Ravens Projected Win-Loss Record 2016

341 posts in this topic

The Ravens will be defined by the ability of their defensive backs to attack the football.   The defensive coordinator's propensity to play soft coverage defense will continue to result in free gifts to opponent receivers.  The Ravens are rebuilding most of their defense and parts of their offensive line.   Therefore expect costly breakdowns on both sides of the line of scrimmage.

The Ravens have a relatively light-weight first half of season, but the second half may prove too overwhelming for the young players.  The Ravens projected win-loss record in 2016 season is a not too shabby 9-7:

WIN BUF
WIN CLE
WIN JAX
LOSS OAK
WIN WAS
LOSS NYG
WIN NYJ
LOSS PIT
WIN CLE
WIN DAL
LOSS CIN
WIN MIA
LOSS NE
WIN PHI
LOSS PIT
LOSS CIN

In 2016, the Ravens' offense will average over 20 points a game, while their defense will average over 18 points a game.  Are playoffs in the picture? If Ravens can finish in first or second place in their division, then definitely yes.  However, if they are in third place then "Next Year".

Go Ravens!

VS BUF: W- i think we will come out pretty hot, were at home, rex is gonna have his guys all rah-rah coming in, but tyrod taylor has never been the opponent at the bank, hes in for a big surprise, i dont think anyone is gonna run the ball on us well this year and they will be 1-dimensional.

@CLE: W- RG3 wont be beating the ravens, this will be an absolute blowout, dumb throws against our quality safety tandem and an inability to escape kamalei correa who i think is gonna have a field day chasing down rg3 everytime he tries to scramble.

@JAX: L- buying the hype. reports indicate that dante fowler looks like an absolute world beater, and im inclined to believe it. gus bradleys defense is beginning to look damn scary, and their offense is nothing short of prolific, i think we lose this game pretty badly, we will turn the ball over at least twice, give up 4 or more sacks, and give up over 300 through the air.

VS OAK: W- i think this will be a close one, im hoping that jimmy smith is in midseason form by this point because it would give us a huge advantage, i think his game vs amari was a fluke last year and if hes healthy and playing well than he will be erased from the statsheet, their front seven looks solid, but not spectacular, if khalil mack is contained then we should be able to move the ball with ease both through the ground and the air. not quite a shootout but i think it will be a relatively close game with our run game and secondary being the winning factors, but oaklands pass rush giving us troubles for 4 quarters.

VS WAS: W- the week the skins fans turn on norman. assuming our offense is healthy, i think we move the ball on them with ease, i think norman is extremely overrated and will be average without an elite front seven and safety play, with a healthy roster we should see our offense hitting its stride right about now, we will abuse them over the top with the deep ball to wallace and BP, their front seven will give the worst performance of the year as they give up 200ish rushing yards. our defense will struggle mightily here against their wr corps but they wont be able to outscore us as we control the clock.

@NYG: L- our secondary is gonna fail to cover their top 3 targets, the giants will play 1 dimensional and small ball us to death and our seconddary will look atrocious.

@NYJ: L- fitzpatrick has played solid against us in the past, and i think jimmy will once again have brandon marshall throwing tantrums on the field, but eric decker, moe wilks, sheldon richardson, revis, and some others as well will have a field day. we wont look bad, but big plays from the jets defense will kill us.

VS PIT: W- i think we have the steelers number, until antonio brown and leveon bell show they can perform against us, i will pencil us in for a W against them, also bud dupree and jarvis jones will be total nonfactors all year long and this game will be no exception, we will generate a ton of pass rush, and their brand new secondary will look like wasted draft picks.

VS CLE: W- home vs cleveland.

@DAL: W- i dont see a good team here. dez is a monster, i think zeke will be the closest thing weve seen to curtis martin, they have a good line, the pieces are in place, but i think romo is just about finished, and i dont care how good any teams line is, i dont see ANYONE running the ball well against us. they depend on dez and witten way too heavily and our safeties will capitalize with turnovers. also our offense will move the ball with ease.

