing in the 3rd game. No need to rush it.

I think Flacco plays and he should play. Harbs said last night that with Flacco not playing it wasn't a point in playing the other starting position players. Well i'd have to think the same would be true for this game. However you want these guys to start to build some in game chemistry before the season and even before the dress rehearsal of the 3rd preseason game. Wallace, Moore, Watson and Perriman(probably won't play) need to get that in game chemistry with Flacco. It's one thing to run routes vs air or teammates, but they need to start developing in game trust.

I think one of the biggest reasons you hold Flacco out of game one is because of the unknown of Stanley. First NFL, under the lights at home, it'd be so easy for the moment to be too big for the kid and he gets Flacco blindsided. However I think he showed so much poise and polish for a rookie that i'd already have confidence in his ability to hold up well enough. Does that mean he'll never give up a sack? No, Flacco will get hit eventually. But you definitely want that comfort level to start being built.

I don't think he's a huge deal if he plays or not, but I think having as much of the 1s play would be good to start to build that chemistry.

And if they don't play in the preseason, and they come out flat and don't perform in the first few weeks, yall will bash the coaching staff for not prepping the players enough.

I'd like to see Joe play at least one drive, if not a full quarter. We've seen time and again that getting chemistry with his receivers takes a few weeks, and the preseason is exactly the time to get that rust shaken off. I doubt we go full throttle and run the full range of bootlegs, QB rushes and sneaks every other play anyway. It's not asking for the moon to want him to go 4/6 for 35 to 50 yards and a few hand-offs - and the alternative is having a string of frustrating drops, miscues and other general mistakes against the Bills. Be nice to see Sr play for the same reason, depending on how his foot is holding up, but I won't stress if someone like Suggs wears a tracksuit for this one.

The RB battle is probably the thing I'm most interested in seeing this week, especially if we throw Forsett into the mix like I hope we do. For mine, other points to watch are whether Stanley builds off his encouraging start, who we want next to him at LG, whether the run defence can hold up stronger than it did against Carolina, and the battles for the last one or two CB spots on the roster.

Will Flacco play?

I hope so. I don't think one exhibition game will be enough. Are they saying he possibly might not play?

The timetable for recovery puts him back this week, so if we see him, it'll be week three or four

And to be re-injured by week one of the regular season for a week eight recovery.

Flacco looks healthy again.  The problem now is getting him back on the field under playing conditions.  Remember, because of his injury he's missed more time than usual including otas.  So now there's more rust than usual.  I know we've seen a lot of people go down due to injuries, but football players gotta be prepared not only physically but also mentally to play the new season.  So put him out on the field.

Play flacco 2 drives in the third game - let him rip the ball downfield to Wallace a few times then get him outta there and call it a day. Simple as that. And if anybody gets pressure on him just fling the ball out of bounds- intentional grounding or not who cares. Would be nice to have him practice hanging in the pocket to get a little more comfortable during live action but just ain't worth it. Although I do feel a lot more at ease this year if God forbid something did happen to joe with mallet under center as opposed to Matt pick 6 schaub. Call me crazy but I almost think we would have just as good of a shot at the playoffs with him as long as our running game is on point and our defense is getting the job done.

Looking to see if the first team defense looks more organized and on top of it vs Indy. We looked a bit out of sorts and confused at times, that first drive vs Cams Panthers. I am Hoping CJ can Qb this defense into a cohesive unit. The no huddle was effective against us.

We definately have some better pieces this year, need to get everybody firing together.

On Offense, the run-run-pass failed against the ones of the Panthers, and got us off the field quick.

Looking for improvement in game 2

Looking forward to this one. Mainly want to see our young DL guys step up, those being Carl Davis, KLM and Urban. Indy does not have the best OL depth so I hope it is a confidence building game

I really want Brandon Williams extended before the season starts and I am not hugely convinced we have guys who can clearly step in. I am ok with L. Guy at one end, I think he is extremely underrated. Jernigan I like but we all know he has some consistency issues. Carl Davis I loved coming out but he has not shown huge explosion and may be just a run stuffer, which is good and needed. KLM I personally was disappointed last game, did not feel he held his gap well, little push in pass game and looked exhausted at times. Urban has an injury history so I just want to see him get through preseason completely healthy.

I agree with your whole post but getting Brandon Williams extended would be very nice.

Totally agree let him get his feet wet but no need to go overboard.

Preseason game #2 is usually the ugly game. Training Camp basically ends on Wednesday as i'm sure Thursday will be a walk through and Friday will be a travel day before the game. Typically once camp ends it's like a letdown for the players and traveling doesn't make it better. I want to see the guys come out and play with passion, intensity and smarts. I like the fact that the foolish penalties didn't show up in game 1, I expect that to continue.

I definitely want to see how these young guys travel. Can they keep the high level of play going knowing that Camp is over? Also knowing that the 3rd game will basically feature only the 1st and 2nd team units, how do these young bubble guys handle what might be their final opportunity to truly impress?

Exactly what I'm waiting to see. Let's hope they stay hungry and play with passion. Would be really nice if perriman could get on the feild in the third game for a series or two.

I really think that's the plan for him and the other PUP guys as well. Or at least I hope it is. Flacco has publicly voiced his desire to build chemistry with Perriman and the original timetable given by people who are familiar with that type injury said it'd be mid august before he returns. With camp ending this week the Ravens will basically be doing walk throughs and installs from that point moving forward so it'd be a lot less stressful for those guys. I think the Ravens really want to get Perriman and Flacco some time together before they enter the season when games count. So if Perriman can get back to practice in some form by the end of the week or next week, i think he and Flacco will get time together in the 3rd game.

That's what I'm thinking too.. But I'm not holding my breath. Fingers crossed though. Suggs and doom will be back before week 1. SSS and perriman I'm not so sure. Talioferro doesn't really matter anyway bc he's a goner.

I think Taliafero remains on PUP just in case there is a mid season injury to our RB group, mainly West who seems to be the only back we have to provide that downhill physical type running.
