Anyone watching?  Anything you're excited about?  Swimming has been pretty good so far.  I caught some of the archery yesterday and was kind of surprised how much I enjoyed it.

Olympics.  The event that makes you watch sports you would otherwise never watch.

Watching women's rugby at the moment.

Pretty cool.

The sevens is a great time, just wait until the men's event. The US have a decent shot at gold too.

Sadly I can't really watch the Games this year. Aside from a few things, you can only watch it through a pay TV provider here this year and I'm not paying $90 a month for all that.

Looking forward to water polo tournament, sevens and who will take silver in men's basketball.

Obviously track and field but that's still few days off.

I rather liked the women's rugby - not a bad sport at all.

She won the 800 at 15... and it wasn't even close.

Currently holds the world record for the 400, 800 (beaten her own record multiple times), and 1200. Insane.

Watching USA Basketball now vs Venezuela. Its a good one

Basketball is such a joke in the Olympics. America is the only country with a professional team playing at the level that they are, men or women's. The women's team hasn't lost a game since 1992.

I don't think pros should be able to play in the Olympics.

I like the pros in the Olympics. The World has to get better than U.S of A!!! Just like when Maryland moved to the BIG 10 conference they gotta get better because thats the toughest conference of all college sports.

They are all pros - Australia, Spain, France, Serbia, Croatia all have teams made of pretty good pro players, lot of them earning their living in the NBA. Granted, nobody comes close to US quality but the other guys aren't amateurs either.

But the Russians don't have any pros. Only in Hockey

The Australian team has a pretty good future ahead - Mills, Bogut, Simmons, Exum off the top of my head. Andrej Lemanis is a good coach and they've got a good professional league that (mostly) uses the same rules as FIBA. They could be the next big hiccup for the US in the way Spain were a few years ago. There are a lot of good European leagues too, but everything's so fractured (similar populations, but there are 50-odd national teams where all the best US players play for the same team).

It's just a shame the government stopped funding BBNZ a few years ago.

I know they're all pros in other sports, but with basketball, the disparity is so much greater.

I mean, hell, you could use all college players and still probably win.

Honestly I have zero interest in the Olympic basketball. The rugby was exciting. I'd never watched it before. I hope they televise a lot of taekwondo.

No way - USA doesn't have the greatest track record at World Champs, where they also send NBA players but the teams are slightly weaker than what they prepare for the Olympic Games. With college players, they wouldn't contend for medals.

Dellavedova - he had 20+ points and 13 assists vs Serbia.