VS CIN: L- unless AJ green is injured. we cant stop him, we havent stopped him in years, i see no reason to think we will this time either... man i cant wait until dalton and greens cap hits start to rise so the rest of their team can begin to fall apart, they have rode the coattails of those 2 playing with rookie deals for so long.

VS MIA: W- on defense they have suh and thats about it, but i think our interior pass protection is solid enough to keep him in check and we can easily turn the run game away from him. we will move the ball. and i think jarvis landry is gonna have a field day but it wont be enough, devante parker is gonna be shut down, we are gonna get pressure on tannehil, and they will have abandoned the run by halftime.

@NE: L- i dont think this team can hang with brady, we are too young and inexperienced and dont currently have enough gamebreaking ability to make up for it, i think we get washed in this one.

VS PHI: W- i think this will be a slugfest, 2 of the better front sevens in the league with both teams having solid O-lines, i think a lot of this game rides on how nelson agholor is performing in year 2, if he gets himself up to speed and is playing well then we could see the eagles passing a lot, if jordan matthews is all they have going for them then i think its a more balanced game, both teams are gonna have around 60-40 pass/run, and neither team will be able to move the ball effectively. whatever front seven wears down first will lose, and i think phillys front seven will be the one to wear down.

@PIT: W- i think we will sweep them again, i think this game is gonna be another ravens steelers classic, it will come down to the last whistle and flacco will put together a signature game winning drive, with mike wallace of all people catching the game winner.

@CIN: L- once again i just dont think we can beat them. maybe our luck changes next year.

that makes it 10-6. it wont be good enough to win the division, and with teams like pit, kc, den, sd, hou, ind, jax, and oak, i dont know if we are gonna be pulling through for a wild card. the 5 and 6 seeds will be extremely crowded this year, if tiebreakers allow it, then we may get in, and if we do i think we are good enough to make a run possibly as far as the AFCCG, we will need to be healthy and we will need to get hot at the right time, but ultimately i think we fall just short of a wild card.

That's a bold move cotton. Let's see if it pays off

So I'll take a stab at it

Buffalo-W. Their offense isn't that good, Tyrod isn't that good of a QB. They have a pretty meh oline. McCoy won't be able to run around. Sammy Watkins is an issue, but with a new improved defense I think we pull out a win. Even if Flacco is pressured to hell.

Cleveland-W. They're the Browns

Jacksonville-W. We're in for a slugfest here. Even on the road, we match up decently. They may have a great defense, but potentially so do we. Their WR group is deemed a problem, but we have a ton of speed that'll be hard to combat. But at the end of the day, I think we come out with W.

Oakland-L. Trap Game. Derek Carr is a great QB and now he's got a good oline, along with a very good WR and RB corps, and an unstoppable monster on defense named Mack. This is the first week we truly start overreacting and going "DAMN YOU RONNIE STANLEY" for getting beat by a monster that most cannot contain.

Redskins-W. We're at home, after a loss.. They're going to die.

Wrong

NYG-W. We cannot contain ODB. They've got a good dline with Harrison, JPP, and Hawkins. They've got good corners. But they do have a weakness. We got the TEs and they can't cover them. The TEs will kill them. Their oline is not as good, and neither is their running game. We pull out an upset here.

This was Changed to an L. Got it right

NYJ-L. Our interior gets destroyed here. Williams, Wilkerson, Richarson are licking their chops and they've got Revis to take out SSR. Flacco gets beaten up.

This was changed to a W. Got it wrong.

PIT-W.

We're coming off a loss, are at home, and it's against our arch rival. We blow them out in hilarious fashion. Especially since that defense is horrendous.

CLE-W. They're the Browns. They'll be the laughing stock of the NFL until proven otherwise.

Dallas-L

Trap game. Romo is a great QB with a good WR Corp and an oline that can make the best dline look bad. Defense will improve as by then they'll have some of their suspended players back.

Cinci-L

Tyler Eifert and AJ Green are both impossible to cover. They have an elite defense. Even at home, they're too much to handle.

