Ravens Fan From Australia Please Help?

17 posts in this topic

Hey guys, Im from Australia, and this is my first season following the NFL, lucky enough Ive chosen the Baltimore Ravens as my team, its pretty obvious why I would choose to follow them, so much character, talent and passion on the field but most of all they are display such good sportsmanship off the field. I have no idea why, but ever since seeing the Steelers, they have always made me sick to my stomach, I again have no idea why, is it the black and gold? Is it the fact that they have already won a superbowl in 2006 and I can tell how their players and fans are lacking so much passion to win this one, when I watched them play the chargers it was almost like the fans simply expect to cruise through and win another superbowl, `yeah another one for us`
The ravens and thier supporters on the other hand would give thier right arm to win the superbowl this yr, its soooo evident.

My question is, I was really confident of making the superbowl this yr after our win against the titans, and from what I read on this forum the Ravens fans would had rather played the steelers rather than the chargers, because we dont have to travel as far, and we were robbed of our last 2 games, surely they cant steal another win from us. However, from what Ive read since the steelers beat the chargers(mostly from nfl.com)is that we clearly dont have much of a chance against these guys on sunday. This has made me really uneasy, and really unconfident, what do you guys think. try to be unbias as possible and tell me, are we in with a real chance or are the circumstances against us too much?

COULD YOU GUYS TRY AND PREDICT THE FINAL SCORE TO GIVE ME AN IDEA HOW WE STAND?

Cheers guys, God bless you ravens fans!

I'll answer in case you're actually from Australia...

The Steelers have beaten us twice this year, but both game were closely contested, and the total point difference in two games ended up being a mere seven points.

We have a ton of injuries, but the guys seems to have used that as motivation and are playing through the pain. On the other hand, Pittsburgh seems to be really fresh and used the bye effectively. They crushed San Diego, but you have to remember that the Chargers were just an 8-8 team during the regular season, had to travel cross country and adjust to the time change, were coming off of a long, drawn out overtime game, and were forced to battle the foreign elements.

Even if the Steelers "blow out" the Ravens, the game probably still won't be won by more than 10-13 points. I'll say the over/under should be around 30, but even that may be pushing it. I hate predicting games, but I'd say a 17 - 13 Pittsburgh win.

I hate Steelers fans more than I hate the Steelers players. They are the most arrogant and yet, unattractive, people I have ever met.

As this thread is for international fans, I'll join B)

I am from France but live in Germany (Bonn, former capital). This is also my first NFL season I actively follow (watching the game vids / live scores on nfl.com).

It took me a few weeks to decide which team I want to support.. I've been choosing between Raiders (I grew up with friends from the US being Raiders fans and as a child, I loved their logo..but Al Davis really sucks), Saints (using old french symbols like the Fleur-de-Lys. So, as I'm french, there's kind of a connection ;) ), Eagles (but only because of Brian Westbrook who is my favourite player...but I dislike any sports teams playing in green in general..though the actual "midnight-green" isn't that bad) and the Ravens because of their furious and "nasty" way to play, Ray Lewis and Joe Flacco who I both liked right away...

Finally, after week 8 (win over Raiders), I definitely decided to stay with the Ravens because I like players, logo, team colors..well the whole franchise identity... and besides, keeping a "sympathy" for the Saints and the player B.Westbrook B)

I am happy that the Ravens have already made it that far ! That's amazing ! I hope the best for the Conference Final..

Greetings from Germany ! :)

its outstanding that we have a ever growing international fanbase, i think it really speaks wonders as to how we can cheer this team on, i mean really how many teams out there can honestly say " we have fans worldwide" ? i know one thing... the Ravens Can and the fanbase and lovr/support keeps growing, seemingly year after year, almost like week after week... we get more fans than we had before, which prompts me to just humbly believe.... this year....this team... is truly something remarkable and truly special.

the Ravens 12th man is seemingly getting bigger and stronger with each passing week it seems, how many teams in the league can honestly say that? not too many, so its truly something special =)

I consider myself a longterm Ravens supporter. My intereset in the Ravens (and football in general) awoke somewhen in the 90s, I suppose. I got relatives in Baltimore, am residing in Hamburg, Germany, though.
