[News] Late For Work 8/3: Bold Predictions: Perriman Returns During Camp; West May Win Starting Job

80 posts in this topic

The Trent Richardson experiment didn't hurt the Ravens. Chris Moore is 'clearly going to miss more time.' Bad injury day for the Bengals and Steelers. Pittsburgh will wear all-black 'color rush' uniform vs. Ravens.

I wasn't impressed with the way Buck Allen ran during that Monday Night practice either. He honestly looks like another Bernard Pierce. Terrence West did look and run like he deserves the starting job SO FAR. West also got cheers from the crowd. And I believe that whoever wins the crowd in baltimore should start. Also they moved Dan Brown to TE. Smh Harbaugh is making this guys journey to get playing time more and more difficult. I wouldn't be upset by this if he hadn't been known to let less productive guys hang around and not make any plays. GIVE DANIEL BROWN PLAYING TIME

Dare I say Ray Rice? Second chance?

It's not happening.  Don't know if you missed it but when Bisciotti was asked if there was any scenario that would have Rice back as a Raven, he said "it is safe to assume that he is done here"

I hope Perriman makes camp, but I'm through holding my breath of hope...I don't care about the Steelers and what colors they choose to lose to us in...I'm excited to see what team we roll out, that's where my excitement lies.

Yeah, I got ya. Just thought I'd toss it out for feedback from the Ravens Fans. Thanks for responding.

Haven't heard much from Elam, Brown or Forsett. Maybe we can cut all of them and create 3-4 million in cap space. I think it is now safe to say Brown and Elam are busts in Baltimore. Sad but true.

The Ravens as a whole, Harbs, Biscotti all did Ray Rice dirty.  Yea he made a mistake but no one did a better job of fixing it than RR did.  The Ravens caved to the media BS....unfortunately RR's name has been poisoned and no one will touch him.  Several other players in the league currently have done far worse than RR and continue to play.

If there wasn't a video Rice would be in the league now.  But since his knockout punch was on display for the world to see, he'll never get another chance in the NFL. For those who did worst, but still playing, it's easy to turn a blind eye when the picture isn't present.

I think you may be quite mistaken. Had the Ravens kept Rice, he would have continued to stay in the news, he would have continued to be a target for abuse organizations and he never would have been able to participate in the things he did to help him get his life back together. The Ravens would have been picketed, you had people burning Ray Rice jerseys and the publicity factor was too negative and would have had an effect on the locker room. Hardy is proof that even a very bad person can get a job in the NFL if they have the skill set. There are 31 other teams and, like Hardy, had they felt he was good enough, he would have gotten a chance. People told him over and over, go to the CFL, go to Arena, go somewhere where you can show you still have it and he chose to pursue a NFL career only which is never going to happen based on his skill set not his legal issues. He can still pursue a career in Canada where he could prove his worth, but he chooses not to do that. That is his choice.

So Rice knocks out a woman, on camera no less, but it's the Ravens fault his career is ruined? Brilliant.

Let's remember Perriman has not been hit by a defensive player in 2 years, what will happen when he is!

More crap about Perriman. Am sick to death of it. This guy was not worthy of a number one pick. He was a pass dropper for a middle of the road college, and has yet, stayed healthy enough to make me believe he will be anything but that here. All of these "mysterious injuries" that keep him on the team but off the field can't help but make anyone with any common sense wonder. Is this guy for real or not? it is time to stop the excuses and put up or shut up.

Ray Rice did Ray Rice dirty. Ray Rice is to blame for why Ray Rice isn't playing for a team right now. Ray Rice spit on his wife, hit her once, and then slugged her and knocked her right out. Ray Rice then decided to lie about it to Roger Goodell and the Ravens. Ray Rice decided to sit there and act like it was his wife's fault that he slugged her like that in the press conference he held with Janay after the fact. Ray Rice is lucky he's not in prison. Ray Rice poisoned his name and Ray Rice doesn't deserve the privilege of playing in the NFL and making millions of dollars playing a game.

Ray Rice is free to seek employment in any other venue he chooses. Ray Rice should be used as an example to NFL players that if you do something completely horrible you might very well be forfeiting the privilege to play in the NFL. You can't just get away with everything because you are a special athlete. Stop doing drugs, stop beating up women, and stop hanging out after midnight with guns in nightclubs.

I agree JohnnyPurple with your point, but let me add one more point. Hitting his girlfriend now wife in an elevator, knocking her unconscious was bad. His name would come up every time someone thought about domestic violence in the league. Yes that hurt his career, but the fault is not our Baltimore Ravens Brass it is his and only his. They didn't tell him to go out and knock out your girlfriend, That was a choice made by Ray Rice and now he has to live with the consequences of his actions.

Well, I don't know about West winning the starting RB role, as I think Forsett has the proven track record of getting the job done. That being said, i'm very happy with the effort he has put in to make the team and show that he can be a contributor. I initially had only three RB's making the cut (Forsett, Allen and Dixon), but if West continues his impressive training camp and plays well in the pre-season I may have to hold the door open for him to get a spot on the 53 man roster.

As far as Perriman goes, I need to see the guy actually play in a game before putting labels on him. Kid has a lot of potential but in the NFL you have to be on the field to prove your worth. I'm staying hopeful that he will get the injury bug off his back and show us why we invested a first round pick on him.

Ha! We should wear gold/gold uniforms - throw their colors back at them (that would be an ugly uniform wouldn't it?)

VERY ugly

I agree 100% JP. I thought the Ravens were supposed to have their players backs. They threw Ray under the bus to appease the media. I was very disappointed in the front office that day.

Ray didn't slug her he slapped her when he backed away and she came after him but since she was drunk the slap knocked her down, she hit her head on the rail and THAT knocked her out. Yeah he shouldn't have done it but take those 5 seconds out of his life and hes a model citizen.

Maybe we can trade Bisciotti with someone for a fourth round draft pick?

I think you need to watch the whole video again. To start the events off he spit in her face before they got in the elevator. She slapped him in response. She gets in the elevator and he follows her in. They exchange some words and he slaps her which makes her back up against the far wall. She is angered by this and steps towards him and that is when he slugs her and knocks her out cold. Then she drops like a rag doll. It wasn't some little love tap, because he slapped her before the punch and that didn't knock her down or out.

And who is to know he hasn't done this sort of thing before. You do know that abusers are people that generally have a pattern of it. You don't know what he's like off the field or in person. That five seconds happened and he deserves everything he gets as a result of it. It is not a right to be able to play football.

They cut Ray Rice after he lied about the incident to Roger Goodell and the Ravens front office. Once they found out what really happened that is when the NFL suspended Ray Rice further and the Ravens cut him. I'm glad the Ravens didn't have this piece of scum's back. Abusing a woman is one of the most despicable things you can ever do as a man.

Steelers to wear black to their own funeral.

Well, it's a Christmas Day game so when we beat them up there it will just remind all the Pittsburg kiddies of the coal we Ravens just stuck in their stockings that day.

Totally agree with your opinion. I'm afraid that's an episode the Ravens management will never live down. It's the shame of the front office, not the team or the players.

Everyone has five seconds they wish they could get back and do things differently...But life don't work like that. He did the stupid, now he'll pay for it...and let's be for real: dude knocked the crap out of her, wether it was closed fist or open handed. Making excuses that "she was drunk" and "she hit her head on the railing" are what got him exiled from the league. If he had straight up admitted what went down, things may have played out differently. But he used the cry-baby excuses you use, and that ultimately got him banished from the NFL. probably for life.