Wrong

Miami-W

Coming off of two bad losses. We're going to be pissed off, and will be going against a bad defense.

NE- L

Slugfest. We almost always bring it to the Patriots. Gronk is the most unstoppable player in the league, but their are ways to get to Brady. Our defense has new talent and speed now. We have ways of providing interior pressure now and a much better secondary. But still they've got a good front 7 and Tom Brady with that unstoppable weapon. We meet again in the playoffs.

Philly-W.

Assuming they pick Carson Wentz to start Pees is going to dial up the bltizes. The front 7 has a ton of talent, but outside the safeties the secondary doesn't really scare me.

PIT-W

Not a par for the course game vs the Steelers. Shootout. Horrid defense on both accounts. But our defense doesn't have the holes there's do.

CIN-L

Starters rest as we clinch a playoff spot.

10-6. Good enough for the wildcard.

But the season could go either way.

Agreed - optimistic, we have so many balls in the air, so many pieces coming back from injury, free agents, rookies - could be a bumpy ride. Start of the season looks soft but we could easily go 1 - 3 - drop games away and against the raiders - they're going to be licking their lips to get after our line.

Very nice analysis flex; though I disagree here and there (sweeping the Steelers, 2 years in a row, I don't think so). They have lots of potential but until proven capable, that's all it is. DBs are improved but still questionable, pass rush (Suggs/Doom) looks good on paper only , LBs, even Mosley, are suspect. Offensively Flacco and the Ravens have never been prolific and always take the FG instead of the TD -- we lose close games bc we can't punch it in. Lots of potential but still a team in need of pieces -- the Ravens, to me, look like a 9-7 team.

Historically, we give them fits, especially in NE. I'm confident with this one. I think our team looks better on paper also and I see no other-worldly additions they've made to make me scared. Obviously you can't stop Gronk unless he gets a minor bruise on his knee (you know what to do, CJ).

We've also been blown out by them before. We play Pittsburgh close usually but they've blown us out as well. Sometimes it just doesn't follow the typical standards and our team is so different I think this is one of those cases.

We finished 3-3 in the division last year with a depleted football team.

You have us finishing 2-4 this year with a healthy team?

It all depends on Flacco. He's going to carry this squad. If he's not close to 100% himself it will be a train wreck. As it stands I think we squeak into a WC on tiebreakers.

Bills -W ( I am attending this one.  RAVENS are 33-4 on games I attend )
@ Browns - W ( this one is going to be unfortunately close. We win but less than 7 points )
Jaguars - W ( after the week prior, got our ego's in check and played some real football )
Raiders - L ( whoops got too cocky )
Redskins - W ( I will be at this one too.  RAVENS can not let the battle of the beltway regular season over all be tied )
Giants - L  ( *shrugs*  I dunno. )
Jets - W  ( it's the Jets )
Steelers ( home ) - W ( we seem to have their number. We beat them with nearly all backups and backups to the backups )
Browns ( home ) - W ( another game that is far closer than it should be, but this one is a two possession win at least )
Cowboys - W ( that team is a mess )
Bengals -( home)  L ( Oh my gawd I HATE A.J. Green )
Dolphins - W ( It is December and cold in Baltimore.  The team loves the warm sun of Miami and plays well.  The Dolphins are spoiled and don't know how good they have it, so they play poorly )
Patriots - L ( Rule manipulation.  Shady tactics.  Loss by three or less.  Pats now are the most hated team by RAVENS fans )
Eagles - W ( *shrugs* I dunno.  Sounds good )
@ Steelers - W ( nope.  Sweep again.  RAVENS continue to be the most hated team by steeler fans )
@  Bengals-  L ( Can't shake this team just yet.  Its a bitter pill that will carry us into postseason and into next season )

11-5

I'm going with 7-9 too until the guys that need to show something show something.

you know what?......7-9 a good mediocre team.  You've got to have some talent to finish 7-9.  Not gonna predict either, cept the 1st game. Gonna go with the Bills in Baltimore.
