Should coin toss be eliminated?

I got a better idea the fastest man who gets the ball gets the ball first the loser gets to choose what side the field they want like this idea from XFL

Undoubtedly more exciting than the coin toss. Most of the time they skip that on the broadcast.

The concept of competing for the right to decide kick/receive is more interesting than a random coin toss but in this case the injury chances might scare the league away - imagine a player blows out their knee. Plus, how do you officiate what's legal? The XFL was going for cheap thrills, might as well have oiled up a pig and set it loose.

Maybe a game of "HORSE" with the kickers, doing trick shots? Whichever team owner's shirt has the higher thread count? Whichever QB can throw furthest with their non-dominant hand? Hotdog eating contest with the NTs?

The NFL is not hurting for viewers but, really, the coin toss is a weaker 'entertainment' point. Dignified and a classic tradition? Yes. Need-to-be-in-your-seat action? No.

Fans want to see excitement. Look how the game of Hockey starts.. It starts with a face off. So does Lacrosse. Basketball begins with a tip off so why cant Football start off with the Scrabble

Because a coin toss gives neither team an advantage.

A Scrabble would probably be even less exciting than a coin toss. And I don't think many NFL players would know enough words.

Some of those XFL ideas are being used today in the NFL, like the cam that hovers over the players at the LOS. That was born in the XFL.

Coin toss is like gambling you have a 50/50 shot getting ball first. I say why not earn it? The fastest and most physical man wins the ball first for his team.

Or you can do it like Baseball does it,,Visitors get ball first.  Home team gets ball second half. Or Do it like College Basketball does the possession rule. Whoever has the ball last when the first half ended gets ball first second half.

Its Boring and its a 50/50 chance you win. So why not earn the possession first?

I can't imagine that any coach or gm cares enough about whether they start the game with the ball or get the ball to open the second half so much as to risk injury to one of their players - and to do so each and every week.  Something different to earn the first overtime possession might be interesting, as long as it is not a serious injury risk.  I'm not even sure about that since each team gets a possession if the first team with the ball fails to score a touchdown.

Maybe bring up 4 players to circle and draw straws. 2 from each team. they are 10 straws. The one get the longest straw gets to choose kick or recieve. The loser side chooses which field to defend.
